A conversation between demons

Zoe looked at him concerned, smoothing his hair back one last time before lowering her hand down into her lap.

“Nightmares are generally not enjoyable things,” She replied after a few moments as he stood up to go grab a new shirt that did not smell of sweat and the strain of everyday life. Zoe often had nightmares, but generally not to the extent.

“Are you going to be okay?”

Such a simple term, okay. It was easy to define the word as feeling rather than a person’s mental state. But Zoe didn’t push the matter but she cleared away the plate and the glass as well as the pain killers. Placing the glass and plate into the sink, Zoe then put the pain pills back on their proper shelf. Amber was sunbathing in the window as she passed by.

Sam concentrated hard on his hands to stop them from shaking, it was making it a lot harder than it needed to be to find a new shirt. He pulled one out of his dresser finally and unfolded it before swiftly swapping his current shirt over for the new one. For the second or so that his shirt was off, he felt like he was standing in a freezer, when he put his new shirt on, it felt like he was standing in the desert, the strange nightmare certainly did a number on him. Sam felt slightly shaken up, but he didn't want to give Zoe something else that she can get worried about, he looked up at her with a slight smile before saying "Yeah, I'll be fine"

Sam followed Zoe out as she took out his plate and glass, he ventured over to the window where he noticed Amber laying out in front of it and keeping herself warm, he rubbed her belly to some surprise as she seemed slightly relaxed, but she appreciated it in the end. Sam scooped her up and sat on the ledge by the window with her on his lap, they both stared out of the window at the passers by as Sam slowly stroked Amber's fur and pondered on what he saw for a few seconds before shaking it off in a hope that he would never have to think about it again.

Zoe completed her cleaning task before she slid up next to Sam, slipping her left arm around his waist. Not saying anything but allowing herself to comfort him and she reached over and pet the kitty between the ears. Zoe then moved away to sit on the floor, adjusting her splint.
"Your head feeling any better?" She asked, eyes fixed on her wrist. Finished with whatever adjustments she was making before standing and moving over to stand next to Sam, resting her forehead on his shoulder.

Sam could feel the closeness the two of them had, they were pretty comfortable with each other now and they have been apart for essentially the past three weeks. Amber was probably excited about the both of them living here now, it causes her to be looked after for longer than usual per day, she gets to socialize double than usual and she seems to be petted much more than she is used to receiving.

Sam watched Zoe adjust her splint around her wrist and wished there was just something that he could do to speed up the recovery process, there may well be some kind of new Titan power he has yet to unlock that could heal Zoe, but he was not yet skilled enough to learn it, or maybe he would just end up learning it in the future.

"I feel hunky dory" he said, slightly sarcastically and yet he wanted Zoe to believe him so she does not get worried about him more than she already does, her stress levels must be off the charts when it comes to worrying about Sam.

"I'm thinking of ordering some pizza later if you are interested, won't be as nice as Abyss pizza, but it will suffice"

Zoe arched her eyebrow at Sam, showing she was not convinced at his current state of hunky dory-ness.
"Horrible liar," She notified him, pressing her lips to his cheek. "Adding sarcasm to how you feel doesn't help the situation."
A few strands of Zoe's red hair tickled his cheek as she straightened up and thought about his offer.
"Pizza sounds good for dinner," She agreed, massaging at his neck and back absentmindedly. She happened to do this a lot when thinking. Distracting the other person with her massage ability and effectively killing their brains while dwelling on the current situation at hand. It was slightly difficult left handed but Zoe would manage.
