Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Agency December 19th 2014, 9:50 am

"Chicago's proven resilient and a blessing in it's own right. We've had little resistance there. The few metahumans who have become irate have been easily subdued. Then again we haven't had to take many, not too many of them have rege-"" The elder agent stopped in his tracks as he watched the directors window lighting up with information, technology that was a more improved version of something straight out of the minority report. The data that was on the screen was one that the agent had seen his director looking at countless times in the past weeks. His gaze fixated ever intently on four metahuman profiles. "If I may be frank with you Director. This obsession with Subject Surge, Subject Masquerade, Subject Enlightenment and Subject Incubus has officially become unhealthy." He put it out there bluntly as he said he would. Of course the director just smirked and waved his hand. The profiles vanished from the one-way mirror window and the director turned walking past the older agent with haste. The older agent would follow his director, knowing full well that this conversation was far from over.

"My obsession is driven by the countless years we've been watching, waiting. The years of information we've siphoned through, every hacker we've traced, every genius we've watched, every child whose health physicals and blood samples we've gone through. All for a greater good. The time to act is now and there are grave dangers lurking. None of them strong enough to defeat us, but definitely powerful enough to be annoying." The director said as they passed agent after agent, all of them being careful to not get in the director's way or impede his progress.

"I can understand caution, but obsession?" The elder asked as they closed in on a control room of sorts, a hub. Agents sitting at computers all of them in a circular fashion. Their eyes on their screens, or the boards ahead of them against the wall.

"Obsession? No. Fascination and concern? Most definitely." He said with a smile as he watched the Agents work. Years of preparation. Watching other organizations before them rise and fall. Watching the destruction of New York. This is what it all came to.

"SIR! Subject's Surge and Masquerade have been spotted in Chicago. There's been a explosion of a radial power plant but...there's no sign of radiation. Masquerade's being tracked as he is undertaking evasive action." A lone woman in the corner cried out. The director smiled as he looked to the older Agent.
**********************************************************************************

The plant was barren. No signs of life. Skeletal shadows burned to the walls like a brand. A brand...that was an...accurate description. These skeletons upon the wall, burned there as shadows of lives once lived. Men who worked their days, earned their wages and spilled their sweat and blood to maintain a power source. All of them with wives, some of them with children. All of them were known by names, and all of them had lives. To think of every skeleton charred to the walls, and to think that it was once just like us. Living, breathing, laughing and crying. Loving and now losing. Knowing this made a brand, not of the body but of the soul. A brand that would be carried into two lives... for as long as they lived.

From the wreckage of the nuclear plant a large cemented and concrete wall began to move, shifting. No easy feat for even a metahuman. The rubble clattered and rumbled as it parted like the red sea, a mass rising from the ashes. A phoenix born from nuclear fire, and in it's arms...it's twin brother. These men were just normal men once. Maintenance and a Scientist to help control and record readings.  The man from maintenance knew the scientist. His friend, his coworker, his confidant. When they knew there was an electrical discharge, a surge of power and the blast was imminent, he ran to his best friend. The only thought on his mind was how to get as many people out of there as he could. But it would seem as though that was not possible. The eruptive flash was so quick, the force of percussion sending him forward...and then it went black. Yet now here he was, kneeling with his friend in his arms as he looked across a devastated area. Half a New York block was gone, yet somehow he knew it should have been SOOOO much more than that. Something happened...something kept it from annihilating more lives. Had this place not been so isolated. But that was a thought too dark to think.

"Kal. Kal! Kalvin wake up!" The man growled as he shook the scientist in his arm. He couldn't feel the warmth and the sheer energy that radiated form the scientist, from Kalvin. But if he could have he very well may have understood where all the energy had gone. The man punched the ground, a pulse rippling through it ans the earth crushing beneath his hand. His eyes watering, looking to the destruction around him. Friends and loved ones gone, and yet somehow he was cursed to survive. He knew he should be happy, but in truth he was nothing but bitter and angry. So many good people in such a tragedy.

Siren's were closing in while on the streets there cars filled with men in black suits looking for the ever elusive masked man, Masquerade. The man quickly lifted Kalvin and began running. True, he was slow, but at least he knew he had a head start.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by Forceaus December 20th 2014, 11:23 pm

John Capore woke up that morning and followed a pretty standard routine for it. He woke about a minute before the alarm went off at its usual set time, and of course, forced himself to get out of bed instead of pressing the snooze button to allow himself an extra 5 minutes of rest. He knew better than to do that. Mainly because last time his alarm didn't go off that second time and he would up sleeping in and being late for school. John would have changed the batteries on it if it weren't for the fact that it's plugged into a wall socket. Try to change the batteries of a plug-in device. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. No wonder people worried about what goes on in his head sometimes.

Having learned from that one time, he got out of bed and slowly got ready for the day. Went to the bathroom and washed up, then got breakfast. John had bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast. The eggs were a bit undercooked, but the bacon was great. He had the tendency to be a minute or two off with the timing of some foods. Of course those mere minutes were crucial when cooking. At least he wasn't on one of those cooking shows where people get shouted and cursed at for messing up. Not long after breakfast he got dressed and left home for the day. He had to go to school that day. That must sound so exciting. Possibly the worst part was having to walk there. He lived too close for the bus, but not that close. There was literally a bus stop about a block from the apartment. John found that unfair. Driving wasn't an option because there were no available parking spaces. He missed out on reserving a parking space. So this morning, like so many others, he was getting some exercise.

Later on that day after some mundane classes an announcement came over the loudspeaker of something serious. Something that was making the school consider having a lockdown. An explosion at the power plant. After some time the students were allowed to return home, but the situation at the power plant was still going on. John was on his way home when he got a call from somebody he had not talked to in a while. It was about what was going on at the power plant. John decided to promptly respond and hurried home just so he could leave again right after picking something up.

This time he drove to his destination and found a parking garage to leave his car before setting out to undergo the rest of the trip on foot. On the way to the place where he agreed to meet with the person he'd been talking to, John had found a place to change into costume and now he was Forcewave. Forcewave could see the power plant in the distance. Smoke gushed into the air from it and the piercing sounds of police sirens blasted from all directions as they moved in on the place. Forcewave felt he would be heading either there or in that general direction in due time. He had heard some people had been seen escaping the place and they were suspected to be the ones who caused the explosion. Would he wind up trying to track them down? It was highly likely. He took a path away from where crowds were gathered and eventually reached the place he was heading towards.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Ranger December 21st 2014, 3:17 pm

He was back in Chicago after being gone for quite some time…again. No one knew where he went or why he left not even Force or Nathaniel. Although he suspected Nathaniel had somewhat of a clue as to the reason why he left. He told himself he wouldn’t go running off, that he’d be strong enough to fight off the pain but as soon as he called the meeting to temporarily disband Knightwatch he knew he was only lying to himself. He was still fighting off the pain of losing his family and that happened when he was thirteen. How he expected himself to get over something that happened only a year ago he’d never know. So that’s what he did, he took off and went to train, to scour the globe and make himself stronger, faster, smarter, better. In hopes that nothing like that would ever happen again.

So that he’d be able to make the world a safer place, a place she’d be proud of. It was one of the reasons he stopped being a Defense Attorney and became a Prosecutor originally and although he had been doing well, it wasn’t enough. It was never enough. Which lead to him getting together with Nathaniel and starting Knightwatch, a group he had hoped would become the next G.U.N, a lasting version at that; and for a while it seemed like everything was going according to plan…and then the TV’s started to play memorial services and he broke down. Slowly at first, keeping himself collected and calm, but once he had gotten the responsibility of Knightwatch and his last case off his shoulders Rey Adrian Miller and The Ranger disappeared.

Sure, he knew the smarter people would be able to make the connection and Wilbert and Steven would reprimand him for his rookie mistake but he didn’t care. When it came to her most thing things logical and illogical just flew out the window, and he also knew she’d kill him for it. Which is why he made sure that Rey made an appearance at least a week before Ranger did…and in that time Ranger had yet to show his face. The hood and the bow stayed on the shelf, the entrance to Knightwatch Lair remained closed. It had been two weeks sense Rey returned to the scene and yet Ranger was nowhere to be found, the city was doing fine on its own.

A new age of heroes had rose up and taken care of the city in his absence and he felt un-needed. Maybe…just maybe he’d be able to hang up the crimson tights for good and simply wear a suit and tie to work every day only needed to lug around a briefcase. Except the world didn’t work that way, it never did and expecting it too was simply him dreaming. Waking up on a Thursday, at around noon wasn’t how Rey expected to start his day, seeing an explosion at the power plant on TV wasn’t what he wanted either. Needless to say noticing that there was no super-hero activity going on at the plant either wasn’t what he was expecting. The only thing he was expecting was that two people, one actually carrying the other, were last seen fleeing the power plant immediately placing suspicion on them. Hell it was enough reasonable doubt to arrest them in his mind.

So, grabbing something he hadn’t expected to use today he opened the link and called in Forcewave. A meeting place was met, details were told and then he hung up. He’d explain things later, face to face, and after everything calmed down. Putting his glasses on he took off out of his apartment at speeds reaching up to a thousand miles an hour. Quickly rushing into the Knightwatch Lair he activated the code; which of course would signal everyone who still had their coms that it had been activated, and who by, threw on his suit grabbing his bow and twenty four arrows and kept going. Making it to the determined meeting place a few seconds before his partner did.

Leaning up against a pole eating a power bar, one of his own inventions, he nodded to the younger male. “I assume you’re up to speed on what’s going on so I won’t waste time with the pleasantries. You’re still a well enough known hero around here and I know you don’t particularly enjoy talking to the police but you are better at it than I am. Find out what you can and then try and catch up with me. I’ll be going to have a chat with the suspects.” He finished his power bar and stuffed the trash into his pockets nodding, “...It’s good to see you by the way.” The hooded archer said before taking off once more after the two men, hoping to catch up with them soon.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by Forceaus December 22nd 2014, 11:15 pm

Forcewave had arrived at his destination where from a distance he saw the person whom had called him here to meet to deal with the situation at the power plant just arriving himself. It was somebody he had not seen in a few months, but was glad to see here. It was Ranger, and he got down to business immediately upon seeing Forcewave arrive as well. They were going to try and track down the two people who had been seen fleeing from the power plant after the explosion that were suspected of being responsible for it. Neither of them knew exactly where they could currently be, but they were bound to still be in the area. Both Ranger and Forcewave could cover a pretty large amount of ground in a fairly short amount of time. Especially Ranger considering how fast he was.

They both mostly knew what was going on, but really only what had been reported. In other words, the same as just about everybody else knew that had heard about it on the news. They might need more information in order to solve this problem. Forcewave could see police, firefighters and ambulance gathered all around the vicinity of the power plant. Perhaps they knew some additional information from what they had witnessed first hand. It seemed a good of option as any to him. As it turns out, Ranger was thinking they same thing. He suggested that Forcewave go and talk to police while he sets out in search of the two suspects. While it was true that he had a better chance of getting information from the police, he was still wary of them. His status as a major superhero was a double edged blade. Granted they would generally be willing to inform him of what was going on if he went down and asked, but they might also try to arrest him for reasons of establishing that they could. It was a risk for him to go down there, but still he would do so anyways. "Alright. I'll call you if I find out anything from talking to them." he told Ranger as he agreed to go ask the police for more information. Forcewave turned away to head towards where they were all gathered, then turned back to Ranger and replied to him once again. "It's good to see you too." he said as he walked off towards the damaged power plant to speak with the authorities that were monitoring the situation.

He saw some of the police notice him coming. They were wary of his approach, but were not reacting to much. Perhaps they recognized him. Was that a good thing though? He walked up to four of them that had stepped away to meet him halfway and began to ask about what had happened here.

"Excuse me officers. Could any of you tell me what happened here?" he asked politely hoping at least one of them would be willing to tell him.

The officers briefly talked quietly among themselves before one of them responded. "Well Forcewave. Just over an hour ago two unidentified individuals believed to be in possession of powers attacked the plant. We have yet to find any survivors, and the damage done has caused a few power outages. Luckily the grid is still going though. They were last seen heading east with police attempting to pursue." the officer told him.

"Okay. Any idea on what kind of powers either of them may possess?" he asked thinking that knowing about their powers would be really helpful.

"Outside of being able to cause extensive amounts of damage, nothing." the officer replied.

"Thank you, sir." he said before turning away. Forcewave started heading east as he got on the communicator to call Ranger. "So, those two suspects were last seen heading east. No word on who they are though. I'm heading that way myself. Keep in touch." he said as he set about in search of the suspects himself.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Ranger December 23rd 2014, 5:57 pm

Head starts meant nothing when you were running from one of the fastest men alive. As soon as Ranger was sure Forcewave was gone he took off to do his part of the plan. He didn’t have a set course, he didn’t even have a particular area he knew to search in but he did have an exploded power plant and two survivors. Or well one survivor carrying another whom was assumed to still be alive but no one truly knew because there wasn’t much to go off of. At least that was what Ranger determined after running around the crime scene, making sure not to mess with anything that was of importance. With his enhanced vision he was quickly able to determine which foot prints were made after the explosion, which were before, and those that would be forever imprinted on the ground.

One set however spiked the interest of the hooded archer, and that was of course the one which seemed to be dug deeper into the ground signifying it was carrying something, was clearly made after the explosion, and was headed towards the east out of and away from the power plant. With it being the only set to go off of he followed the footprints out as far as he could until he received a call from Forcewave letting him know what he had found. The information given to him by his old teammate only further confirmed The Ranger’s suspicion that he was at least on the right track to finding the two survivors of the explosion and perhaps whenever he found them they would be able to shed some light onto the situation at hand.

Taking off once more he allowed his vision to pan out to its full extent, head moving back and forth as he ran the world around him seemingly standing still while he himself moved forward. He could see everything for a mile away even something as small as a mouse and the speed he was covering meant there was nothing that could hide from him unless they were behind a building or something of the sort. Yet it seemed to be his lucky day for just as he was about to turn down a street to check it out he noticed what appeared to be a man carrying another wearing a lab coat head down into an alley way. Enough suspicion for any reasonable cop to go chasing after them Ranger did just that.

“I think I’ve found them check my coordinates and meet up when possible.” The words left his mouth and were picked up by the communicator to be immediately sent to Forcewave along with his coordinations so that the younger hero would be able to identify just where Ranger was and thus help out if things got out of hand.

Except it wasn’t so much chasing as it was speeding past the two so that he was in front of them a good twenty or so feet up against the wall of a building bow out and at the ready. He was exhausted from all the running he had done and knew he’d need to refuel sooner or later but he hoped that he’d be able to question these two without things getting too far out of hand first, or at least until Forcewave got here to even the odds if they did get hairy. “Stand down, no one is going to get hurt. I just have a couple of questions for you.” He had no need for making his voice deeper anymore after a run in with someone in Tibet he now had a machine that changed the way his voice sounded. Giving it a slightly deeper and ‘spookier’ tone anyway.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Agency December 24th 2014, 3:56 pm

(Excuse this interruption: Looks like a good moment to throw this in here.)

The man kept a good hold of his friend, Kal. They had moved very quickly, yet they'd still be found on a reletively quick basis it would seem. The man was just before them, twenty feet. The large man stopped, his feet suttering as they tapped on the ground to cease his running. Despite his inability to run fast, the man showed no sign of weariness, no sign of fatigue. The only thing he displayed was a deep suspicion and concern. He brought his friend closer to him, eyes narrowing at the strange man with the spooky voice. Of course hearing a voice like this and seeing a man dressed like this right after you've just survived a nuclear explosion doesn't generally bode well for your imagination or the events that would transpire. The man took a few steps back before his eyes narrowed at the figure.

"I-I can't stop. I know how this looks. They'll lock him up, and me maybe. But we didn't do anything! We were trying to evacuate the facility and it blew. Now this...just us." He said, his voice breaking a little but a fury in his eyes. It was understandable that he'd be cautious and suspicious. Of course two people survive a plant explosion and two people survive it doesn't look good. Unfortunately their running didn't help issues either. Had Kalvin been awake he might have been able to calm the large man. Sadly, he was still in a state that one could only compare to comatose. "I won't let them... get out of my way. Please... don't try to stop me. I've been protecting Kal since we were pre-school. I'm not gonna stop for some punk in a suit." He said through his teeth as he began to step forward, gauging Ranger's reaction to the first step. Regardless of the reaction he'd press on, until Ranger tried to force him to stop.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by Forceaus December 24th 2014, 11:12 pm

The brief discussion he had with the police about what had happened at the power plant left him still wondering what had happened at the power plant. Either the police weren't telling him what they knew, or even they had yet to find out what had caused that explosion. Either way, the situation was still a problem that needed to be addressed. Forcewave had been heading east in pursuit of the two people whom were suspected of being responsible before stopping to look back at the plant. He began to survey just how damaged it looked. Despite how extensive the damage was, it should be worse. The whole city should in danger of being doused in radiation, yet no evacuation was being issued. This had him thinking. Thinking as to what the real source of the explosion was. It couldn't have been the reactor. If it had, there would be a radiation leak. So, what if the damage had instead been caused by the people that had left the place? To do that much damage suggested they had a lot of destructive power. That would mean Ranger was going after two guys that could be extremely dangerous by himself. Forcewave grabbed his communicator and made a call to him as he started running to find him.

"Ranger, listen. Those two guys may have directly destroyed the power plant. They might be dangerous to approach alone if they did because that would mean they're really powerful. I suggest we go in together." he said as he finished talking and awaited a response. He kept on searching for either him or the two suspects while waiting to Ranger to call back. Still his communicator remained silent. This worried him. It worried him a lot. Forcewave knew how fast Ranger could run and figured that he would probably have no problem finding them in no time if they were out in the open. Perhaps he had already found them and was engaging them right now. He couldn't hear the sounds of massive scale combat going on nearby that would indicate someone as powerful as he suspected these two might be were fighting. Still that didn't mean things had already or were about to go awry. Forcewave quickened his pace in hopes of finding either of them.

After a few minutes of running from one street to the next his communicator rang. He stopped and listened for information. It contained a message saying that Ranger had possibly found them along with coordinates. Forcewave checked the coordinates and the GPS device to figure out exactly where he needed to go. The GPS indicated a position about six blocks from here. He could be there in a matter of minutes if he runs fast enough. "On my way. Be there in a few minutes." he replied and then took off running towards the coordinates given to him.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Ranger December 25th 2014, 6:50 pm

A few minutes? Ranger wasn’t exactly sure he could keep the guy steady, here, and not attack by the time Focewave got there exspecially with the way the man kept walking forwards towards Ranger. Turning off his voice changer and putting his bow away he held his hands in the air yet continued to back up with the man to make sure he stayed a good distance away from him. “Alright hey, I believe you. Or at least I want to if what you’re saying is true but won’t let them do what? Won’t let who do what? You’re going to need to work with me if you really want your buddy to be safe.” Speaking in his normal voice in hopes to calm the man down.

Ranger knew what it felt like not being able to protect someone and how this man might be feeling now that the one person he had apparently been trying to protect his entire life was seemingly unconscious and he believed, or the entire world believed it was all their fault. Sure, he didn’t know the entire story and sure he probably shouldn’t trust them as years of experience had shown but that was one of Rangers downfalls. He was a good hearted person, always striving to do what he truly believed was best and right now that meant finding out what happened from the only two people who survived the explosion. If that meant helping them out and getting them to trust him, then damnit that’s exactly what he was going to do.

“If you need I can take your friend to a hospital, or somewhere safe and get him medical attention there if you don’t want to go to a hospital; which I’d totally understand. But you need to let me know what’s going on and who you’re so afraid of. No one is going to hurt you or your buddy I promise you that.” It wasn’t a promise he could knowingly keep but he was damn well going to try, and Ranger was not one to go back on his words. At least not until Forcewave showed up and they were better able to assess the situation. It didn’t matter how smart Ranger was, two heads were always better than one when it came to working on a project like this.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by Forceaus December 27th 2014, 10:17 pm

Forcewave ran and ran as fast as he could to get to the location indicated by the coordinates he had been given. He feared that things were about to go very badly and wanted to stop it before they got out of hand. They didn't need another explosion like the one at the power plant happening. This time Ranger would be right at the epicenter of it, and Forcewave wasn't sure even he was fast enough to escape an explosion like that.

He turned a corner and then another to reach the very street the coordinates he had been provided said for him to go. He stopped to look down the street and saw all of them. Ranger standing there unarmed along with a man who was steadily walking towards him, and another one laid out on the street. Had Ranger done that? And why was he unarmed? He couldn't see his bow from here. He was still about a block away anyways, and would have to be cautious in how he attempted to get any closer to them. Forcewave steadily walked towards them step by step at a relatively quick pace until he got close enough for them to easily notice him.

As he drew closer he saw that Ranger was attempting to handle things peacefully, and it didn't look like he was the one responsible for one of the two men being downed. Upon closer inspection in fact, that guy looked far worse for wear that he should .Something must have happened to him while at the power plant.

Forcewave saw that he had been noticed and decided to speak directly to the man whom was slowly walking towards Ranger. "We're not here to fight. We just want to know what happened. Is he okay?" he asked indicating the man whom was lying in the street.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Agency December 28th 2014, 10:19 am

Ranger putting his bow away actually made the large man stop moving forward, if only for a second. The man looked around and began to find himself distrustful of this entire situation, for reasons he did not yet know. He scanned the rooftops a moment before looking to Ranger and nodding.

"I don't know if I can trust you." He said, though not in a deep and challenging tone, rather he sounded almost remorseful. Glancing around for a moment he sighed and was forced to go against his best judgements and fears. He wasn't afraid to smash Ranger's face in, though he wasn't a person to start violence. He always saw himself more of a protector than a scrapper. He closed his eyes and decided it was best to simply give his account of things. "Look. This morning I woke up and I was just a normal guy. I was Harley Mills and I worked maintenance at the steel forge and I was a temp scab for the maintenance guys on strike at the plant. I went in to work and everything went to Hell. There was a bright light and when I woke up I was somehow NOT crushed under the three tons of scrap and stone and Kal here was glowing. The police, everyone is gonna think we did it. But we didn't...I didn't and I'd sure as hell bet my life that he didn't." Harley knew that Ranger had no reason to trust him. For all Ranger knew this guy was a metahuman with a beef to pick with someone at the plant. But if Ranger had any judge of character then he's know that Harley was innocent, or at least that sense would most likely be fooled into thinking he was.

"Look, we both know a power plant should have blown up a metric fuck-ton more than just that little plot of land. Whatever happened I think that Kal soaked it up, which means he's chalk full of radiation." Harley said his eyes moving up from the slightly glowing Kal to Ranger. The next thing he knew there was another had joined them. Now there was another stranger amongst them. When the stranger then reasserted that they weren't here to fight, and inquired about Kal's condition it lowered any form of hostility as he shook his head.

"I'm not sure if he's okay. I mean come on guys we were just in a nuclear plant explosion. But I'm gonna try and get him out of town. If he's really full of radiation then he's a walking cancer to anyone near him." The potential of that being true was not unfathomable, though it was not entirely accurate. Unfortunately Harley wasn't what one might have called the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but his plan seemed to have a form of sense about it. He didn't wish to suddenly give everyone on the streets of Chicago cancer by simply walking Kal past them, and he seemed to lose sight of the second part of that question, unsure how long the other man had been standing there. Then again if he had heard earlier he probably wouldn't have asked. Again, Harley was not so bright.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by The Ranger December 29th 2014, 4:45 pm

Ranger knew he should trust the guy, hell he was right about the explosion part. There should have been way more damage done at the power plant if it truly had exploded, and the still slightly glowing man in the arms of the bigger man was an indication that what he was saying had to be at least somewhat true. But none of that seemed to matter to Ranger's mind, as only one question kept ramming forward. 'Than why did you run? If you're innocent why did you run' Mentally he was bombarding them with questions, solutions, his mind was running faster than even his legs could keep up attempting to find some sort of rhyme or reason behind the man's actions. Each time he came running back to the unconscious man now lying in the big man's arms. He wasn't doing any of this for himself, he was doing it to protect his friend, and that Ranger could understand.

Nodding his head at what the man said he spoke up to reply. "Alright, but come with me; I know somewhere closer than some out of the city place where you two can at least be safe we can get your friend some help and we can all find out just what happened to him." Sure, he wasn't convinced that the guy was going to go anywhere with him but it's not like he had anywhere else to go but keep running through the city with no where in particular to go and no hope for help for his friend or with them, two people who were actively looking to help them. "You don't have to trust me but isn't getting help now better than the possibility of never getting it?"

Placing his hand on the side of the brick wall next to him it opened up showing an eye scanner and what appeared to be a metal door. Because logically The Black Knight had secret entrances or pathways that lead into the Phantom's Lair all throughout the city of Chicago. How else do you think he seemingly magically appeared out of nowhere when the guy had no super powers? Ranger of course was able to find them all thanks to the computer back at Knightwatch Lair, and using his speed added himself in on all the access codes. Right as he was about to open the door though he get something shaking in the ground and looked over at Forcewave, "Did you feel that too or am I just experiencing a side effect of over extorting myself?" He really hoped it was the second one but upon feeling another tremble and the sewer drain tops popping one after the other heading straight for them he knew he wasn't. Ranger grabbed his bow and tightened his grip on it, something big was on its way.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by Forceaus December 29th 2014, 7:07 pm

As apparently luck would have it, the man whom was suspected of attacking the power plant didn't want to fight them either. His only concern was the safety of his friend. His friend whom was glowing due to likely radiation exposure. Forcewave was cautious about getting anywhere near him due to that possibility. He even took a few steps away from him and towards Ranger just because of that possibility. If high amounts of radiation were present, he was likely already exposed to them anyways, but precautions are precautions. They definitely needed to get him some medical attention. Doing so would more than likely make dealing with the other guy easier. Forcewave was still under the assumption that he may have been the one that damaged the power plant. Can't just be going off the rails if that were the case. Oh no, that would be bad.

Forcewave was trying to figure out what their chances were of getting medical attention for the likely irradiated man lying on the ground considering him and his friend were suspected of devastating a power plant in what's essentially being considered an act of terrorism. The police would probably attempt to arrest them on the spot, though it was very likely they would still get the man medical attention. He wasn't sure they'd agree to that though. Forget that, he knew they wouldn't. He and Ranger might have to either work around that system, or take matters into their own hands, sort to speak, somehow.

He heard Ranger say that they would help them, and Forcewave agreed with him as he saw his ally reveal a door behind a solid brick wall. "What the hell? Where'd that come from?" he thought when he saw this. Seriously though, why was that there? Did Ranger install it? That was actually pretty cool to him. It also made him wonder where else secret doors may be located. Thinking of that would drive somebody paranoid.

He was about to walk towards the door when the ground suddenly started shaking. It was shaking violently as confusion set in among those that were here. Another explosion at the power plant, perhaps? But then there was another, and another, until the ground started shaking without end. Whatever was causing it seemed to be moving in their direction as the endless shaking kept growing stronger "No, I feel it too. There's something coming towards us." he said as the sewer drains started getting shot upwards and the tremors seemed to be occurring right beneath them. Forcewave didn't know where it would be safe to go right now as whatever was just below them felt ready to rise up out of the ground.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Harley would follow Ranger, though neither he nor Forcewave were trusted. Granted, they were nice enough it would seem which is why he was following them. He even seemed to voice what Forcewave was musing to himself. "Wa-where did THAT come from?" He seemed cautious as to what he had witnessed. If he could rub his eyes he likely would have. Part of him was actually wondering if he maybe died in the explosion and this was some form of afterlife experience. That would suck, but it wouldn't occupy his mind too long as they began to head towards the door.

The ground rumbled and quaked, throwing Harley off his balance a bit as he began to wobble and slide about. His footing was thrown off when he stepped onto a manhole that fired off out of the ground and up into the air.  Harley and subsequently Kal were literally launched away, quite quickly out of sight as a huge and rather distracting blob-monster appeared onto the scene. It didn't take long for it to manifest into it's now sixty foot dual-tailed sluggish body. The slime coated and sleek grey skin shining and the crystals placed on it's body literally glowing with radiation as the particles began to hone around it. The stone exoskeleton parted and morphed slightly as the same skeletal being appeared in the middle, hanging like a man in medieval prison. The skeleton's eyes grew piercing green spheres as it looked forward, unmoving for the obvious lack of muscles and tissue.

The massive creature then launched itself forward a massive arm sweeping to try and hit both Forcewave and Ranger in order to smash them into and possibly through the building nearby.

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Although momentarily occupied with the fact that the two men were thrown out of view by an exploding manhole cover Ranger’s attention was quickly drawn back to the sixty foot tall slug thing with a skeleton sticking out the middle of it, in front of him. Sure, he’d faced some pretty weird things in his day…Like a giant cloud monster that shot lightning bolts, or magic shadow imps when saving an elf princess from another planet, or even…well you get the picture. But this? This definitely took the trophy of number one weirdest thing he’d ever faced before and he wasn’t exactly wanting to go rushing into. Taking out an electric arrow, starting off small and working his way up to finish the thing off was out of the question. He notched it into his bow and fired off at the glowing green eyes of the skeleton.

It seemed like a logical place to fire it, in all the video games he played growing up as a kid the weak spot was usually somewhat obvious. Sure, in real life things didn’t always work like that, take cloud monster for example an electric net arrow stopped it, but it didn’t hurt to try. “Force, give it all you’ve got…I don’t know what the hell this thing is but Ive got money betting on the fact that this thing is what blew up the power plant not our newly flying friends.” Loading two traquilizer arrows next, simply to see if they’d do anything, he fired them off at the ooze type substance, aiming for what looked to be center mass on the slug. He’d never actually had to fight a slug before but he sure as hell wished he had some salt arrows right now. “Hey Force, you sure you can’t just shoot salt instead of electricity today?” He asked in jest trying to keep their mood up.

((bleh post is well bleh))

Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger) Empty Re: Obsessions and stolen convictions (Forcie-Ranger)

Post by Forceaus January 3rd 2015, 6:36 pm

The ground would continue to rumble as something rather large approached them from underneath the street they were standing on. It got closer and closer still. There was no doubt that whatever was underground right now, was after them. "Run, now." he yelled as he began to turn to run in the other direction. He didn't get very far however, as those two guys they had been chasing earlier were sent flying into the air and out of sight when a manhole cover came rocketing upwards. The manhole cover wasn't the only thing that came up though. So did the thing that had been causing the ground to shake.

It was a massive skeleton slug. That was the best way to describe it. It really was. A rather radioactive looking one too. Well, they may have found the thing that really attacked the plant. The slug swung at them with one of its arms, yes, it has arms. Forcewave jumped back to dodge it and sent a blast of lightning at it to deter it and test out just how much it could take.

He saw Ranger firing arrows at it. It looked like he was looking for a weak spot. Forcewave took a few steps back to create some distance between himself and the kaiju slug. He was standing near Ranger now as the archer shot another arrow at it. Despite the fact that they were facing a giant monster all of a sudden, neither of them was exactly panicking. In fact, Ranger made a quick joke about Forcewave being able to fire salt rounds as a power. "I wish I could do that. Could make a fortune selling it." he said before firing a volley of energy blasts at the creature, and watching what happened as they hit. "Hey, if you can cover me for a moment, I can defeat this thing really quickly." he told Ranger before taking a few more steps back as he prepared to gather energy.
