DEIRDRE O'HAIRE
A TRUE FLOWER CHILD

Basic Biography

Name: Deirdre Catherine O’Haire
Alignment: Neutral Good (NG)
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Caucasian, Irish-American
Hair: Red-Orange
Eyes: Pale Blue
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 134 lbs
Blood type: O+

The Looks

Deirdre O'Haire 6b508e4de8cf623da92459f76bdffd3c

Deirdre, like her parents before her, pulls off the hippie look with aplomb. The redhead’s fiery hair has yet to be cut, and it waves down her back like lava from a volcano. Her face, and skin in general, is extremely pale, and covered with freckles all across her face and arms. Deirdre’s eyes are a spring green, which can only be compared to the color of a sprig of mint. Deirdre wears all natural, fair trade clothing, usually loose and flowing to provide freedom, and her feet are clad in sandals or flipflops, if she isn’t going barefoot. Finally, Deirdre wears flower crowns upon her head, and she seemingly has one for every day of the year, and even in the harshest winters, she keeps a vibrant bouquet on her. When dealing with tougher missions or harsher climates, Deirdre will suit up more for protection; however, Deirdre's flower crown never goes away.

The Legacy

Personality:
Deirdre is a bonafide flower child, having been raised by her hyper-progressive parents. When Deirdre was 4 years old, her parents took her to Woodstock ‘99, an event that influenced the young girl’s impressionable mind. Ever since, Deirdre has defied ‘the Man’, protesting the what she believes to be ‘Big Government and Corporate America’. Though she partakes in a lot of counterculture activity, she is not as hardcore libertarian as her parents are. After she got her license, Deirdre’s parents got her a Volkswagen Type 2, a standard among the hippie movement, and she painted it in vibrant, multicolored flowers. Deirdre is very kind and loving, although she can also be standoffish and self-indulgent about her lifestyle. Because of this, she can be a little repelling until one gets close enough to her. She is rather anti-military, and is an avid defender of the environment, using her efforts to combat corporations and operations that threaten the ecosystem or planet. However, Deirdre also has a strong conscience that prevents her from posing as a deadly threat, and she understands where the line is drawn most of the time.

History:
Deirdre was born in New York, in the small town of Thompson in Sullivan county. Her parents raised her into the hippie community in their footsteps, and Deirdre’s interest in the culture, as well as her powers, blossomed during Woodstock, a major turning point in her life. Her parents, assuming her powers a trick of drugs, refused to put her in schools, instead homeschooling her and keeping her out of the institutions. As Deirdre got older, she got better at controlling her powers, able to prevent her from sprouting plants all around her. However, the house the family had been living in was already being overgrown by the plants Deirdre had unintentionally summoned, and they were forced to move. The family moved to Washington, closer to their relatives, and lived in a small house in the country. They have lived there since, and the family has had easily the best garden in the state.
Deirdre decided in high school to use her abilities to better the world, in her eyes, by protecting the ecosystem and peace. Her first act as a hero protected Washington forests from tree-clearing, which involved destroying construction equipment and sabotage. She tends for more ambiguousor legal threats, like ecological ‘evil’ companies and their activities, rather than humanity-threatening problems. Her heroic interests overlap at times, of course, especially with regards to planet-threatening villains. Though Deirdre’s heart is in the right place, she can misplace her efforts, often using disproportionate amounts of punishment for her target’s crimes, though she has never directly killed anyone.

The Powers

Power 1: Environmental Awareness

While not able to remotely influence the environment, Deirdre has an acute awareness of her natural surroundings. She can feel the presence of every tree, bush, and flower in the nearby vicinity, though she has to focus to do so, it’s not a latent ability. The closer she is to the ‘target’ of her sense, the better she can sense it, and her senses are even heightened if she’s in an area of dense vegetation, able to use her botanical friends to ‘see’ areas out of her line of sight. This can manifest in the form of sensing footprints left in a field of grass, branches pushed aside, or crushed flowers.

Power 2: Solar Regeneration

As chlorophyll flows readily through the cells of her body, Deirdre shares many traits with the plant kingdom. Chlorophyll's chief purpose of collecting solar energy is not lost on Deirdre’s human body, and while she is in contact with sunlight, her body can repair itself at an accelerated rate as the cells rebuild using the extra source of energy. Minor cuts, scrapes, and slight impairments patch themselves in a minute while she basks in the sun, and more serious gashes and grievous wounds take only a few minutes to recover from. Her cells can also store this solar energy, like tiny batteries, so even away from the sun that gives her power, she can still recover from her injuries, although at a slower rate.
In Sun: Small wounds heal in less than a minute, medium wounds take a minute or two, heavy wounds take a matter of minutes
Out of Sun: The time of healing is doubled

Power 3: Solar Powered

Regeneration is not the only use Deirdre gets from the extra energy source from the chlorophyll; the longer she is in the sun, the better her body performs physically as the solar power flows through her. She can run faster, jump higher, and hit harder. Because of the complexity of the process, Deirdre cannot regenerate herself while she draws on her energy for power, and vice-versa. She also cannot tap on stored energy to give herself a boost, so she only can access this ability while she has contact with the sun.
When Activated, raises Strength, Durability, and Speed by 2, but shuts down Solar Regeneration

Power 4: Green Thumb

Deirdre’s most impressive and offensively useful power is her ability to generate plant cells from her body to form plants from her entire body and on contact with surfaces. This ranges from nifty tricks like changing her crown or leaving flowers in her footprints to creating long vines as whips or thorns to be thrown as if they were needles. Not only limited to the attack, Deirdre can also create sturdy bark shields or armor to protect herself from opposition. Of course, these kinds of shields are not useful against powerful blades or fiery onslaught, but they still do in a pinch. She can also bring to life dead or dying plants by touching them, though it’s more of a novelty than a practical application. This ability requires no sunlight or existing plants in order to operate, so it is often her most useful.

Grid
Intelligence: 3
Occult: 0
Strength: 2
Speed: 2
Durability: 2
Ability: 8 (Green Thumb) / 5 (Solar Regeneration) / 4 (Solar Powered) / 1 (Environmental Awareness)
Fighting Skills: 3
Magic: 0
Spells: 0
Flight: 0
Wealth: 1

I hope that Deirdre's powers do not fall under the category of 'Environmental Control' for banned powers, I can change them if they are too similar. As for stats, I realize that having twos in stats is advised against, but I feel her Solar Powered ability makes an even trade. If there are any discrepancies in the application, do not hesitate to tell me and I will fix them.

Read here under the ability spoiler for how fast healing powers work.

For the solar powered ability, with 5 points spent you can increase your stats by 5 points. You also need a duration and cooldown applied to it.

You don't have to have the regeneration deactivated in order to use the solar powered ability, but if you want to then go ahead. Other than what I've mentioned, this character is good to go.
