The Legacy

Personality: Like you would expect, Aurelius' defining characteristic is his exceptional willpower. He does what he wants, and will not be deterred from it for anyone. He's disobedient, stubborn, and not at all reasonable. He's a free spirit, essentially. Though, this resistance to rules doesn't mean he's a burn the flag rebel. He's quite orderly and logical, and isn't a contrarian just to be a contrarian. He's less a deviant that doesn't like to be told what to do and more a maverick that follows his own path no matter what.

Besides his willpower, Aurelius is goal-driven, quick on his feet, and focused. He's always the person to take the initiative, and has strong opinions despite the fact, as a Warden, he has no real stake in human affairs beyond his duties. He's always up and doing something unpredictable, often in objection to orders. In truth, he's quite an overbearing person to be around if you don't know how to deal with him. He doesn't give an inch to anyone for anything, ever.

Being a Warden, he has some of the standard traits you might associate with them, such as disconnection from the norms of humanity, an authoritative presence, high intelligence, and a powerful sense of duty (even if he doesn't always fulfill it in the way others want.)

History: Aurelius is a Warden, born at the beginning of time as an essential guardian and operator of the concept of Will. He is a universal necessity—a cause brought about by an effect. Him and the other Wardens have pulled the universe's cranks and levers for as long as they could remember. They aren't Gods, no, but they are the beings who's job it is to keep concepts working. Their purpose is that of unseen movers. They sit in their veil dimension, carrying out the mechanisms of existence.

Aurelius is perhaps one of the most disobedient and individualistic of his kind. Though it annoys the others, they put up with it simply because they know it is his nature, and that cannot be changed without consequences. This, however, doesn't mean he hasn't stepped over the line a few times. He has received the most punishment from the Elders of any other Warden, and is currently on thin ice. He's suspended, basically.

How did he draw the rebuke of his fellow Wardens? Well, see, when Amor, the Elder Warden of Love, was killed and subsequently corrupted, Aurelius sided with them instead of the others in a centuries-long conflict. It was rumored the two were engaging in a forbidden relationship, and this all but confirmed it. Even when Amor became deranged enough to destroy fellow Wardens, Aurelius held his ground, staying by the one he loved, though he did so with great self hatred.

Their union created a child, which was also forbidden, and sentenced to death by default. Luckily, the boy's parents managed to shield him from the other Wardens, spiriting him off to live on Earth until it was safe. That time never came, however.

The war ended after the combined forces of all the Elders brought the pair down. They restored Amor to normalcy, but it was Aurelius who was punished most. Being a lesser Warden, and completely uncorrupted, he was seen as even more responsible for the conflict than Amor. He was a traitor—a Judas.

Even still, the Wardens had already lost too many. They weren't willing to take on the load of duties that would be unfilled if either Amor or Aurelius were to be destroyed. They instead put them back to work, but with an unspoken apathy constantly hanging over them. They were once again under the thumb of their own kind, and they could do nothing about their son being relentlessly hunted without risking their own destruction. They had to fulfill their duties, even now that they felt like chains.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Willpower Empowerment: The strength of all of Aurelius' abilities increases based on the amount of Willpower displayed by himself and others in close proximity (half a mile radius).

Dominion: As a Warden, Aurelius has a degree of authority over the mortal world. This manifests itself in powerful telekinesis. With a simply gesture, he can manipulate practically anything kinetically. The potential power of this ability, like most of his others, depends on the amount of Willpower in the area fueling his powers. At the lowest level, he might only be able to move a few thousand pounds, and at the highest, he is capable of insane feats of power, such as tossing buildings around.

Nigh Invulnerability: Wardens are practically immune to standard forms of physical damage. Only when they are exposed to their Fatal Weakness for extended periods of time are they weakened enough to be hurt normally. But, most of the time only insanely high level forces seem to have any sort of effect (This power can be overwhelmed, but for all practical purposes it gives Aurelius immunity to damage by standard means. This says nothing of swords that can cut anything or energies that rip atoms apart on a microscopic level, or any other crazy things a lot of characters are packing.)

Universal Travel: Wardens can travel anyway in the known universe at anytime, and bring anything they touch and focus on with. However, due to the nature of how they step through space, they require around a minute for their consciousness to 're-calibrate' before they can travel again.

Illusions: Wardens can project powerful illusions over those in the mortal realm. These illusions can encompass all standard biological senses, and can be whatever the Warden wishes them to be.

Shape Changing: Wardens can decide what form they take, so long as it's humanoid, but most have a preferred appearance.

Unbreakable Will: Aurelius has one of the most powerful wills in existence.  The illusions of others don't do anything against him, telepaths can't get in his head at all, and he generally expels any threat to him that can be expelled mentally instantly. No temptations or manipulations with this Warden.

Transcendence: Once per topic, if Aurelius were ever pushed to the point of near defeat, he may transcend his limitations through sheer force of will, allowing him to return to a state where he at least has a fighting chance.

We're Unstoppable: Aurelius can fill the hearts of those around him with great tenacity, igniting their souls to action (permission based).

Weaknesses

Fatal Weakness: Enough doubt, cowardice, or lack of motivation—a lack of willpower—in an area is Aurelius' Fatal Flaw. He is severely weakened depending on the severity of exposure, becoming completely mortal at the extreme.

Focus: Aurelius must focus in order to teleport or use Dominion, meaning anything that produces a decent distraction can prevent him from using those abilities.

Elder Warden Weapons: Aurelius can be destroyed or banished instantly with an Elder Warden Weapon.

Weapon Loss: If by some means Aurelius is separated from his weapon, it can be used to control him by anyone learned in the mystical arts on at least an elementary level.

Those I Love: Aurelius' loved ones, specifically Xerxes and Amor, can be used to control him if he's properly blackmailed.

Banishment Spells: There exist several banishment spells that can be learned by a moderately skilled magician to banish Wardens back to their home realm.

Confinement Spells: There exist several confinement spells that can be learned by a moderately skilled magician to trap Wardens in a certain area.

Teleportation Issues: Wardens know when a place is clear for them to teleport to it as soon as they choose to do so, but if something were to be put into the spot they were teleporting to the instant they made the jump (and thus already having made the decision), the object would impale them.

Corruption: Through thorough verbal assault and exposure to their fatal weakness, Wardans can be made to give into their corrupted Handler persona without needing to be killed.

Items

Stalwart: Aurelius' Warden Weapon. It is a shield that he can summon and dismiss at will, and can only be separated from him with powerful magic or technology. It has ridiculous stopping power. If someone wielding it charged a train with it, the train would crash into it and be crushed, but the wielder would be unmoved. It's practically indestructible, and reflects force and energy sent it's way back to it's source. It can also be thrown at high speeds, hitting with the impact of a standard tank shell.

RP Mechanics

Warden Physiology: Aurelius is a Warden, and as such is an angelic, ageless being free from the necessitates of mortality. Things that specifically effect Wardens effect him, and many things that would effect lesser beings, such as a lack of oxygen, don't. He's a supernatural force more than a type of physical being, his existence tethered to the Warden realm rather than the mortal one (Used as explanation for why the permission based aspects of powers such as telekinesis cannot directly manipulate him.)
