Vali actually has two different outfits that he wears depending on the occasion. Each represents something different, and each is used when a differing purpose is trying to be achieved. The first outfit, as shown above, is one of total mystery. Almost no shape is given away. Vali wears this cloak when causing mischief, and when he wants to go places without being detected. Acting as Loki's will and someone that wishes to fulfill Loki's doings, Vali wears this cloak while in numerous situations, said to be the cloak Loki wore upon his first entrance into Asgard.

The second outfit that Vali wears is one of less mystery. In fact, the outfit is extremely flashy and can easily draw in attention. Made of tight fitting black material that is similar to leather, spandex, and plastic, but is none of them, and yet a seeming combination of all of them. This material is a material that can only be found in Asgard, synthesized in the realm of the giants, and brought with Loki when he first arrived in Asgard. It has multiple sections and covers his entire body, aside from the face and head. Often times, Vali wears this under his cloak, shown above.

Personality:

Cunning, silent, and always watching. Vali is the king of thinking, always making sure to understand the world around him, always taking in information, and using it to build on everything that he is. Vali has a complex personality that is hard to sum up with mundane words. Within this complexity, there are numerous key factors. The first key factor is that Vali is misunderstood. While living each day as though he were his own being, Vali is actually nothing more than a shadow of his father, trying his best to live up to the expectations that his father ones left. As if trying to imitate that image and abilities of a god, Vali allows himself no room for failure, and relies on what he thinks are the more important components of the art of war in order to pull through, and last. This said, Vali is not one to fight, and is not much a fan of combat. It does not mean that he cannot be violent, but instead that he is more obsessed and interesting in others. Like a psychologist, always studying other's next move, or the reason behind why someone did what they did the way they did it, Vali is always watching, and learning from other's actions. Always studying, until one day he is able to imitate and react to them. Vali lives his entire life forming hypothesis after hypothesis until he is ready to make a move. This move is often not the kind of move in combat that someone would expect - Vali will never, or rarely ever, run into combat with a large battle ax screaming a war theme and attacking another. He knows that he is not fit for this kind of combat. Despite being of the gods, he is not stronger than even some of the lowly mortals around him. Vali, in his own way, is almost innocent. While watching other's with real interest, he longs to be loved, and cared for. He does what he does because he wants to prove that he is worth something, despite the fact that he is hardly ever listed in legend. He feels forgotten. Jealous even. He wishes to be known as the mighty son of Loki, or something to that effect, but knows, deep inside, that he is not the kind of individual to be crowned with such a name. Because of this inner innocence, and almost child like behavior, it is hard for others, or even himself, to classify him as evil, or good, despite the fact that he performs actions that could easily, and readily be classified as either. His alliance is, for the most part, to himself, and others that he forms bonds with, should they prove useful, or of emotional value. What is more, he relies purely on his manipulation to be able to allow others to "see his point of view."

This brings me to the next bit of Vali's complex personality. Being of the gods has played many huge effects on Vali, and the kind of person that he is. He is, as stated, always watching. Genuinely curious about what it is that motivates a human, about what it is that causes a human to pick up an ax and run. He is always trying to figure out why the humans were created, and looks at them as nothing more than his own play toy. Egotistical thoughts allow him to wind his mentality around others in the form of overwhelming intellect, and tact that allows him to form a more dense ax, figuratively speaking. Also, being the son of Loki has bestowed many intense, almost genetic traits onto Vali. Growing up within his father's shadow, as the only child of Loki that was not destined to do anything, or did not have some huge meaning for the realm, he was also forced to rely on his own will to survive. Because of this, Vali developed a powerful ability to act, always employing it as a way to bend rules, corners, expectations, and anything that he wanted to bend. A silver tongue, one might say, only more expansive than this. Vali has taken his ability to use words to produce whatever effect he wants on others to a higher level than even his father, Loki, and has learned to manipulate and throw his entire body into whatever kind of act he wants, effectively making him a powerful actor that is unable to be seen through - even by other extremely talented actors, or lie detectors. Calm, cool, collected, Vali is never afraid of an opponent, should he ever come up against one, despite knowing his own weaknesses, he is confident that he can find the same weaknesses within his opponent, and use his mind to exploit them faster than they would be able to. However, this said, Vali is smarter than to think that he can out match certain individuals at his level of combat prowess, never honoring himself with self esteem in the combat area, and thus will withdraw in most cases in order to preserve himself.

History:

In Norse mythology, the evil trickster fire god, always mischievous, deceptive, and scheming, and one of the most well-known characters in Norse poetry and saga. As his name is derived from the Germanic root of flame, Loki is believed to have originally been a fire spirit. He was a trickster figure, and, as a shape-shifter, could become different animals at will. He was the father of two sons, Nari (or Narfi) and Vali, by his wife, the Asynjur goddess Sigyn (Siguna). But since he could also assume the shape of the opposite sex, he could give birth, and he had a number of other offspring in this way. In the surviving literature, Loki's name is mentioned more than that of any other god, and he is certainly one of the most inventive conceptions in folklore. He was a participant in many of the gods adventures, often accompanying the principal god Odin, or Odin's son the thunder god Thor, on their travels, though he was always stirring up trouble. Loki was able to charm everyone, despite his deep cunning, with his cleverness and good looks. In the 'Prose (or Younger) Edda', Loki is cited as one of the 12 Aesir gods. Strictly speaking, however, in the Norse pantheon Loki was not a god but a giant, since he was the son of the giant Farbauti (Dangerous Striker) and the giantess Laufey, or Nal. This is why he was sometimes referred to as Loki Laufeyiarson. He had brothers named Byleist and Helblindi. Although he was usually an antagonist to the gods, he sometimes lived in Asgard, the heavenly realm of the gods. The gods and the giants were usually enemies, but at some time in the distant past he had taken an oath with Odin that made them blood brothers, and because of these ties, the other gods enjoyed his company and tolerated his excesses and schemes until they got out of hand.

Loki was always thinking up new angles - sometimes these worked to the advantage of the gods, but often they led to disastrous consequences. When the gods burnt the giantess Angerbotha as a witch, Loki ate her heart and as a result became impregnated. He gave birth to three monstrous children who later threatened the world: the wolf Fenrir, the serpent Jormungand (the Midgard Serpent, or World Serpent), and the goddess Hel. Odin flung the serpent into the depths of the sea that surrounded the world and set Hel down in the underworld to be its queen. The Aesir were able to leash the huge Fenrir, but the god Tyr lost his right hand in the effort. According to the 'Prose Edda', it was Loki who thought of a plan to cheat the architect and builder of Asgard, a giant, out of his payment. Assuming the shape of a mare, Loki seduced the giant's stallion Svadilfæri. The horse was essential to completing the work on time, and the dalliance delayed the giant's task. In this case, the gods were grateful for Loki's intervention, for had the giant finished on time, they would have had to turn over the sun, the moon, and the beautiful goddess Freya to him. As a result of this episode, Loki, as a mare, gave birth to the swiftest horse in the world, the eight-legged Sleipnir. Loki had a hand in the disappearance of the goddess Idunn. He lured her outside Asgard so she could be kidnapped by the giant Thiassi. Since Idunn was the keeper of the golden apples of youth, which the gods needed to eat to keep from growing old, they were anxious to get her back, and they therefore forced Loki to use his trickery and magic to retrieve her from Jotunheim (Giantland). Loki aided Thor in deceiving the giant Thrym, who had stolen the thunder god's magic hammer, Mjolnir. Thrym wanted to exchange the hammer for Freya, and Thor himself went in her stead, impersonating the beautiful goddess. Loki accompanied him, disguised as Freya's handmaiden. Loki's quick answers to Thrym's questions about the bride kept the ruse from being discovered too soon.
Loki was a seasoned thief. He stole Freya's famous Brisingamen necklace and hid it in the sea. He fought the god Heimdall in a battle for it in which both of them assumed the shape of seals. The shining god Heimdall, watchman of the gods, was a particular adversary of Loki's. Their animosity was to culminate at Ragnarok, the battle at the end of the world, when the two gods would engage in mortal combat and kill each other.

In another story Loki cut off the beautiful blonde hair of Thor's wife, Sif. Thor was ready to kill him, and Loki, fearful but always scheming, promised to make Sif a better head of hair out of pure gold that would root and grow just like real hair. After calming Thor's rage with this promise, Loki went to the Sons of Ivald, dwarfs of the forge. He had them make not only the golden hair for Sif, but a magic ship, Skidbladnir, and a magic spear, Gungnir, which later belonged to Odin. But Loki loved to gamble, and he wagered with two other dwarf smiths, Brokk and Sindri, that they would be unable to forge objects comparable to those made by the Sons of Ivald. Brokk and Sindri then forged the magic ring Draupnir, a golden boar, and Mjolnir, the magic hammer that Thor was to use ever after. But as they worked, Loki, who had disguised himself as a fly, stung them continually to distract them so that he could win his bet. When the gods had seen all these marvelous objects, they declared that Brokk and Sindri had won. Loki vanished, but Thor caught him. Brokk wanted to decapitate the trickster god, but in the end Loki convinced him merely to sew up his lips so he could no longer fast-talk his way out of difficulties. But Loki painfully pulled the threads out of his wounds and was free to lie again, and the gods were the beneficiaries of the wonderful magic creations the dwarfs had made.

In some stories, Loki is merely too clever for his own good; in others, he performs terrible acts out of sheer maliciousness, jealousy, and spitefulness. A poem in the 'Poetic (or Elder) Edda', describes how Loki intruded on a banquet given by the sea god Aegir for all the gods and goddesses. He had not been invited, but since he was polite, they let him stay. Then he began to viciously insult each of them in turn, no matter how conciliatory they tried to be. Since Loki knew most of their secrets, he was able to genuinely embarrass them all. Finally Thor's wife, Sif, offered him a bowl of mead, and asked him to stop his insults. Loki drank it, but then revealed that he had once had a sexual encounter with Sif. Immediately Thor appeared, ready yet again to kill Loki, and Loki began insulting him as well. Finally, afraid that Thor would carry out his threat, Loki left, still in a foul mood, saying that the gods would never again have such a banquet and cursing the host, his home, and all his possessions with the statement that they would all be set aflame. This mention of destruction by fire was a foreshadowing of Loki's role as leader of the forces of evil at Ragnarok.

Loki's most terrible deed before the end of the world, however, was to cause, through trickery and sheer maliciousness, the death of Balder, Odin's beautiful and peaceful son, whom all the other gods loved dearly. Loki disguised himself as an old woman and tricked Balder's mother Frigg into revealing Balder's weakness, and then tricked Balder's blind brother, Hod, into killing the innocent god. After Balder's death, Loki, disguised as a giantess named Thokk (Thanks), was the only creature in the universe who refused to weep for Balder's death, and this meant that Balder would have to stay in Hel until the end of the world. This time Loki had gone too far, and the gods, in their grief and anger, had to punish him. Knowing that they would come after him, Loki fled Asgard and hid in a mountain. At its summit he built a house as a lookout from which he could see in all directions. But he often turned himself into a salmon and hid in a waterfall called Franang (or Franangr). Odin soon spied Loki's hideout from his lofty tower throne, Hlidskjalf, and the gods came after him with a fishnet. At first Loki was able to avoid it, but Thor, with his great strength, waded along the middle of the river until the net almost reached the sea. Finally Loki, as the salmon, had no alternative but to leap up over the top of the net, and as he did, Thor got hold of his tail. Once captured, Loki was taken to a deep cave. The gods took three stone slabs, set them on edge, and made a hole in each. They sent for Loki's sons Vali and Nari (or Narfi). The gods turned Vali into a wolf, and he immediately tore his brother to pieces. Then the gods took Nari's entrails and used them to bind Loki across the stones, with one stone under his shoulders, one under his loins, and one under the backs of his knees. Once bound, these cords turned into iron. The giantess Skadi brought a poisonous snake to the cave and set it above Loki's head so that its poison would drip onto his face. There they left him, and there he would stay until the time of Ragnarok, when he would break free of his bonds, summon up all the wretched souls in Hel, and lead the forces of evil in battle against the gods. But until then he would remain bound, with his faithful wife, Sigyn, holding a basin over him to catch the poison drops. When the basin filled she would go to empty it, letting the poison drip for a brief time onto Loki's face. At these times, Loki strainecd at his bonds and jerked so hard in his agony that he rattled the Earth. This was the Norse explanation for the phenomenon of earthquakes.

Vali, however, moved on, and broke the transformation of the wolf that he had been placed in. In order to further punish Loki, Vali was said to have been banished, when, in reality, the gods actually simply lost track of him. Vali ended up in the realm of the humans, where he had removed himself to remove the temptation to trick the gods as his father once had, and be banished and punished with similar destructive consequences. That said, he grew a hatred for the gods, and their cruel attitude towards his father - the only individual among the gods who he respected for being pure genius. Loki, in fact, was simply the smartest of them all, and this was something that he had passed onto Vali. Now Vali is within the human's realm, living and scheming just as his father did, only playing his tricks on the humans where he could not be banished to such a dull existence.

Powers:

Photographic Memory (INT):

Due to his god like intelligence that soars above that of the average mortal, Vali is able to construct perfect call back. Because of this, Vali has what is called a photographic memory. This allows him to actually see images, memorize instantly, recall situations in utter perfection, and remember long past things in perfect clarity. This does not effect his other powers, aside from the fact that this ability to memorize every single element of any given thing allows him to make even clearer illusions and images.

Perfected Trickster (INT):
Vali, as stated and further explained in his personality comes from a long line of tricks and manipulations. Being deemed the closest in relation to his father, Loki, Vali has picked up on many of the tricks of the trade when it comes to manipulation. As such, Vali has developed what most would consider a silver tongue - although he expands on it. Vali has developed the ability to act to a point that is almost unable to be seen through. Able to do much more than cry on cue, Vali can express any emotion he wishes with absolute soul, and cause it to look like a reality. Vali, in some cases, has been able to drop so far into any given character that he will even start to think like them, of course unable to go above and beyond his own natural intelligence. Lying and acting are done perfectly by Vali, and he can monitor every tone in his voice, and every movement of his body, as well as every emotion that flows through him with perfect ease - gaining complete control over his own emotions. This allows him to man handle them, and throw them about, as well as pull them in to whatever he would consider home in order to portray whatever he wishes.

Skillful Coordination (INT):
Through coming into the human's world, and experiencing what exactly it is that they do within the world of the mortals, Vali has been able to pick up on it quite fast. This is mostly due to his stunningly high intelligence that leaves him smarter than the smartest, but this has earned him the ability to master most of what he tries to master within the first attempt. In combination with his photographic memory, and soaring smarts, he is able to master a lot of things quickly. Because of this quick learning, Vali has picked up a huge number of languages, even dead languages that are no longer used. However, the main focus of this power, or natural ability is simply that of being able to work skillfully with mechanics, albeit he has received numerous materials from Asgard, with which he plans to use in creations of his own - creations that he will learn to work with well.

Silver Tongued Illusions (6 EP):

Vali's abilities are stemmed from his father, Loki. Following in his foot steps, Vali has learned to master the magic of illusions to a degree that would rival even that of his father. Vali's abilties come from his power to send out his mental projections to form seemingly physical illusions. This is done by using high level magic, granted to him by the genetics and trained mastery of his father, Loki. Vali, being the closest in relation to Loki has learned to hone his abilities to a level that not many others have seen before. Because of his god like prowess with these tricks, he is able to instantly cause huge illusions, just as easily as minor illusinos. These illusions use his high level of intelligence, as well as his naturally creative mind to procure something all too real looking to easily shrug off by any individual.

These illusions are set by creating a link to the victim and Vali through their created sensory action. This means that if Loki is able to hear them, see them, smell them, taste them, or touch them, he is able to conjure and bring forth illusions. This is just one way to go about it. Another, for Vali, is the ability to implant his illusion magic in an object, or area, that will lash out and grab at the victim's mind upon entering the area, or seeing the object. This is done so that the opponent will, in theory, never know that an illusion was sprung upon them.

These illusions can vary in shape, form, size, brilliance, complexity, and many other factors, making them highly malleable and open to change, even throughout the illusion. Once the illusion is cast, Vali has the ability to manipulate it in any way he wants. What is more, these illusions are able to use the placebo effect at a high level, do to their seeming reality. Where other illusions may rely on natural trickery and cunning situations, these are so real that the illusion is solid enough to convince an onlooker that the illusion is just as real as something picked out of reality. Because of this, it is rare for the placebo effect not to take place.

In terms of variety, Vali has almsot all of the variety in the world when casting illusions. What Vali is capable of doing, as well as what sets him apart from illusion users that dwell in the mortal realm, is cast one larger, umbrella illusion on the victim(s), and from there, manipulate their perception of reality through those illusions and smaller tricks. This can mean making himself appear to duplicate, just as easily as it means changing the aesthetics of the surrounding environment. Also, this allows Vali to push the illusion powers further so that his illusions can seemingly effect the victim, not simply external illusions. An example of this would be causing the victim to watch there finger turn red, glow, and then fade (this is purely an example, and as such the illusion prowess is not limited to this level of magic). Because of this, Vali can change what he likes about opponent's aesthetics. As with all of his illusions, these effects are not real, and cause no real effects.

Also, Vali has learned to overlap illusions and hallucinations. Also, he has the ability to, like the title of illusions dictates, change what the opponent(s) can see, and by doing such is able to make his illusions seem more real. Lastly, Vali has learned to create and bring to life what some might call "pre-recorded illusions." These are no unlike voice mails on the phone. With the ability to plant an illusion within an area or in an object, Vali has the ability to set his illusions to activate when the right or specified person looks at them (this specification can be very broad, and does not have to be names, for example). These illusions are just as powerful as all of his illusions, and can generate sound perfectly, as well as the other effects of Vali's illusions. As a side note, when Vali conjures his illusions, he is able to, by law of his power, allow them to remain like the person that they are imitating; this means that the voice they speak with will not be Vali's but their own. Also, Vali has the ability to tap into his illusions, albeit more limited ability, when they are activated when he is not there. In this way, he can cause illusions to spring forth in his absence, should they be placed before hand, and he will be notified through a small twang in his mind that allows him to manipulate them from afar.

Loki's Son's Disguise (3 EP):

This ability is completely original to the powers of Vali's father, Loki. With this ability, another part of Vali and Loki's deception, Vali will use the powers granted and bestowed on him to be able to morph and change his body at a physical level into almost whatever shape he wants. Vali can instantly assume the shape of another thing, whether that be animal or object. This transformation was seen in mythology right at the start, when Vali was morphed into a wolf in order to attack and kill his brother, and his entrails were used as bindings to tie down his father. This ability has been honed even further, no longer needing the magic of other gods to use as a catalyst. Instead, without hesitation, Vali is able to change his body, and everything about it match the presence of another animal, or inanimate objects with ease. Vali has not come across a limit on shape nor intricacy of his shape shifting, seeing as he is the son of the most powerful shape shifter within all of the gods, and all of mythology as a whole. However there is another section to this ability, and it comes with the fine tuning of his ability. Stemming from the tails and stories of Loki and his trek into giant's territory in order to rescue the goddess that was in charge of growing the golden apples that kept all of the gods immortal, Vali heard of Loki's ability to mask parts of himself, but not all of himself. In the story, Loki partially turns himself into what would be considered a female, however his own featured still shone through. Because of this, Vali has practiced this concept until he has come across the ability to morph any part(s) of his body into something other than his own body and allow them to take on the appearance/substance of something entirely different. Because of the purity of this transformation, Vali will be able to fully transform himself into whatever it is that he wishes with a perfect copying ability. This ability allows Vali to also morph and change into objects or animals that can fly (as payed for in my power grid points) with just as much ease as any other kind of transformation. Vali has also learned to excel and push his transforming ability into that of actually mocking and mimicking other human forms. This ability is aided by Vali's photographic memory, able to have instant and perfect recall at all moments so as to better the perfection of the aesthetics of any shape shift. This shape shifting is instant, and works to one hundred percent of its potential. While transformed, Vali gains the ability to tap into the natural senses, and general strengths of the objects that he has morphed with. This is because the transformation calls on magic that is so powerful that is can actually change Vali's genetic make up in order to copy the substance/person/animal he is changing into. Vali will keep hold of his mentality throughout the entire transformation, and will be fully able to speak, see, hear, touch, taste, and act normally within any shape that he takes, regardless of whether it is inanimate or not. What is more, while changed into another thing, Vali can copy the vocal tones of that person/animal/object, depending on what sounds it makes. Also, Vali can copy basic functionality of more complex transformations that might not be human. This does not give him the ability to copy other people powers, should they have them, but allows him to more easily sink into their demeanor. Because of this, Vali's transformations are seen to be at par with his legendary father, Loki.

There was a clear, silent commotion banging around him. As if the golden walls forged on nothing more than perfection cried out in agony as Vali ran from step to step, his speed picked up as natural gravity grabbed at him. Each soft slip of clothing wove in the windless breeze in the ever off putting existence that was Asgard. It was brilliant, full of color, and yet too bright, and too astonishing for someone like Vali. His eyes had seemingly never adjusted, like those that looked into a sun that constantly got more and more bright. His feet slid around a corner, and his cloak followed with a graceful sweeping motion, falling once the momentum allowed it. His movements were all but silent, his own shadow whipping at the metals that glimmered around him. Vali's face held only concentration present on it. He was in need of motion, and speed. Each bend, or slight budge sent him whirling around, stopped for a second, his body pivoted and on guard. However, Vali would only return to his great escape.

It seemed like hours, rolling over from minute to minute until finally Vali made it out of the laborious setting of the Asgard castle where he had grown up in slight captivity, always living under his father's shadow, and always hearing about punishment after punishment. He had developed a kind of hatred for this place, and it was all for the better that he left. He had done something terrible, and something that would only allow his father to look down upon him in disgust. No, he had to leave. There was no more safety for him here. Vali's movements lead him to being even more cautious as he left the protective covering of the castle of the gods. He was never one of them - never actually a god, but a demi god. He had been looked down upon, used, and abused, torn into something of horrible nature. Vali's teeth clenched together as he rounded a corner. Three guards stood in full attention, each looking as thought stiffened from strict rule. Vali's hand waved, and each guard jolted into motion, as if to lung forth and grab at him, however each was stopped before they could continue. Each spat in the direction of Vali, unable to do anything else but grunt at their instant defeat. Vali's hand fell as he left the arch that they had been guarding, only for them to find that Vali was gone.

The silent commotion became more and more audible as Vali hid, his breath coming out in light spurts as he tried his best to maintain his breathing so as not to draw attention to himself. Vali's hand's covered his mouth, his mind still in shock, and his anger intense. It was nothing more than his cool, and compassionate inside voice telling him to leave without taking Asgardian life, and they would pass it over. Still, he had been used by the gods, as if he were something less. Was he to be used in such a way? Was his father really to be abused in the way that he had watched with his own, greedy eyes. Vali's body had moved on its own in that moment - when Odin had placed him under the influence of a monster that tore at his own brother. Vali's fists clenched, grabbing onto the ground, and the small, odd chinks and bends in the royally made Asgard towards and buildings. These men were lower than humans because they decided to play god while they ran around with much more immaturity than the stupid gods. Humans were like insects, but these gods were like scum - claiming to be the boot, when really they were nothing more than the insects that they had created. Vali bit his lip before rising, his cloak washing around his ankles before he stepped out, quietly and passively, wandering a back way to the Bifrost.
