A burst of light [open] Empty A burst of light [open]

Post by Beacon November 8th 2014, 2:39 pm

Rowan sighed loudly to himself. He had been quite bored lately, not really talking to anyone. After the last incident, he rarely left his house. The last time he did, he was nearly killed, lost his virginity, and alone again all within the span of a day. It was simply too much for him to handle, and he decided to isolate himself for a long while. He hadn't been using his powers, either, and it was starting to have an effect on his health. Firstly, he wasn't getting nearly enough sunlight, which thrust him into a perpetual state of feeling ill. Secondly, the seasons were changing, which always made him feel even worse. He looked down at his hands, and let some violet light flicker from his fingers. The normally bright light, was rather dull and dim. He was almost certain that he needed to get outside, or some drastic health effects were going to take place.

He pulled on a t-shirt, and some shorts, which weren't the best attire for a November day, but the more skin exposed to the sun, the better he would feel. Unfortunately, there wasn't really much in the way of seclusion in Chicago, so he travelled to a park that he knew didn't get a lot of visitors. With a sharp breath, and hands raised toward the sky, he shut his eyes and began to 'charge'. He knew that he was radiating a rainbow of colors, and any passerby would probably be very confused, but his body was deprived of something he desperately needed. And desperate times called for desperate measures. The light felt so good, he didn't know that he was absorbing a bit too much, and the excess energy was so focused, that it melted through his shoes, and was now melting through the bench.

It took only a few more moments for Rowan to realize he was absorbing too much. He quickly stopped 'charging', though the burning feeling wouldn't go away. With a grunt, he raised his fist into the air and let out a very bright, very hot beam of light, lasting about ten seconds. It was the only way Rowan knew how to deal with excess energy. After the beam dissipated, Rowan lowered his fist and looked at his hand. There were minor burns, which were annoying, but not fatal. What he was more worried about was anyone who may have seen the beam of light. With a slight grimace, Rowan realized that his self-chosen codename, was all too accurate.

A burst of light [open] Empty Re: A burst of light [open]

Chicago, a place that Colin had never really had the pleasure of visiting beforehand but here he was now. The why was rather simple really, Travis had sent him out that way and said something about him needing to pursue further school, college to be exact. Apparently the bastard had looked into his references, and before he knew it, he was supposed to be moving into an apartment in Chicago and would be starting classes soon, much to his chagrin. So now he was in said apartment, though it was pretty large compared to the usual fare that he was allowed, so that was a plus. A large bedroom, and things of that nature along with his own vehicle, courtesy of his employer. Which meant either he was that valuable, or a certain Masters had an eye for him. Regardless of possible romantic conspiracy theories, he still had an exercise routine to adhere to, and that involved some good ole jogging.

With how windy Chicago was, he would have to wear something more than just shorts to keep from getting a nasty wind chill. So he chose to wear a pair of sweat pants, and a simple t-shirt, slipping into a pair of beaten tennis shoes and slipping out the door. Not his most flattering wear, but then again he was not going to impress anyone. Travis had told him of a par nearby, so he could probably do a little jogging around there, before maybe finding a gym to join up with, as he still had his handy dandy credit card on hand. With that in mind, his short walk towards the park would begin, though it was more of a jog than anything and within a few moments he was there. The cold air did burn his lungs some, but it helped wake him up from last nights long sleep.

It was when he reached the park that he took notice of a rather strange phenomenon, which was a light coming from a part of the park itself. Colin blinked slightly, considering the possibility it was a metahuman, and still moving to investigate. He would have to sneak to avoid perhaps startling said metahuman and getting zapped with the mysterious light, though he could move on from there. What had ended up greeting his eyes was what looked like a red haired male shooting this light into the sky. He would consider the situation for a moment before reacting, though the guy did not seem all too dangerous, or at least violent. ”Nice show there, though it is a little....flashy.” He would note, stepping from his hiding place behind a small array of bushes.

A burst of light [open] Empty Re: A burst of light [open]

Post by Beacon November 8th 2014, 5:14 pm

As soon as Rowan heard another person, he immediately felt nervous. Just a few weeks ago, he had almost been killed, which had made him very nervous around other people. He wondered if he was going to become some kind of hermit or something. Rowan was definitely viewing his powers as more of a curse than anything else. He wasn't exactly strong, as evidence by the recent fight where he had to be saved by several people—and then ended up sleeping with one of his rescuers, who subsequently lost contact with him. Rowan felt pretty sad about that, but there wasn't much he could do about it. Rowan didn't really have any friends in Chicago, and the loneliness was starting to get to him. But that wasn't going to surpass his cautiousness.

Rowan sincerely hoped that this man was not going to attack him. Sure, Rowan had just recharged, but that didn't mean he was up for a fight. Not like he even could. He'd probably be killed in about fifteen seconds. “Who are you?” His tone came out a bit meaner than he intended, and his accent was very thick. He considered running away for a moment, but figured that it would be impolite or something, or piss off the other guy. Rowan waited nervously for an answer.

Colin took note of the hesitance within the male's voice, feeling perhaps a little bad about just sneaking up on him, but it wasn't as if he was trying to hurt him or anything. Besides, a metahuman would totally wreck a poor human like him, especially with absolutely no combat training. ”I'm sorry if I startled you. My name's Colin, I was just jogging and I saw the light.” He said making himself look as nonthreatening as possible. However he did take notice of the accent the male was sporting, drawing a small smirk on his lips as he considered where he was from. So some kind of scottish metahuman was letting of the light? ”It was hard not to notice, you have a really brilliant power.” he noted hands burying into his pockets. ”Once again, sorry if I snuck up on you or anything, I was just curious.”

“No, it's fine,” Rowan said ruefully. He felt really bad for being so outwardly mean to the other guy, who actually seemed to be pretty nice, at least on the outside. Rowan didn't really feel threatened by him, and was about sixty percent sure that he wasn't going to get killed. “My name is Rowan, nice to meet you,” He changed his tone, hopefully sounding friendlier, or at least more polite. Rowan really wasn't sure how to respond to the compliment about his powers. Rowan thought they were pretty stupid compared to other metahumans he met. “Uh, thanks. It's not so cool, really. Just light.” He felt the smallest blush prickle in his cheek. Compliments always made him a bit uneasy “S-So do you have powers or something?”

”Nah, its like totally cool....or maybe warm. I don't think lights supposed to be cool.” He would note aloud, rubbing his chin lightly while considering what he said, then catching the male giving out his name to him. It was an interesting name, reminded him of a wood almost, though with the accent it had a certain charm to it. The male would then ask him about his own powers, and that made Colin pause for a moment, staring at the sky with a certain wistfulness before turning his attention back to Rowan. ”Well I have...no powers actually, beyond typical human things. I guess you could say I have superhuman sarcasm, but that isn't really useful in beating up bad guys.” He added with a chuckle, growing more at ease around this metahuman than a few seconds ago. ”There I go, using it now.” he added with a chuckle. ”So if you don't mind my asking, why all the flashing out here?”

A burst of light [open] Empty Re: A burst of light [open]

The windy city. Marcus never saw it as that but then again, the wind never really bothered him anyway. Chicago was practically his home right now but he would gladly go back to little fox or  anywhere else, maybe london. He always had this thing for people with british accents. Anyway he was right now on a rooftop that overlooked a park. He was half sleepy when he saw a beam. "Is that?"

Yes Human, that is a beam of light.

"Seems interesting. I'm gonna check it out."

If its a giant meta. Run the fuck away.

Marcus moved to the edge of the building before creating his wings of darkness and jumping down, allowing the wings to slow his descent. landing he disbanded the wings and slowly walked until he made it to the park and about 30 meters away from two men talking. This wouldn't be a problem if they were not standing next to a somewhat melted chair and the beam of light didn't originate from this area as he saw from above. Moving closer he crouched to avoid detection and moved his mask to his face. It moved from under his face to form on top.

“It's pretty warm actually. Sometimes dangerously warm,” Rowan chuckled a bit sardonically. When Colin revealed that he was human, Rowan felt pretty jealous. In his mind, the humans had it a lot easier than him. Say Rowan was somehow trapped underground. A human could probably survive at least a few days on their own, but being cut off from all light for even a day would have disastrous effects for Rowan, possibly even fatal consequences. “Superhuman sarcasm could come in handy in a variety of situations,” He laughed and shook his head “And my powers aren't much better for crime fighting. Got my arse kicked a few weeks ago and was nearly killed,” Rowan shook his head “It's a bit complicated, but I gotta absorb light from the sun, or I get really sick. Sometimes I absorb too much, and I have to release it, causing a huge blast of weird light” He laughed.

”Perhaps in a social situation maybe, but not quite for kicking some ass.” he noted, taking a sort of psuedo fighting stance and chuckling softly to himself. The male would say something about how he got into a fight, and nearly got himself killed, which did not sound too good at all. Made him worry slightly about the metahumans health, but he found that doing it would do him no good right now, as he was just a human. ”So you're some kind of badass solar powered flashlight?” he asked with a smirk, the idea of him being a flashlight amusing within its own right. ”I mean that sounds pretty awesome, can you change the color of the light?”

The flashlight is of no harm to us. Lets go. Dark said to Marcus, hoping he would listen. Concentrated beams of light where not Dark strong suit.

Alright, alright just let me say something first. Marcus thought back to his friend. Standing out of the bush, he slowly walked until he was behind both of them. In a Demonic tone he simply said. "Quite the flash show you did there. Next time, don't be a beacon for people to follow." Marcus said from behind the two men.

“Yep, I'm a solar powered flashlight, useful in any emergency except a solar eclipse”Rowan joked with a hearty laugh. He hadn't laughed like that since Mike, and that was a slightly painful memory that he chose not to think of. When the question about changing the color of the light came up, Rowan grinned “Yeah, I can change it, though it gets hotter at each different color. I can't really go past yellow yet. So I only can produce Violet, Indigo, Blue, sometimes green, and rarely yellow light. It's weird” He explained before jumping when hearing the truly scary voice began to speak. Almost instantly horrible memories flooded into his head. “F-Flash, I didn't see any flash?” He stuttered out nervously.

Post by Dustin Waugh November 10th 2014, 12:20 pm

Oh! Chicago, Chicago your so magnificent just like New York. Rika had just come from New York finishing up buisness and some what of a party matter way and seemed bored there except being able to talk to the guy who went out of his way to provide her company for the night. In a hotel room she looked at the view and danced around over excited and not having to act formal. She did not like to be the things she's not and going to a big dressed up party sucked.

She did not like being in a room of people who had money like her but did not have the fun and kind spirit she did. Getting dressed she put on a small poofy skirt, a tank top with a blue vest. She had her boots/ heels that went up half way between her knee and ankle, a white scarf that she knited herself, wich was done professionally, she smirked and a pair of sunglasses and everything but the glasss had her own gold touch. Wich was a few buttons or her making patterns in her clothes. She danced around as she grabbed her bag, wallet, and her room key to get back in her hotel.

She twirled as she grabbed the door handle and walked out of her room closing it behind her. Out the lobby and on her stroll she would visit a small cafe and then get ice cream. Although with the ice cream she did not know when enough is enough so it was well stacked. She looked around and licked ice cream when she suddenly seen a beam of light go over her head. Looking down she seen a boy or guy holding his fist in the air or he might be reaching? She was too far to tell exactly what he was doing, but she thought she would go and make contact. She walked over and by the time she got half way two other people had already gotten there. She felt like a forth wheel and wondered if she should go over anyway. Thinking about it she continued to walk closer and got behind the scary person with the deep mysterious voice. HELLO! She blurted out a greeting. It was kinda loud, but she thought it was called for. I seen the light and it was beautiful. My names Rika whats are your's She smiled and was very enthusiastic about the way she talked as if she knew them before she waked up.

Okay, so he was dealing with some kind of scottish flashlight, a cool enough thing really if one did not equate what appeared next. It was some manner of..demon if the appearance was any indication, and is very voice sent a chill running through him as he looked to it. Without even needing to think about it,  he would take a few steps away from the thing that spoke and considered how he would get him, and the guy out of there within a matter of seconds. Honestly if he took the whole getting his ass kicked thing into consideration, he did not want to have either of them getting hurt now. Travis would likely get pissed, and he did not like to imagine if that guy got mad. He could tell this made the male nervous, and he was more than ready to basically grab onto him and run, but someone else appeared,. And drew an annoyed grunt from Colin.

”You've got to be kidding me.” The unfortunate human muttered, glancing to the woman who walked upon the scene. ”Well, it looks like i'm not the only one who found the light show interesting.” He noted, turning to the scottish male.

"Indeed." Marcus said in his demonic voice as he turned around to the female that approached them. 'By the way, sorry to interrupt your conversation but I just saw the light. Flashlight it's best that you don't show off your powers like that because as you can see here it can bring unwanted attention." He said to the man he dubbed flashlight. Turning to the human if he heard correctly. "You're either a really dumb person or just stupidly brave to walk up to a meta who just showed off such powers and initiate conversation. I like you." As he said this he turned to the young and very small looking female with the golden hair.

"I would say the same to you but I really can't but I'm guessing your just not caring about danger or you are a metahuman like flashlight over there." Marcus said to her while pointing at the meta. He was fast talking as he didn't want to be here yet he did.

Rowan was nervous. He was already bad at social interaction, and with being on edge, he was worse. Rowan turned to the girl and bit his lip “My name is Beacon” He figured he should use his codename around these people. Colin seemed nice enough, but he was unsure about the other two. He instinctively moved closer to Colin, hoping that if a fight did break out, they would be able to help one another. Something about the other's voice made him very on edge. It definitely didn't sound human. It sent chills down his spine. He was thankful that he had just charged up, so he'd be able to use his powers quickly, if it came to that. “S-So...what're you all doing here?” He asked cautiously.
