The Legacy

Personality:

Max is a generally a good mannered and friendly young man. He generally respects authority and takes his "hero work" very seriously. The only thing he is really afraid of is not being able to live up to his expectations or failing and letting someone get hurt, captured, or worse. While he respects the law, if it is manipulated, corrupted, abused, etc. He will reluctantly have to go against his state/country/town. Max doesn't like to lead, mainly because he feel like he will lead his group or team to destruction, and the guilt would be too much for him to bear. Therefore, Max will have no problem being a follower and taking orders from someone.

History:

Max was born on June 13 in Denver, Colorado. He was an A and B student in school, having made a lot of childhood friends. Living in a good neighborhood, he played football as his extracurricular activity in his school from the 4th to the 12th Grade. During this time, he had a friend named Brian, who Max had met in the 3rd grade. They had a rough start, seemingly having nothing in common, but slowly became friends through the years. They didn't hang out too much outside of school, since Max's mother was very strict about schoolwork and had plenty of house chores for him to do.

When Max was twelve years old, his father was diagnosed with metastatic sarcoma in his right leg, and had to have it amputated as a result. Due to this, he couldn't do much around the house, let alone work. Despite this, he, somehow, always had a smile on his face and looked like nothing could stop him. When Max saw his father happy, it made him happy. He worked extra hard in school and soccer, which his mother noticed, and admired. When Max brown entered the ninth grade, everything began to change. Brian was growing a bit distant from him, finding a new group of friends. His other friends from before had either moved or gone to private schools.

Max normally sat by himself, and his negative change in attitude showed in his grades. A's turned into B's and C's. Max became a bit more antisocial, sitting alone during his lunch periods and skipping many soccer practices, eventually getting cut from the team. His mother tried to talk to him, but failed, Max not speaking period. Even his father couldn't get through to him. It remained this way all the way up until about the twelfth grade. During his senior year in high school, he took a particular interest in a girl in his Robotics class. Max didn't know her well, but her beauty mesmerized him.

Before he could get to talk to her, his former friend Brian got to her first. It wasn't long before they began to date one another. Overcome with jealousy and hate, Max called him out in the hallway in front of everyone. One thing led to another, words turning into fists, sparking their newfound hatred for one another. Max began to be absent from school more often, sometimes only going two days a week. Soon, it wasn't too long before he got expelled from school because he was absent for too many days.

Max voluntarily left the house, arguing that there was nothing left for him here. He said a quick goodbye to his mother and father before packing his things and moving to New York. Three months before his 19th birthday. He worked as a janitor at a science lab and was cleaning a new found device which was essentially a heavily upgraded and more efficient solar panel, which took energy from the sun and put it as a beam. It automatically stores power when it's not being used. It was left plugged in, and Max carelessly put his water bottle on top of the machine.

He was cleaning the interior when he suddenly tripped and fell over a wire. This caused a electrical chain reaction, which turned on the machine. Just before the beam was about to shoot out, the vibration spilled the water bottle, the cap flying off and the water trickling down and got onto the plug, causing the machine to glitch out and malfunction. The beam, now slightly modified due to the malfunction, engulfed Max just before it exploded.

Max woke up in the hospital, the doctors saying he was lucky to be alive. They also made a note that while he was still injured, he was not as hurt as he should've been by the explosion. About a month and a half later, he was released from the hospital.

It didn't take long for Max to discover his newfound powers, accidentally melting a metal rail he was holding as he walked down the stairs. He had began to panic, having no one to turn to. Though, one person popped up in his mind. He took a trip back to Denver to see his father. When he got there, he found out that his mother had died from breast cancer and that his father was on medication to fight back his depression. Max was filled with guilt, regretting leaving his family behind and never visiting.

He showed his father his powers and asked what to do. His father was left in shock, taking about five minutes to figure out how to even respond to such a thing. Then, he smiled. He told his son that now he had something that could be used to change the world and help people. Max was a bit hesitant, wanting it for his own selfish desires. His father persuaded him more, saying that there were a lot of bad things in the world, and that he could fix them. Max then agreed, making his first genuine smile since his Senior year in high school.

Max's happy and determined attitude gradually returned and he became a crime fighter. About a month after his birthday, he had learned to use his powers and his father had made a costume for him. Before Max left Denver once more, his father said goodbye and to visit more often. He nodded before leaving and traveling to New York, knowing that it had been attacked and rebuilt. He decided that he should start there, beginning his superhero career.

The Powers and Weaknesses

(All characters can be as powerful as they want, as long as they are balanced with proper weaknesses.)
Powers

Solar Beams: Ever since the accident that gave him his powers, Blaze is able to shoot concussive beams of light from his hands at his opponent. Able to do a lot of damage to and even destroy many armored vehicles. The heat of these beams are intense as well, causin 2nd degree burns to the average human if they come into close proximity of the blast.

Flight: Using the solar energy contained within him and some of the energy from the Sun, can turn his own body into pure energy, making himself lighter than air. This enables him to fly in the air at will, leaving a yellow streak behind him wherever he goes at a speed up to that of sound.

Enhanced Strength: Blaze can use his own energy to "super charge" his muscles with relative ease, which makes him lift more than the average human. He can lift to about a ton and a half.

Enhanced Durability: Another one of the many qualities of Max's solar energy is that it acts as a partial shield, becoming a natural, thin, invisible, but powerful layer that surrounds his skin and internale organs. He can withstand anything up to a little less than a tank

Heat Resistance: Max was gifted with resistance to heat, able to touch a hot pan or pot and feeling almost nothing and be able to last longer in fires than normal people.

Heat Manipulation Max can send solar energy from his hands as raw heat, able to melt metals and heat up other objects as well. He can even burn others!

Weakness(es)

Night: At night, his powers are limited due to his body being mostly cut off from the Sun, relying on solely the energy in his body. His flight is turned into long jumps, his strength is reduced to average 19 year old male, his heat resistance is gone, his heat manipulation acts at a slower rate, and his concussive beams are weaker.

Water/Ice: Water and Ice can easily counteract/neutralize the effect of Max's concussive solar beams.

Heat Manipulation Max can only heat something up by physically touching it. Therefore, it may be hard for him to get close to the enemy or even get a good hold on him/her.

Flight: Since Blaze has become lighter than air in this state, he is virtually incapable of carrying anything, or it'll way him down so much that he won't be able to fly. This also means that he is less durable in this state, now vulnerable to anything more than a regular grenade.

Metals: Metals can completely and utterly neutralize any solar energy that Max puts out, so any opponent could easily use it as a shield to defend against his ranged attacks.

Gullible: Max is so concerned with helping people and not failing in his duty that he'll fall for virtually any trap or bait in order to protect the innocent and other people he cares about.
