The Looks

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

In a world full of possibilities, men and women have mistaken Maryse for a goddess or an angel who walks the earth gracing men and women with her appearance. When it comes to Maryse , beauty seems to have no limit. She has been blessed repeatedly, over and over again. Maryse has beautiful mocha-colored skin that seems to glow radiantly. That mocha skin of hers is soft to the touch and as smooth as butter. She has a lovely almost(sort of) heart shaped face that has the most delicate features; two beautiful brown almond shaped eyes that flutter like butterflies and a cute button nose. Maryse has big beautiful light pink lips that are always glossed up. Lastly, she has long silk golden brown hair that falls in curls.

Maryse doesn't have a specific style. She wears anything on her hourglass figure that drives men insane.

The Legacy

Personality: Neutral. Maryse does not consider herself a good or bad guy, and she tends not to care about it. She was raised to look after herself, and that's exactly what she is doing. Maryse is very cunning, self-absorbed and charming. She is intelligent but tends not to show it because it is a threat to her way of life. She has very little sympathy for anyone except children and animals, but even that is very rare. There are no emotions in this woman, but she is very good at acting as if she has any at all. While her appearance may fool people into think she is a woman of many moods and actions, Maryse is nothing more then a plain jane. Maryse's actions, choices and  way of presenting herself is nothing but an illusion.

History:
The Miraculous Discovery of the Bellegloire Women (1700s)
Leonardo Antoine was a infamous French scientist and explorer who decided to explore the Carribean Sea. There were rumors of cargo ships disappearing in the Caribbean and he wanted to figure out what was going on; with his own crew of men he set sail for thirty days on sea and in those thirty days he found nothing. It wasn't until his crew yearned for a woman's touch, he made a miraculous discovery. An uncharted island appeared, like magic it appeared and beckoned for the men to "research" it.  When Leonardo and his group of men began to  explore the island they stumbled upon unknown species of plants and animals and an exotic all-female tribe. He called them the Bellegloire women, Belllegloire meaning "beautiful glory" in French. It had only taken him just two days to realize that these women are special. Not only were they gorgeous, but there was something magical about them.

After a short period of time he decided to take the women back to France with him, where he would study them better and do more with them. He decided one night while the women were sleep to load them on his ship in cages which didn't go as well as he planned. He lost a lot of men in a gory battle with the tribe before he could get at least a good half of them on the ship, where he lost more men. When Leonardo would put men on guard duty, they would end up disappearing and a woman would claim she is with child. He had no explanation for what was going on, at least not until he got to France. In France, he took a lot of time to study each women and found something interesting about them. Leonardo found out that the women only have children of the same sex. He also found out that each woman had their own special ability no other Bellegloire had.

After a while of studying and testing each of the women, Leonardo began to sell the women to the richest men in Europe who felt that having a Bellegloire on your arm was a prize. Not long after these women were sold, the men who "owned" them would begin to disappear and a child would be born and because the discovery of Bellegloire women was not known by anyone except Leonardo, the Bellegloire women were never accused of having any part in the men's disappearance.

The Life of Maryse Bellegloire
Lyndia Bellegloire was a proud and very self-absorbed woman. Unlike her ancestors before her, she wasn't sold to the richest men in France. But somehow, she still managed to find one. A successful French entrepreneur named Clyde Lenoire. Clyde Lenoire was a very rich man who found Lyndia Bellegloire very attractive. They seemed to connect very fast and before you knew it, Clyde had disappeared and Lyndia was pregnant, soon giving life to a beautiful baby girl she named Maryse. Maryse was raised to think that marrying men for their money is right. She was taught that loving a man who had money was not wrong. She watched her mother buy a beautiful condo overlooking the Eiffel tower just by convincing a man that she was all the woman he needed. As a young child she was taught how to be just like her mother and didn't know it at the time. When her mother would keep switching the male doll in her little dollhouse, she didn't think nothing of it, or when her mother would have her play with a certain child one week and then have her make friends with another child another week. Maryse's mother was teaching her not to get attach to people, to never settle for one man.

When Maryse turned sixteen, her mother disappeared from her life. Whether she is dead or not completely puzzles her. At that young age, Maryse realized that she would have to look after herself. The girl left school and begun her search for support. She didn't search for very long before she found a man in his late twenties. The man had owned a good amount of land in France and didn't have to lift a finger. He made a million dollars by the hour and didn't know what to do with it. That was until he met Maryse --who lied about her age to get with him-- and spent half of it on her. The man became her first husband and everything he owned, she owned.

Sadly, their marriage didn't last for very long. The man was assassinated .

Maryse inherited most of what he owned and didn't have to follow in her mother's footsteps. But she still lust for the companionship and began dating an equal amount of wealthy good and bad guys, spending most of her time at social events and big parties.

The Powers

Mind Manipulation/Control (2 ability): Mind control is the ability to twist and turn what someone's thinking. It's a form of brainwashing that can make a person see, think and remember whatever the person who possess the power wants them to think. Maryse has control over those that are weak minded; those who fall easily and crumble under pressure. If your weakness is beauty, most likely she'll be able to control you. Though, that is not always true. Those who are not easily persuaded and build a barrier around their mind cannot be controlled.
Note: Requires permission from player before using.

Illusions ( 6 Ability): The ability to turn "reality into a fantasy." Illusion is the ability to change what someone sees, hears, abd smell. While nothing is really changed around them, it may sometimes feel like it. Almost like a magic trick, Maryse can create something that is unrealistic and make it feel realistic. The rules that apply to mind manipulation apply to illusion manipulation. too. It works especially good on those who let their emotions and feelings get the best of them.

What is a Bellegloire specifically?

Bellegloire is a group of women orginally called, Deyès nan majik manyen meaning Goddesses of magic wielding in Haitian, who were the first to come across them several centuries. It is undetermined whether they originated from witches or if witches originated from them. Bellegloire is an all women tribe, each woman with their own unique power and magical aura. Those who are born on the is added island are full-blooded Bellegloire, those who are born off the island are considered descendants.

For starters, nice history and good face claim choice.

To go on, you need to refrain from copying and pasting power descriptions.

I want to know, in your own words, what Maryse can do.

Not what the power is intending. If you cannot explain it in your own words, you do not need to have powers like this.

You have also only spent 26 points on your grid. You can spend 4 more. I advise raising your Strength, Speed, and maybe even your fighting skills.

Now, on to your powers. I notice you only have 2 for the mind control, and that is fine... but we really need to talk about what we can do about your magic and spells situation.

I suggest you throw out the magic and spells. A basic "healing" spell is not going to heal a major wound. It can only heal minor wounds; like a paper cut, maybe a cat scratch [we're talking house cat] and etc.

The shield is a no go, too. A 2 MAG/Magic shield is not going to withstand any major blows.

I advise you pool those points and create two more power listings:

IE, Healing and Defense Barrier.

Your healing could be an activated aura or healing energy that has to be focused on wounds to heal them. Knocking out magic and spells frees you up 3 points, and you still technically have the 4 you haven't spent if you don't plan on upping your physical stats. Keep in mind, however, low Durability means you have low stamina as well.

So, without magic and spells, your grid could look like this:

Intelligence: 5
Occult: -
Strength: 1
Speed: 1
Durability: 3
Ability: 2 [Mind Control]
Ability: 6 [Illusions]
Ability: 4 [Healing]
Ability: 3 [Shield]
Fighting Skills: 1
Magic: -
Spells: -
Flight: -
Wealth: 5

Now, that is without adding any points onto your physical stats... and it's still a bit lacking.

You also have 4 points thrown into wealth. I can understand your character is to be wealthy, right? But I think it'd be better if you actually did an RP and got the XP to buy the wealth so your character starts off with a balanced grid rather than being a weakling with oddly underdeveloped powers.

So, taking away points from wealth would make your grid like this:

Intelligence: 5
Occult: -
Strength: 1
Speed: 1
Durability: 3
Ability: 2 [Mind Control]
Ability: 6 [Illusions]
Ability: 5 [Healing]
Ability: 6 [Shield]
Fighting Skills: 1
Magic: -
Spells: -
Flight: -
Wealth: 1

Your Ability shield is now 6, meaning it has 6 Durability. I almost wanna advise you knock out the healing and up your physical stats just a bit, or something. I'm iffy on this. Or you can make a whole magic/spells combination and have Illusions be one of your Higher spells, seeing as it requires 6 ABI to work. It would have cool downs, and suffer some penalties. Then Mind Control could be a low spell, and you could have 2 basic spells, and a handful of other stuff. Making your magic 8, and your spells 4 saves you a lot of points to be spent on your grid.

I know this is a long reply, but I like to see characters get the best from our system.

Intelligence and Occult share the same equality up until 4 INT/OCC. At level 5 they branch off into their specified fields.

As such, you only need to pick one of the brainy stats unless you plan to spend 5 in each stat.

Go read OCC and INT stat equivalents from level 1-4 for each stat. They are relatively the same.

And I noticed you just tossed out the healing and barrier and went with physical stats. A+ idea.

If you wanted, though, we could venture down the magic and spells path if you'd like to have those two abilities.

If not, this app is almost ready for approval.

Because your occult is already 5 your intelligence already counts as 3, meaning that you don't need to state the one point in that.

Because of that you've only spent 29, so still have an extra point to spend!
