General Information

The Spider Family is a faction of mutants bolstering the powers of those whom commonly identify as "arachnids". While not necessarily a legitimate "family", seeing as though not all of them are related by kin or blood, each member nevertheless takes after a spider of some variation and thus has his or her name added to the roster.

A separate organization, referred to as the Spider Corps., was founded by Scarlet Web, considered by many to be the "original spider", in the year of 2017. The organization focuses on stopping crime in New York City, New York, in which they are based and conduct the vast majority of their operations.

Classifications

According to Akahoshi, a skilled ninja and assassin and an arch nemesis of Scarlet Web, there are three different generations of spiders. A mutant is classified based on the method in which he or she obtained their powers.

First Generation: Members of this generation acquired their abilities through a direct source, such as through being bitten by a spider or bonding with a mythical artifact.

Members: Scarlet Web

Second Generation: Members of this generation acquired their abilities through a method of DNA modification, such as through a serum or genetic advancement of some kind.

Members: Hooded Spider, Thomas Teller

Third Generation: Members of this generation have been fortunate enough to have undergone both procedures, acquiring their abilities through a combination of both the first and second generations. For this reason, they are normally the most physically profound members of their kind.

Abilities

There are a number of powers that each arachnid seemingly shares or has in common, while on the other hand, some few arachnids have shown singular abilities that appear to be signature to only them.

Spider-Sense: Named by Scarlet Web, this ability is a precognitive sense that all members of the spider family possess naturally. Appearing in the form of a "tingling" sensation in the back of their heads, it alerts them of dangers. However, it is unable to detect other members of the spider family, as seen when Scarlet Web's spider-sense was unable to register Hooded Spider and vice-versa. Scarlet Web latter confirmed this during her first encounter with Thomas Teller.

Superhuman Equilibrium: Members of the Spider Family are biological masters of balancing themselves in virtually any given position.

Wall-Crawling: Members of the Spider Family are able to stick to surfaces.

Spider Physiology: In most cases, arachnids are superhuman and as such, uphold several physical benefits beyond ordinary expectations.
