Her eyes closed and she breathed in deeply. Weight left her body for a split second as she fell through the air in the hail of ice and bullets. No one knew the summation of this event, how could they? Pillars of ice sprung up from the ground and sought out their targets to impale the falling creatures into a jagged impasse. Falling made her feel temporal and immortal in her moment of transcendence.

But then it needed to stop. She needed to come back to Earth.

Moving from her jump point on top of a fourth story fire escape, Bliss fell along a slope she created in between the pillars of ice darting from the streets. Vile creatures squirmed and died along the edges, but the cover the pillars provided the soldiers acted as Bliss's primary plan. A red bandanna covered her mouth from the fumes and smoke of spent shells and burning metal. Casualties flattened the regiment standing in defense of the city, too beaten down to move. Ice began to fill in the gaps between the pillars to create a fortification of ice to crash against the stragglers left behind to level the borough. Encapsulating her base of operations blocked out the darkening sky from the last bastion in the Bronx. "I left ramparts for your men. Good luck." Standing fifty feet tall with three separate floors and stretching out over 150 meters, Bliss build a beacon for any chance this borough could stand.

Along the exterior walls of the base Bliss left murder holes on the second and third floor to fire against the creatures, while the bottom floor stayed locked in a solid sheet of ice ten feet thick. She thought about leaving holes for the tanks to fire through, but the defense of the structure needed to stay uncompromising in the face of the assault. A central staircase ran up the middle of the building into the two upper floors. The grip of the military boots kept the soldiers from slipping along the slick floors, but did not afford the creatures outside the same mercy as Bliss's ice crept through the streets removing the friction. Barbs of ice struck out from the ice covered ground to grant her defenders all the luxuries of defense she could muster.

With the strength of the fort established she could turn to examine her forces. Young and overwhelmed, she looked for any of the men who looked battle hardened, when a man placed his hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see a man in his late thirties with a residing hair line, visible even with his military style cut. "Are you in charge here?" His eyes lighted up as his mouth formed more of a smile of relief and joy at the arrival of unlikely reinforcements.

"Yes, mam. I think I almost shot you when you were jumping down." He kept a twang in his voice to let his men know his resolve stood. "Thought you were one of them." He gave a small laugh.

"I'm glad you missed."

"So am I." He needed his men to know they could win this fight, and Bliss provided everything they needed. "I'd like to thank you for keeping my men alive; we'll give em hell." Blood stained her ice from humans and monsters alike. Bullets rang out through the compound letting her know her plan still held some ground. She hoped the bullet fire would attract any superhumans to her cause and not just the onslaught of creatures she held out against. "What do you have planned?"

"Hope we aren't defending this popsickle stand on our own." She pulled the bandanna down from over her mouth. "But mainly just hope."

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Troglodyte February 21st 2012, 10:02 am

Not even the dimmest, most reclusive hermits of new york could have failed to notice that something quite out of the ordinary was going on. Even the 'the king of the caves of the city of light' had been affected by the battles going on topside, despite his own little 'claim' of the city was out of the way and considered undesireable by most other humanoids. Gwharr had spent a few hours procrastinating about what he was going to do. He had had a few strange, superpowered tentacle-men wander into his kingdom for some reason, but he had made the process very short with them, so to speak. It was at that time our reluctant hero had to realize that the circumstances was more than merely 'unusual' something had indeed gone terribly, terribly wrong in the kingdom of man.

Even down in the deepest tunnels Gwharr could hear the sounds of battles up above. Our Rash Reluctant Ravager decided to remain in his kingdom, concentrating on keeping the baddies out of it, rather than head up and fight. After all, what had this city ever done for him? He held no allegiance to it and its citizens. In short:The Topsiders and their precious city of light had done little to endear themselves to our Lovable, Lurking Lunkhead. The boys in blue had yelled at him and shot at him, the ordinary citizens had looked at him with contempt, occasionally even laughing at him, the ladies rarely being the least bit impressed by his attempts to court them by beating his chest in a manly manner. But the worst had been the superpowered types, they had always tried to fight him when he showed up. Always interfering, always thinking they where so much better than him and trying to boss him around without ever sticking with the proper protocol. There were a few exceptions of course, but they where not enough for him to go up there. If they came down here he would defend them, but he would NOT go up there.

Or so he thought.

He suddenly heard a beeping from the pocket of his favourite coat. He quickly examined it, and by some deductive investigation he soon realized that it was his Bliss-Device. The one that Captain Wombat had given him so that Bliss could summon him to aid her if he needed him. He quickly looked at the screen of the small, handheld device and sighed. She was less than two Kilometers from his current position, seemingly in new york. Topside. whined sadly as he realized that his pledge to stay out of the affairs of New York City had just been cancled by an outside source. He may not like the city enough to help it, but he did like Bliss enough to help her, even if it meant helping people he did not like indirectly.

Our Big, Brutish, Boisterous Bruiser quickly got to his feet, rushing through the sewers like a fat gorilla intent on not missing dinner. He soon reached manhole not too far off the destination he had pinned Bliss at. He normally did not approve of manholes, since they where far too small to be Cavemanholes, but beggars cannot be choosers. He quickly leaped up through the holes, smashing up the asphalt surrounding it, and sending the manhole-cover rolling down the street like a lesser frisbee. The Ice-constructs was a pretty sure sign that Bliss was nearby and Gwharr soon scaled the walls of the fortress.

The military-men aimed their guns at him in case he would do something violent. They were hesitant about wether he was on their side or not. Some of the commanders were aware of him due to the amounts of destruction he had caused when he showed up in the city. Like a one-man wrecking-crew. However, even though they would be in their full right to engage him in combat, they already had the odds stacked against them with the whole invasion-thing going on. After all, beggars cannot be choosers. . .

It did not take our hero long to spot his friend amongst the soldiers, despite the red scarf covering the lower part of her face. He gave a slight shriek of joy as he laid eyes on her, bounding towards her like a gargantuan ape, his thick, patched-up coat and mane of thick red hair trailing behind him, making him look somewhat akin to a scruffy, giant, superpowered hobo. Without saying a world he enveloped her in a brief bear-hug, overcome with joy at seing his friend yet again.

"To be happy to see you'se. To want to help. To save day!!" The caveman said happily as he allowed the small woman's feet to once again touch the ground, releasing her from the offensive embrace.

The smell of destruction was almost palpable in the air. Theresa could feel the destruction from her position, and it was something she wasn't expecting today. Quite a surprise indeed, considering she was in the middle of a midnoon shopping spree. Mostly looking for a gift for her daughter since they seemed to be getting along swimmingly. Though that fine endeavor was thoroughly screwed over by whatever the hell was happening, and that didn't sit well with her at all. Almost like someone couldn't shop without the forces of evil slamming against the city. That was New York for you. Clutching the bag in hand, she quickly approached the register. Slamming a wad of cash down along with the bag, having already done the math in her head. An old habit of hers. Her math was of course proven right byt he cashier who gave change and wished her a good day, though was obviously ready to get the hell out of here.

Next she would have to make a rush to her apartment which was near the chaos, not a very smart move. It was only three blocks away, which wouldn't be a very long run for her. So without any time to waste, she dashed to her apartment, sidestepping numerous pedestrians. Who gave her angry glances and some harsh words, though they were ignored. Ignored as well as someone with advanced hearing could anyway. The building was in view after a few minutes, though she could feel the strain of running tugging at the back of her mind, though it could be ignored. Well for now anyway. A wave of nausea pounded through her body as she clenched her teeth, a hiss escaping them. "Not now." Theresa hissed to herself, cluthing her stomach as she was only a few feet away from the steps. After a little bile managed to slip through her teeth, she pushed through the pain and moved on. Though each step seemed to be as painful as the last. It wasn't long before she was at her door though and ready to suit up so to speak.

She dressed in her white outfit, though for some reason she insisted on it showing her stomach for some reason. Not that it was something to be ashamed of, made her seemed like a floozy kinda. Not that it mattered what people thought of her anyway. Next came the boots, as well as her specialized gloves complete with hidden blades. As well as the long curling whip and a few other weapons in her arsenal. Taking a mint she propped herself against her wall to catch her breath for a second. Caught off guard by a wave of dizziness though it didn't last for long. Theresa would have to be more careful about this in battle, or it could end with her making a mistake. Mistakes usually ended with death. She couldn't leave Andree alone with that wishy washy Ranger teaching her about life.

Complete with her preperation she made her way to the scene of the carnage. Raising an eyebrow at the sight and smell of ice. Whatever was happening here though she wasn't entirely sure of, but it seemed the military was having some trouble. This was not good at all. Though of course she found herself even more curious what would cause the boys in green so much trouble. They for some reason found it appropriate to point guns at her, though in a tense situation like this it seemed right. Raising her hands in surrender she approached the ice monolith. "Woah guys, its okay i'm here to help." She said tensing with the guns pointed at her. They though for a second before returning attention to the invasion, while her eyes darted to sight of a familar face. That caveman who found it fit to help her out before, which was great actually. Along with a friend of his whom she didn't know.

"We meet again Mister Caveman, or do you have something you would rather be called? Didn't expect you to be here." She truly didn't but it seemed any help was better than no help. In the case of this hopeless feeling raid anyway.

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Archer Roland February 21st 2012, 12:23 pm

As everything in the area seemed to explode with excitement and people ran around trying to make sure they would be able to do something to help, or simply get out of the way, Archer made his way through the crowd. It was almost like he was completely unnoticed by any of the military or the occasional civilian, which was perhaps his greatest ability; to be unnoticed. In the distance he could make out a large structure that seemed to be made of ice and if there was anywhere he needed to be he figured it would have to be over there. Picking up his pace he began to run towards his new destination.

Seeing other supers was no surprise to Archer, these types of events always seemed to draw in the heroic type, not at all a bad thing. He had done stories on more than a couple of the beings that had congregated around the area, whether they were helping people in the immediate area or simply rushing off to fight the monsters outside the walls of ice. With all of the commotion Archer just tried to keep on a steady path so he could see if there was anything he could possibly do to help someone, or just anyone. Archer had decided long ago that he would never let people he could help suffer even if that meant he would have to die, repeatedly.

Reaching the ice wall, Archer was approached by one of the soldiers who instantly took him by the shoulder and began to take him away from the wall as he spoke, “I’m sorry sir but all civilians need to go and find somewhere to hunker down until all of this calms down.” He spoke with as much authority he had but it was clear in his voice that he was terrified; no amount of bravado could mask it.

Archer understood that fear, that knowledge that anything could go wrong or that anyone could die, but all the same he yanked his arm out of the officer’s hand and looked him square in the eye. “I’m here to help people and that’s what I plan to do,” With his words said Archer again began to make his way to his destination and quickly he found himself at the foot of the structure but it seemed to be just as crazy there as it had been anywhere. Fortunately, Archer spotted someone he had met in an odd place and this was no less odd, first in Germany and then in what appeared to be a full scale invasion, but he did not question his luck, not today.

“Hey Eclipse,” he used the code name that she had given him on their first encounter, he did not want to accidently blow her cover or whatever by using her name. With no time to be wasted he made his way to the woman, knowing that she had been more of the leader on their last encounter, to see if she knew anything he could do, “Eclipse, I don’t know what’s going on but is there anything I can do to help?”

Post by Hana Saku February 21st 2012, 1:54 pm

Rascalov, Chaos's alter ego, was calmly strolling through the streets, having himself a calm think. He was reviewing the years of his life, remembering the memories of his hideous other self, the icy cold hand of guilt gripping at his heart so tightly it felt as if that hand was going to tear it out. How he wished he could be rid of the vile creature that he shared a body and mind with. He wouldn't dare risk going to his old friend Pain to help him out, since he's supposed to be dead and he would sooner maul him to death before taking the risk of helping him again.

Then, as he was thinking, the world seemed to explode with chaos and screams. Looking up and around, completely startled, he quickly made his way to a rooftop above the city as he watched, to his everlasting horror, as what appeared to be a never-ending army of his alter ego, shrieking and rampaging through the streets mindlessly destroying things and slaughtering people left and right. "Dear god, their multiplying" he whispered to himself as his skin crawled in revulsion. He took some time to calm his nerves as he retched and gagged a bit in pure disgust, trying his best to prevent himself from vomiting in sheer horror. Why was this happening to him? What did he do to plagued with shut a nightmare? Oh right, he shared his body with an impulsive, hideous, psychotic nutball of a mutant that helped create these obviously inferior and more mindless copies.

After calming himself down a bit, he took a few deep breaths and discarded his black leather trench coat, leaving himself in only a pair of black boots, black jeans and a pair of biker gloves, his muscular frame twitching. The pale-skinned, vampiric-looking raked black-clawed hand through his long, spiky snow-white hair as his lips curled back into a snarl, what appeared to be fangs poking out of his lips. As he prepared to engage, he watched as a wall of ice appeared out of nowhere and started to slow down the semingly never-ending sea of mutants, causing him to smirk as the wall helped turn the tide a bit. He then watched as a few mutants made their way through and headed really fast towards the soldiers, he launched himself off of the roof and screamed out "Predator Pounce" as he landed full force on three of the mutants, crushing them with his incredible strength, a large crater forming beneath him and his now crushed enemies. He then straightened to his full height as he expertly dodged and weaved through the mutants and started ripping through them, his rage and disgust at their very existence filling him with the adrenaline and energy he would most definitely need. After beating plenty of them down and through, he quickly made his way to the soldiers. "I'm here to help. These freaks will not make it through" he yelled out to them. They thanked him and told him to go assist the heroes by the wall of ice as they fought on with new vigor to punch through and exterminate the remaining mutants with extreme prejudice.

He made his way to the heroes, in which some of them appeared to know each other and watched as a man came over and reported to a woman who appeared to be in charge. He quickly made his way over to her and quickly saluted her. "Name's Rascalov, a relatively new hero. I have come to assist. Rest assured, these mutants will not make it past this line of defense" he said to Eclipse with a suave bow of his head as he gave her a low, sweeping bow as have her a gentlemanly smile as he prepared to fight the onslaught of weaker, less intelligent clones of his alter ego.

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Bash February 21st 2012, 2:10 pm

A dank, smelly mist hovered over the small enclosed space inside this particular building. People were huddled around one side of the room, all of them fighting to get closer and closer to the event that was transpiring at that side of the room. The people were jumping and throwing fists in the air, almost mechanically; almost instinctively. The side of the room was raised so that the crowd would not overrun the experience above with their own crazed fandom. The ground shook, at an amazing 31 times a second, and then a pause that would make the beating 32 times a second. The people fist pumped at that moment of silence. This pattern would follow through four times before something different changed the air. Music and it was sudden.

The music was fast paced. Melodic speed notes flowed from the electric in such a rate that could not be matched even through some of the superhumans that specialized in speed. The bassist was pounding on the E chord. Instead of strumming, he was slamming his thumb on the string then rolling each finger over the string. This in turn made a 6 note Rhythm in a technique called a “Gallop” The singer was screaming the words, “You can’t give up now. You clench your fists! You’re all you’re counting on!” But the gem of the band was the drummer. He was the superhuman of the band. He was bashing on the drums, becoming a hero in the music world.

Bash was his name. He was doing what he did best: Bashing on the drums! He looked out to the mosh pit. The edge of his vision was blurred black, and the faces were uniform and featureless. Whether it was his lack of care to notice them, the drugs he was strung out on, or the adrenaline rush of the music that made him unaware, he would never know; perhaps it may be a combination of all three. He dropped into a rhythmitic 16th kick bass drum, stopping on the last 16th kick only to smash the snare drum. He continued this pattern so that he could allow an easy rhythm to have the electric and the rhythm fight over talent. It was a tense battle, from the electric tap strumming, to the rhythm switching his hand position from under the neck of the guitar to over it while he played in a technique called “Slap stick.” Crescendos intensified as the pitch gradually got higher and higher. And right as the last couple notes were to be hit on the electric, ensuring victory on the battle. Bash’s vision went black. The music went silent, replacing it with the abrupt sound of screaming and sirens, and a sharp pain in Bash’s gut.

Bash went flying, a rude awakening from the time of his life. He scattered and skipped into the street. Rubble from the buildings were apparent, cars were flipped crashed and some on fire in the main highway of the city. Trash painted the floor in paper and fast food waste. The occasional citizen was running aimlessly in the same direction: To the nearest boarder of the city limits. Bash was picking himself off the floor, his head heavy, and there was an unnatural need to ITCH. It felt cold, a result of his proximity of the fortification that Bliss made nearby. He scratched the underside of his neck and picked himself up by using his other hand to push on the floor. His eyes were heavy under exhaustion. He was brutally forced from his dreams back to reality. His head pounded, amnesiac from whatever he did last night. He looked at where he felt he came from. It was an alleyway; apparently he slept there. It didn’t surprise him. Whatever he did last night he was sure that’s where he ended up sleeping. He didn’t care. So long as it feels good, he didn’t care. But now, he didn’t feel good. The hand that was scratching his neck was now reaching in his pocket; there were two things he was looking for, his drumsticks, and his corner of a Ziploc bag. Success: they were both there.

At this point Bash was completely standing. He managed to see what was it that made him scatter into the street. It was a monster, literally. The monster had overbulked muscles and a solid red pigment. It had a devious Cheshire cat smile. It was already running back at Bash, who was still trying to wake up. If anything could wake someone up, it was a superpowered punch to the face that sent him flying fight into the ice wall that held the fortress together. He bounced off. This ice was thicker, denser, and simply harder than natural ice. He flying into it simply would not cut it. Bash rolled down and to his knees, a hand on his face and one on the ground. He was angered at this point. What did this guy have with him? Did he owe him money or something? Either way he was not going to be disrespected like that. He picked himself up once again and this time his was ready to fight. The monster came at him again, again in the same brutish pattern of punching him in the face. Bash raised an arm to block the arm at the inside of the elbow; Stopping the fist inches from connecting again. Bash was ready to counter. Using his open hand he punched it in the gut, sending it away from him in a high arc. Bash then added in a combination to ensure maximum damage. He yelled. But with it was a shockwave that sent the guy flying down the street at such a rate that made the punch at bash seem like a brofistpump. Trash cleaned itself up and cars bowled down the street. He unintentionally made a makeshift barricade at the intersection of the next block. The Drummer held his head, he needed a fix. His head was pounding. And the loud shockwave only added salt to the wound. His hand reached into his pocket, reaching for that Ziploc bag. He looked around hoping that no one was around or cared enough for him to consume it right there.

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Swordsmaster February 21st 2012, 5:18 pm

In the dark of night by themselves is where the lonely walk and that was were Project Death found himself for the past few weeks sense his failure to capture Dr. Everyone. Astrid had not been sent to heal him of his minor burns and bruises so they had healed normally, Doctor Necrodium had not brought him back to the ship, nothing of the ordinary seemed to have happened that day. He had realized his ‘family’ had cast him out and was not planning on taking back what they had created. Death knew he had been replaced by Ibis, the one whom should be coming for him, he just did not know when the monstrous beast would come to take his prey. What he did know though (or so he thought), in his messed up, screwed with, unnatural brain, was that if he could defeat Ibis when the beast came to ‘dispatch’ him his ‘family’ would once again accept him.

The bullets, explosions, and crash-landings are what first cued The Hero Killer into the fact that something was not quite right in whatever place he had wandered off to. A quick look around and he noticed a sign telling him were exactly he was, that alone gave him an idea of what was transpiring that the ‘New York Assault’ had began. He did not know much about the actual assault as he was only supposed to punch things and not ask questions, something he did very well, but he did know that Ibis (and him had he not failed) were to be attacking The Bronx. Oddly enough that is were Project Death found himself now residing and at that point he knew what he had to do, he had to find Ibis and essentially get what was coming for him.

Project Death took off at full speed towards the action and noise, as he noticed the Chaos clones he assumed he would be left alone for he was part of the ‘family’ as were they even if he knew he was an outcast now. Yet, of course that did not happen, nothing ever happens the way the Destroyer would like it to. As soon as he ran past the first clone a tentacle lashed out at him, only to be grabbed, and thrown out at full strength at the other four surrounding him. The Hero Killer, still having no emotions, did not care who was taken down in his path if you were fighting him from getting where he wanted to go you would be taken down it was as simple as that. The five clones got up only to be quickly dispatched and beaten down to limp lifeless forms they should be in matter of minutes, leaving Death to continue his trek to where ever Ibis is. Going not even a hundred yards the skeletal brute ran head first into a giant ice structure and only cracked it a little bit as he stumbled backwards some.

With a grunt Project Death looked up at his surroundings, cloak still on, only to notice that there were guns trained on him belonging to human solders. He could also see what he believed to be Meta humans walking into the ice dome thing. Ignoring the solders and their petty weapons, for they could do him no harm, and he walked straight into the ice doom expecting to walk out the back and continue his ‘expedition’ of sorts. He believed he could do this because he saw no other way around the dome and going through it and out the back door, if there was one, seemed the only logical way to keep going. Yet, as soon as he walked in Death saw someone he believed he would never see again except for under the Good Doctor’s control. The failed escapee Bliss was not on Necrodium’s ship and seemed to be leading the ‘rebellion’ against Project Perfection’s creations which interested him. Walking up to her he took of his hood, rest of the cloak still on, and spoke in his dark, vile, stone cold, and unused voice. “Bliss Fokukama, you will take me out of this ice dome and to Ibis and then you shall leave to continue your petty revolt that in the end will ultimately fail.” The sentence spoken was probably the longest sentence the brute of a skeleton man had ever spoken but it was one he intended for her to listen to, the only reason he spoke it really was because he could not see how to get around the ice dome.

Jason and Lilian were at the mall looking for new cloths to wear. "Come on, it's not that bad.", Lilian said as she hold a black t-shirt with a big pink heart in the middle. "No, I refuse to even be 5 ft of it., Jason said disobediently. Lilian just sighs, "Fine, we already wasted five minutes in this argument." Lilian pouted, "Okay, so what about this one?", Lilian ask as she hold up a black t-shirt with a spiked shield in the middle. "Hmm, well that's alot better.", Jason said as he examined the shirt, Okay, I'll wear it.", Jason said. Lilian made a happy sound as she purchase the shirt from the cashier, "Your gonna look great in this.", Lilian said as she got back to him. "Yeah, yeah, yeah.", Jason just said but his danger sense just alerted something is happening big outside of the mall, "What the Hell?", Jason said as he got out of the mall to see what is happening. "Oh my God.", Lilian said as she watched an army of mutants marched down the streets while also slaughtering people as they went. "Lilian, leave, now.", Jason said agressively as his exo-skeleton appears. "B-but this is big! Let someone-!", Lilian said as she was cut short by Jason. "Go now!!! My danger sense is going haywire!", Jason said as his armor protrudes spikes around him with a 'demonic mouth' appearing on his face-plate as he also remembers the incident with the robbers at the grocery store back home. This scared Lilian so much that she ran back inside and alerted security about the event outside which evacuated the mall from the back doors.

With Lilian out of harms way, Jason let his danger sense full control of his mind and body and began to lash out towards the mutants as he bashed, smashed and slashed through them as if they are his natural enemies as if he was an animal. He would began aiming for their head and limbs due to the bloodlust he is experiencing from his danger sense. He continue going through them in a straight path until he reached an area with ice on the ground and saw some familiar faces in front of some kind of ice dome. "Hey! Don't I freaking know you!?", Jason asked agressively to the group of meta-humans as he walked towards them. Guns are pointed at him and began to open fire on him, but only deflects off of his armor and is annoying. As he reached the group, he simply passed them and went straight for a soldier that is still firing at him, even though it is useless. Jason walked up to the soldier and took his gun, "Stop that.", Jason said as he crushed the gun in his hands and turn it into a metal ball, "I'm on your damn team.", Jason said to the soldier as he turn back to the group of meta-humans, "Now which one of you guys can tell me, what the Hell is going on?", Jason demanded.

What is going on!? A.I. thought to himself. Surely an assault this great would be recorded, yet this did not happen in the history that I know... He ran through the streets, fighting off tentacled monsters on his way to the ice fortress he had seen on the news. Hopefully one of the members from his new team would be there. He had received orders from Phoenix to defend and evacuate, and Gabriel knew he would be in need of assistance. He broke into a sprint, seeing as there were no threats in the vicinity.

When A.I. arrived at the ice fort that had been erected, a group of soldiers immediately tried to evacuate him. "I am not a civilian, I am an ally." he said to them calmly, and walked past. He glanced around until he spotted a large group of superhumans. He walked swiftly over to them, and looked for a familiar face. The armored man from the park, Retaliate, had just arrived. "Retaliate. Stick with me. Orders from Phoenix are to help defend and evacuate civilians." he said to him before looking for the person in charge to answer his teammate's question as to what the hell was happening.

Post by Corra February 21st 2012, 9:50 pm

"MOOOOMMMMMYYYYYYY"

Sweet suculant screams, ecstasy to the ears of the murdering zombie who couldn't help but grin sadistically as her dagger slipped from the gushing ribcage of her latest victim. The woman toppled to the crimson soaked tile, desperately reaching her hand out to the grasping fingers of a 3 year old girl with blonde pigtails doused in her mother's blood. "M-mad-ison..." she weezed as her arm dropped in a splash of crimson.
The toddler cried violently over her, screeching in blind ignorance of the murderous elf standing above her like an eerie shadow with teeth gleaming in the stagnant darkness like a Chester cat.

"Mommy? Mommy?!" She shook the limp body in front of her, her tiny fingers curled into fists as she pushed with all her strength in hopes of a response, but she would forever have the image of her mother's lifeless eyes staring up at her a frown of worry on her tired face. A tear slid down the corpse's cheek, the last indication of life before it slipped away to mingle with the ocean of red beneath her. Madison screamed again but it was quickly joined in unison by Corra's hysterical cackle.

"M-m-mommy? AhahahaAHAHAHA" The villainous mocked as the toddler looked up at her from the floor with large blue eyes, cheeks stained in blood and tears and mouth curved in an eternal pout. Then, suddenly, her mother's murderer picked her up by the hair and dragged her to the open front doors of the house, laughing as she screamed and rocked back and forth, holding her head from the agony. The light of the day was deceptively gorgeous as it poured in from the outside and shined down on both her face and the bare outline of the killer, but even at 3 she was not fooled by the beauty, Madison knew her life was in danger and that pain was coming...just like it came for her mom.

Only she could not seem to keep herself from saying what she knew would offer no pleasant response, "Mommy! I want my Mommy!" her tiny voice cried our as her hands left her head and reached out for the mother she had a sinking feeling would not respond. Even at that age a child could sense the horror of a moment...

"Mommy's gone sweetheart but don't worry! I'll take you to her!" Corra laughed viciously and forced her down the stoop and then the three steep steps leading to the dirty streets of the Bronx.

The purple haired monstrosity that pulled on the wriggling child was easier to see once in the full daylight and only caused Madison to cry more upon realizing her capture's true appearance. Corra was surprisingly beautiful in a dismal sort of way, with sinewy grey flesh, purple locks, long pointed ears sporting an amethyst tiara around her forehead, and lavender eyes that burned with rage despite the content smile plastered on her black lips. Her body was slender and toned with a black leather dress shaped tightly over her abdomen with the entire front-middle section opened at the front with nothing but strings crisscrossed over each other and half the bottom of her perky chest showing. The costume cut off with a gold belt shaped in a dipping fashion like her tiara and a bottom like a bathing suit with the back end of it flaring out wide to form a train. What appeared the most noticeable to the terrified toddler, however, was not her beauty, but two skinny vulture wings protruding from her bare back and curled tightly against her body as she strutted down the trash littered asphalt.

After a moment they were greeted by a hoard of horrible mutant creatures, their disfigured and disgusting bodies wiggling as if uncomfortable with their tentacles and slimy tongues that slithered through the air like venomous snakes ready to strike. Her thoughts were probably not too far off as Corra approached the marauding group of monsters with her still in tow, and just like that Madison got that sinking feeling again in that tiny heart of her's, the one that told her the end of her life was approaching. The only thing she could do now was cry pathetically in the merciless grasp of Death's Apprentice.

"Who wants an appetizer before the real fun begins!!" Corra yelled, her body swaying slightly as though she was intoxicated, and lifted the toddler off the ground effortlessly. She hung in the air by her hair, dangling like a hanged man and balling helplessly off the palm of the zombie woman.

The hoard wasn't really Corra's to control or order around, after all she was with the Harbingers, but being a new recruit to the group she hadn't gotten used to working with others, and thus she found it more entertaining to do her own thing in the raid, while letting the others deal with the stupid heroes that got in the way. In this particular case with the child, she was simply bored and it seemed amusing to watch the mutants fight over human meat.

With that thought she laughed as the mass of monsters screeched and at the expense of one final gut wrenching scream she tossed the toddler into the mob and watched in joyous ecstasy as they tore her limb from limb, blood spraying like a fountain of crimson. Her mouth turned upwards with sadistic pleasure as though she was simply watching a good horror film and not the real thing, but it didn't last long before the child was nothing but a lump of festering pink flesh and once more she was bored."Hm...what next..." She thought to herself out loud, turning her back on the mutants to get a good look at the assault ahead.

Corra was still on the very outskirts of the Bronx, where the assault had already moved up and the shooting was minimal to none. Most of the houses had already been evacuated in that area, long since aware of the impending apocalyptic events. The family she had just done away with were trying to hide in their attic and had nearly gotten away with it but she had found them trying to quietly get down from the ladder and took them by surprise. Oh what exciting screams they released, like a euphoria to her senses, especially when her blade dug deep into the heart of that woman and her eyes turned wide and lifeless with pain, an orgasm couldn't have topped how good that felt.

The despicable woman chortled coyly at the flashback and rubbed her boot into the blood splattered asphalt, "Hope you enjoyed your meal you should go and assist your comrades...whatever the hell you things are." Corra yelled back over her shoulder and began to casually walk towards the ambush. There seemed to be an icy fort that may need her attention, but really she was just awaiting one of the Harbinger to find her and angrily tell her she should have been doing something else...she got a kick out of it whenever she disobeyed orders and was caught, it was like a twisted game to her.

There were few people with strings of bad luck could compare to those that Clayton experienced. This day was just one more in the tangled mess that was his life. Never one to turn down a vague possible promise of money, especially money from a pretty face, he found himself in New York City. The military issued an order to all civilians to stay inside, but thanks to a forged press pass, he was able to secure military transport into the heart of the Bronx in order to meet a woman he met during his short stay in Japan. Whatever she called him into the war zone for, he was beginning to think it really was not worth the trouble.

Seemingly from nowhere and true to Necrodium's warning, a group of horrid mutations sprang onto the nearly empty city streets. Clayton was sure he recognized the creatures from somewhere; television, maybe. He had no time to try to remember and nor did he care to. The element of surprise was enough to give the mutant clones the edge on the soldiers and the thief. They swarmed the vehicle rather quickly while the soldiers fired with futility. With Clayton's aide the Army managed to mow down a few of the clones but it was too late. The creatures surrounded the truck and had it flipped in an instant.

The next thing he knew, he was regaining consciousness in the middle of the street. He had either been thrown or dragged just over a block from the burning wreckage of the truck and the bloodied, savagely mutilated corpses of his military escorts. “No reward is worth this.” he muttered to himself as he rose to his feet, lucky enough not to be among the dead. Warm blood ran from a gash in his head down the side of his cheek and he wiped it with his sleeve. He could see a large ice structure ahead in the distance. There was only one person he knew of capable of creating such a thing, and she was just the woman Clayton wanted to see. He was determined to tell Bliss off. Clearly, she must have had some terrible vendetta against him to bring him into such a situation. He spotted his pistol a few feet from the burning truck, and quickly retrieved it. The heaviness of the weapon in his hand helped to alleviate the fear that the mangled corpses he tried not to look at put into him.

Once at the Ice Queen's palace party, our hero found himself halted by a soldier standing guard near the entrance. “Woah, man! What happened to you, man?” the guard craned his neck for a better look at him.

“Cut myself shaving.”

“You shave your forehead, man?” the grunt looked genuinely puzzled at Clay's answer.

“Sure. Whatever.” He did not have time for banter. ”Is the Japanese chick that put this thing up still around here?”

“Yeah, man. She's inside but I'm supposed to...”

The man seemed like he had more to say. Clayton ignored it completely and marched into the structure; the guard didn't argue.

He spotted Bliss right away; surrounded by an entourage of unusual characters, she was the most normal looking one, and clearly she thought she was in charge. “Outta the way, Skeletor.” He pushed past one of the unique looking individuals among Bliss's audience until he stood directly in front of her. He was full of frustration over his current situation, but still managed to keep his tone calm, yet loud enough to hopefully give it precedence over whatever the rest were saying, “Bliss, your worshipfulness, could you please explain exactly what the hell you were thinking when you called me down here? ”

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Bliss February 22nd 2012, 2:09 am

Gun fire rang through the fortifications while Bliss remained with her hands on the icy surface. Her powers pushed ice not only to strengthen what she created, but to claim the borough. Spikes shot out of the walls impaling the blasted creatures as they attempted to scale her bastion. From each jagged spike came dozens of barbs that shot into the street, skewering a few of the creatures under the force. When the barbs fired out they began to solidify into solid walls. Slowly her power pressed an offensive against the creatures. The best offense she could levy against these creatures came from her defense.

As she sent her forces darting out she heard signal calls from the soldiers she saved informing her of where to stop pressing to avoid injuring civilians or military. Not only did she claim the borough back, but she created a growing sanctuary for all seeking shelter. With every block she claimed they found another squad of soldiers helped stranded civilians rush into the center of the base.

Her only reprieve from her duty came when her oversized companion insisted on grabbing her and lifting her off of her feet. "Good to see you too, buddy." Bliss said with half of the air escaping from her lungs. "I got a job for you Gwharr. And it isn't easy." As she landed back on her feet she noticed Archer came into view. "I need you and Archer to seek out a creature in New York. He's big. Big and on fire. When you find that guy..." Walking into the structure as cold and silent and the death he took his name from, the fallen project spoke of the impending doom they fought against. "Not that it matters, but his name is Ibis. And I guess this guy is coming with you." They could share words later. Right now seeing this guy out here would do her a lot of good. "Gwharr you know the way out of here, take Archer and..."

A man wearing clothes from Urban Outfitters but telling people he got them in a thrift store, walked past Death after referring to him as Skeletor. "Take Archer and Skeletor and find Ibis." She turned to see Clayton along with a number of faces she did not readily know. Shadows fell over the a white haired man who seemed to posses experience with a new comer with some strength for himself. "Hold on Clay."

She pushed beside him to get closer to A.I. and Retaliate. "The plan you guys have is perfect. I'll keep expanding this fortress so my ice will be with you and give you a place to hide anyone you save. It's too dangerous to try and get everyone out of the city now. We'll need to bunker them in here and I'll freeze walls in the subways so we can hide them from danger down there." These two acted as though they didn't really need orders, but right now everyone could use help.

Bliss pulled a revolver she tucked away in the back of her pants. "Some cowgirl gave this to me for you. She said you probably weren't smart enough to remember who she was, but said I was wearing lesbian boots and went on about how I was a Holocaust denier because I had no idea there was actually a second Holocaust, but after she used a third dimension of existence to prove her point I stopped listening." He handed Clay the perfectly crafted gun. "It has a note on it as well." Written in pen with a fine style the note read Clay, try not to imagine this as a penis too much or you'll never live to make a guy the happiest man on Earth

Bliss pointed to the shadowy woman standing behind him. "I have one last thing to say. I need you and her to go out into the borough and find any major enemies. Anyone who could be controlling this invasion needs to be stopped. I asked Ace to come, so you should run into him at some point while you're out there; if he comes here I'll tell him to seek you out."

While granting instructions to the forces she gathered Bliss continued pouring ice into the barricade to grow it out across the streets and buildings. Temperatures within the dome would require warm clothing for anyone wanting to function properly, but as the dome grew the temperature began to rise a little. The frozen fortress needed to continue on its path to cover the borough regardless of the amount of property damage that ensued. Now she just needed the last of her group to show up so she could carry out the most important part of her mission.

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Ember_Fangs February 22nd 2012, 4:57 pm

Aurora wasn't sure why she was making her way to the Bronx with a giant sabre tooth tiger apart from the fact the Earth had told her to. It was a very sad day, the dryad noted as she carefully moved past a few idiotic civilians who had decided it would be a great idea to stay and film the events of the day. Journalists. Leo growled at them as they walked past and they smartly drained of all colour and retreated a few steps. Aurora paused and closed her eyes, standing on the edge of the throng of other Superheroes who had begun to gather there. The Earth's anguish rolled through her in a large waves and made her lean against the tiger for support. She wanted to know what was wrong and she called out to her sisters but all she got was silence. A terrifying silence. The Earth was never quiet, it was a living thing and it always made a sound - even if it wasn't kind words, someone had always answered her. Before today. She had gathered from Bones and Archie that Ibis was the main reason behind her stomach pains but she didn't want to admit it. The large Earth giant had been the closest thing to a big brother Aurora had known - he hadn't left her side when he had been apart of the Abnormal. He had protected her, talked with her and they had learned with one another to become slightly more 'human' so as to blend in - not that they were ever ashamed of who and what they were. If it was true what Bones and Archie had said Aurora wasn't sure what she would do. To strike Ibis down would be like killing her own. And he was strong. He was not somebody you wanted as an enemy.

Leo's lips curled back from his teeth and a low grumble rumbled in the back of his throat, large muscles bulging under his thick Arctic coat. Aurora's eyes opened in time to yank on the large cats scruff with surprising strength and hold him in place before he leapt at the man approaching.
"We're here to help, don't mind Leo," she waved a hand dismissively at the tiger who was eyeing up the trembling human with a hungry stare. The man nodded then pointed towards the large ice structure which was giving her a headache. The ice seeped deep into the Earth and it was like a chill to the heart.

"T-t-they're all in there," he coughed and banged his chest, trying to hide the initial stammer caused by fear. Aurora gently patted him on the shoulder with a slim brown hand and a warm smile before setting off towards the ice construction. She didn't get much hassle on the way there, Leo seemed to take control of that. It was Aurora who stopped their onward march when she ducked inside the ice fortress and saw Bliss. Memories rushed back at her. A Minotaur, a flying carriage, something about a dead pope...
"Bliss!" She exclaimed rather happily. The woman was nuts but was least she wouldn't face any prejudice from a woman she had fought beside before. Leo had to duck to get inside but once he had settled in he carefully moved his large tiger eyes from one to the other then yawned to reveal rather plainly the rows of teeth. Bliss was definitely someone Aurora got along with.
"It's nice to see you again."

The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments) Empty Re: The Palisade (Defenders of Bronx post here for your assignments)

Post by Troglodyte February 23rd 2012, 1:06 pm

Gwharr's ears perked slightly as she mentioned that she had a job for him, fighting some big, burning fellow named Ibis! Oh, calloo callay, capfraptous day! This would be an exciting adventure indeed, after all, it had all of the ingredients that made an excellent adventure. Him and Bliss fighting against some type a villain or other. Gwharr's bestial, hairy face quickly turned into a big grin, revealing a set of dangerously sharp, pearly white teeth that looked far too clean and well-aranged to belong in the mouth of a shaggy, grubby, hunched-over caveman that looked mostly like some sort of mutated ape-man. The caveman nodded eagerly, clenching his melonsized fists and beat his chest as if to show his eagerness to engage in this mission.

However, what Bliss said next caused the soaring spirit to plunge back onto the earth in a manner similarly to a brick would do if it somehow found itself suddenly summoned into existance sixty feet in the air. Take Archer with him? "Take Archer with you" not "Archer will come with us" or "Archer will be an asset to our awesome cause this one time" Gwharr may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer. In fact he was probably so dull that butterknives would probably scoff at him. Heck, he would probably be mistaken for a spoon or something. But still, despite the Thoughtless, Thickheaded Thug's meager reasoning-power aside he still realized that Bliss was sending him away from his side. What had he done to deserve this? Why didn't she want to be in his pack anymore?

"To not come with me?" The caveman asked with his inhumanly, beastial voice suddenly filled with meekness and confusion instead of its usual fury and enthusiasm.

Still, if she wanted him gone, he would not linger. He would not show weakness amongst all of the metahumans that had gathered here. They would not see him dejected. He would not let them see him trotting off like a dog with his tail between his legs, but rather they will see a mighty warrior taking off to take down a quarry so mighty they cannot imagine it. He already felt the lump of sorrow in his gut disolve and turn into anger. "To hunt Ibis. Hunt-hunt! Fight-Kill!" The caveman grunted in response, before taking off, leaving bliss and the other meta-humans behind. He would not return untill he had faced this Ibis-fellow and given him his best punches!

Theresa ignored the fact the caveman didn't respond to her. Though her lips curled into a sneer as she crossed her arms across her chest and waited for any sort of order. More arriving to the scene including one face she remembered all too well. Infact she promised to stab him in the throat the next time he appeared infront of her. Which meant she would have to kill the man where he stood. A blade slid out fo the wrist container, gleaming in a dim light cast from the distance. Though something kept her from trying to kill him. Though what it was exactly she didn't know, or care to. With a free hand she pulled the hood over her head back, revealing a cascade of brown locks. Eyes narrowing like thos eof a jungle cats at Clayton.

"We meet again. Its been a long time since you cut me open, but by gones are by gones are right?" She allowed the blade to slip back into its proper place. With a boot tap against the ice, she looked away as people branched off to work. Not sure why she would be stuck with the man who had almost killed her once during her time under Elena. Though she found now reason to complain about having this burden,w hens he could find a way to kill him after this mission. He would be dead soon enough.

"Very well miss, I will work with this man." She shrugged, feeling over the whip at her side for a brief second, before her eyes darted over to Clayton untrusting. Baring sharp incisors before turning off in her own direction where she assumed the greatest threat would be. Though of course that wasn't a given int he situation, when she didn't know who was a threat now. Especially when she was stuck with this man.
