What Is One Life?

Small towns boasted smaller police forces and smaller chances for metahuman intervention. Serious criminals who wanted real money might have engaged in more lucrative activities like smuggling, but every now and then some costumed crackpots decide to get in their head to rob jewelry stores...

The jewelry store in question was a small time store in a strip mall. Still, they held at least a few million in precious jewelries. A fit, middle aged bald man in a white... baseball uniform reinforced with body armor, swinging around a bat, smashed in all the jewelry displays while speaking in a bombastic voice.

"BEHOLD! Chronos, master of time, has returned! He demands your tribute! BEHOLD, I have summoned the most FEROCIOUS fighting force of ANTIQUITY! The Roman Legion to do my BIDDING!"

Seven roman legionaries and their centurion marched into the store, moving in tactical formation and wielding modern assault rifles. Said Roman legionaries wore ski masks even under their period accurate helmets, and spoke in strong midwestern american english. While their deranged leader monologued, bags were thrown towards the blazer-wearing cashiers to be filled with loot. Their Centurion, marked by his helmet plumage, provided clear and concise instruction.

"Alright hands in the air, nobody move. We'll shoot anyone who tries to be a hero!" He threatened, commanding his cantebarum with ruthless efficiency. The bags were filled, and no one tried anything.

"100 seconds, my legionaries! The power of Chronos can afford you no more time!" He shouted, counting down their robbery by every tick of the second arm. The robbers moved quickly and were already heading towards their getaway vans, two of them, with filled bags.

The robbery in progress was quick and efficient, the first by-stander to cam-cord and livefeed it having opened his phone as the villains were already leaving. The bystander made all the hashtags, including the street where the robbery occurred, and where they were headed.

But this video was enough. Holding her own mobile device, Anndroid watched as the vans were pulling out of the strip mall. "Two blocks away. I can catch up." And by catch up, Anndroid broke into a sprint. Today, she would see if she had what it took to be at least, a street hero.
