Bodhivatta - The Electric Wizard Empty Bodhivatta - The Electric Wizard

Post by The_soapmaker January 16th 2011, 4:33 pm

Real Name: Bodhivatta (Yeah, just Bodhivatta)
Superduperüber Renegade Name: The Electric Wizard
Title: Bum / Superhobo
Alignment: Renegade
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Race: Human - Indian
Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 90 lbs

Costume: Bodhi always very simple clothes; a greyish buttoned shirt, greyish pants, simple espadrilles (cotton shoes). Maybe a thick dark green nylon coat when it's cold. But that's it.

Personality: Bodhivatta is a very wise person, both philosophical and streetwise, and always willing to give some (good) advice. He tends to go his own way, not minding other peoples opinions. If he really wants something, he will most likely do anything in his power to get it. If other people want stuff he doesn't, he tends to 'disappear' for a while and return when it's all settled (which effectively could be never). He's pretty unreliable, since he might say one thing and do another. But if you treat him good, he will be more likely to follow and obey.
He is also a very spiritual man and lives in poverty because of his own free will. He regards earthly, material possessions as irrelevant and declares that he has no need whatsoever for wealth and riches. Only food and shelter are what he needs. And occasionally a bath and a couple of new clothes.

History:
Bodhivatta originates from a small beach town in the south of the state of Goa, India. He had a pretty radical childhood, growing up between all sorts of strange white people (quite a few Hippies had remained in his village in the 70's) and their strange behaviours and ideas. He didn't go to school; his family was too poor. Instead, he had to work with his father on the fields. Not that it really bothered him. His father was a very kind and talkative man, so it was never boring on the field.

Powers:
-Radical Portals: Bodhivatta is able to collapse small portions of space-time, causing a wormhole which allows him to travel large distances in short amounts of time. If you ever played the game Portal, you kinda know how it works. He can jump through these portals, ending up somewhere else, a place he can visualise (which might turn out to be the wrong place if he gets confused, but most of the time he's pretty accurate). He could also kick someone into a portal. But he's a 5 foot Indian homeless person. I doubt he can kick anybody on this site through a wormhole. No, he can't rip holes back into time, though that would theoretically be plausible. But it would be very lame.
Bodhi is also able to create reflector shields made out of a wormhole. Those reflector shields are in fact reversed wormholes...or some other shit. I don't know. I'm not a physicist. Damn, dude!
The portals take about 2 seconds to fully open, but are already functioning from the first centimeter.

-Motherbitching Lightning: Bodhi can fire lightning. But not just lightning. Motherbitching Lightning. What's the difference, you might ask. Well, frankly, there is none. Except for the fact that Motherbitching Lightning is always cast by living creatures. Or undead. That is also possible.
Anyway, Bodhi is able to cast whips of plasmic lightning over 30 feet, strong enough to kill a full grown man (a normal one) with one blow. Thankfully, it's not truly lightning, just a bunch of electric plasma whips. Goes many times slower, but it will still fuck you up for sure. Plus, he can fire that stuff from almost every corner of his body. It's what makes his hair so static.
That same power grants him the power of flight by creating powerfull and complex electromagnetic fields around him. He mostly flies in meditating position. Bloody Hippie.

-Awesome music skills; Bodhi can play many an instrument. In fact, he can play every instrument prior to 1980. Does not really qualify as a superpower, but I still think it's amazing.

I'll go ahead and say for the record, I like this character.

The only thing preventing me from saying this is definitely approved, is his teleportation power. I'll have to get a second opinion from an admin, you may be asked to include a start-up time or maximum range or something to that effect.

Personally, my vote is for approved. I'm assuming that portals do take a few seconds to create?

Does anyone smell... SOAP! Holy clean balls of justice, man! Where ya been?

@Metis: I agree that it needs to be specified, but he has a 6 in EP. I dont image the portals would take TOO long. If he had just said it was straight teleportation, he wouldn't need to wait a few seconds, would he? But in any case, more detail would be nice. Smile

Thank you, thank you, you're a wonderful audience!

Most certainly the portals take some time to open; he's got to swing his arms around, which takes about a second, the portal itself has to expand in reality, which also takes about a second, and last but not least Superbum has to jump into the wormhole, which probably takes some time too.

Next to that is Bodhi incapable of just randomly teleporting anywhere. He's got to picture the other side of the wormhole in his mind, which anyone can imagine is pretty hard when bullets and lasers and atomic blasts are flying round your head.

But I'll edit that it takes 2-3 second for Superbum to get away.
