The Looks

Lean and supple build. Humanoid shape. Covered head to toe in a bright red exoskeleton resembling that of a crab, though softer and more flexible. Two dark red pincers behind her upper lip point downwards, resembling an overbite. She also has a long, pointed tongue. Dark red antennae start from the point on her face where a nose would be and extend upwards, curving behind her head like hair. She has two expressive, bright yellow eyes and a wide mouth. On her shoulders, elbows, wrists, and knees are softer slits in the exoskeleton which can open and close like vents. Her fingers are thin, long and flexible. She usually sports a dark green hoodie, grey sweatpants, dark grey gloves and sneakers. She promises she didn’t steal them.

The Legacy

Personality: Very brash and cocky, and doesn’t mind stirring up trouble every now and again. Exudes a casual air of authority when things go her way, but if something doesn’t work according to plan, she can get quite snappish and flustered. Enjoys making people happy, though she’d never admit it. Too corny for her taste. Although she’s not very bulky, her confidence often passively flips a fight in her favor. She’s perceptive to the attitudes that surround her and will take cues to heart. This can work for or against her depending on the influence she’s surrounded by.

History: Lizzy’s led an interesting life. Though with her perspective, she’d be the last to tell you that. Living, eating, sleeping, and socializing all within the confines of a top-secret biology lab gets pretty boring after a while. Even with a swarm of mind-controlled insects to keep you company. Or a pair of wings. Or an exoskeleton that makes you look like something that crawled out from under a hundred-year-old couch.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like the staff. The scientists were the closest things she ever had to friends or family. She couldn’t bring herself to hate them, even with all their secrets and emotional distance. But those things certainly didn’t help quell her growing rebellious nature as she matured into her teen years.
Itching for some freedom, she began sneaking out to make nightly rounds around the city of Philadelphia, delivering some easy justice along the way. An attempted mugging gets cut short, a back-alley rapist gets a fist to the face, a little old lady gets her purse back. Things that warrant a nice ego-stroking without attracting too much attention. And, okay, let’s be honest--punching people in their face brings a smile to hers.
It may not be as high-profile as what the big league superheroes are up to, but Lizzy wouldn’t have it any other way. The luxuries of the lab, the thrill of some night-life superhero antics--what could be better?
The most Lizzy knows about her origins is that she was created from a mix of human and insect DNA. Having spent her whole life under the care of the scientists responsible, she was always discouraged from asking more, and conditioned to think nothing of it. But her curiosity is starting to become piqued.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Power 1: Small wings. Lizzie sports a pair of thin, short wings capable of softening a landing from a great height. Although they can’t make her fly or even glide effectively, combined with the shock absorption of her exoskeleton, they’re very useful when jumping off of tall buildings or freerunning around Philly. They can also be used to swat or surprise criminals that think they can sneak up behind her.

Power 2: Insect swarm. This power is Lizzy’s bread and butter. Lizzy was created with the DNA of an unusual insect resembling both ants and bees. Her body regularly produces unfertilized eggs underneath her skin that host males of that species. They hatch equipped with wicked stingers and pincers capable of bringing a common criminal to their knees in a swarm. To attack, Lizzy will shoot them at an opponent out of openings in her joints, where they will overwhelm the baddie with stings . But like bees, the lack of their stingers means they will die within minutes. It takes her body about 24 hours to regenerate all the drones used in a fight, so she uses this power sparingly. It’s more fun to punch, anyway.

Power 3: Exoskeleton. Although it’s not as strong as that of a true invertebre, Lizzy’s exoskeleton can partially absorb the shock from blows during fistfights and keeps her completely safe from minor cuts. It is, however, useless against heat-based or chemical weapons.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: Inability to speak. Lizzy’s insect DNA affects her vocal cords, leaving her unable to enunciate anything besides clicks and chirrups. Much to her dismay, she’ll never be able to unleash those terrible one-liners she’d worked so hard to develop. Maybe it’s for the best.

Weakness 2: Looks. Most people, understandably, are not all that inclined to be friendly to a 5'7" bug. Even if said bug just saved their hide. Screaming and panic usually ensues. To make sure that scenario doesn’t happen, Lizzy dons the amazing disguise of...a hoodie. Yeah, she’s not particularly great at keeping herself hidden. Lizzy’s accidentally revealed her face more times than she’s willing to admit, but luckily, the papers have more important things to worry about than some rogue mutant. But, whatcha gonna do? It’s not like she cares what some ungrateful humans think of her, right? Haha, yeah...right...

Weakness 3: Weakness to pesticides. Any chemical that can be used to kill an ordinary insect will make Lizzie violently ill. The degree to how it will effect her varies. Passing by an area that was recently sprayed will make her nauseous and woozy for a few minutes, but having it sprayed directly in her face can leave her a bedridden mess. Constant, uninterrupted contact with pesticides for more than a few minutes can kill her.
