The Looks

Nigel Heathrow is unremarkable in appearance; no one would remark on his appearance. When wearing the Helmet of Desire, though, he is able to generate any costume he desires, in addition to the helmet itself. He usually wears a black jumpsuit with his symbol on the chest underneath an emerald green overcoat. He also wears bracers on his forearms.

The Personality

Before becoming Doctor Thermodynamic, Nigel was obsessed with physics, especially the conversion of energy to matter. This obsession caused him to be somewhat cold and reclusive. However, since gaining his incredible power, he is eager to help people as much as the Helmet allows him to.

The Story

Nigel Heathrow is a PhD physicist who specializes in the conversion of matter to energy and vice versa. He was in search of a material that would allow for efficient conversion of energy to matter, in hopes of creating a _Star Trek_ style replicator. However, all of his experiments were unsuccessful.

He was just about to give up, when he heard rumors of the discovery of clues to the location of the Helmet of Desire, an artifact that could supposedly create any weapon that the wearer desired. After joining a long an arduous quest, Nigel discovered the Helmet before anyone else. However, rival treasure hunters attacked him before he could take it, and he placed the Helmet on his head for whatever minimal protection it could afford.

It was then that he discovered the true power of the Helmet of Desire. Being made of a metal that could store infinite amounts of energy indefinitely, the helmet actually contained an energy-based telepathic alien life-form named Ra'Shek. Ra'Shek helped him to escape, and, in the process, bonded telepathically with him, allowing him to become Doctor Thermodynamic.
