The Looks

Tristan generally dresses in a shirt and jeans, usually grey and blue in color. Depending on temperature he might also wear a leather coat. He lacks a superhero 'costume', feeling that his glowing skin is such a give away its hard from him to hide his identity.

The Legacy

Personality:Tristan on the surface a pretty simple person. He is generally kind of heart and pleasant to those he meets. He can also come off as a bit forget full and scatterbrained at times as well as somewhat naive. This is despite growing up as something of a social outcast, due to his powers, and to that end he is initially quite awkward as he wasn't able to master some social skills at a young age. Because of this and his brief imprisonment Tristan has difficultly trusting people, especially those who he worries are harboring secrets. However, once he has made a friend, Tristan is very loyal and supportive. Losing his friends, and later his parents, makes him highly protective of those he considers to be close to him. While he doesn't see himself as a paragon of justice Tristan is of the belief that he has a responsibility to use his powers for the benefit of everyone around him, his accidental injuring of a friend when he was a child is also the reason he believes he has duty to use his powers responsibly. His desire to help people comes from a similar place and to that end Tristan tries to be a 'people pleaser'. Holding very close to his mistakes is one of Tristan's vices and any mishap he does suffer generally weighs heavy on him. Even if the event wasn't explicitly his fault Tristan will still blame himself if something bad were to transpire. Tristan is still young and has much to learn about the world heroes and villains and his well meaning attitude can sometimes land him in more trouble, but his heart is in the right place.

History: Born to a small rural family in England's countryside Tristan's early life was fairly simple. He lived alone with his mother, his father having left the family before he was born and despite probing questions he very got a definitive answer from his mother, who seemed as unsure of it as Tristan. His life was soon changed when a lightning storm hit his school, overloading all the electronics and landing Tristan in a coma for a year. The lightning strike also jump started his meta gene and over his year of unconsciousness his body swiftly adapted to the dormant gene. As the year passed by his begun to show signs of being a meta-human, signs such as his skin starting to glow a light gold color and his usual brown hair turning black.

When he woke up a year later Tristan was amazed by what had happened to him, although the first few days were dangerous as he fought to control his powers he couldn't wait to return to his school and show all his friends what had happened. Instead he found that he had been made an outcast, now picked on by people he had called friends only a year ago. He fell into a deep depression, becoming a lot more with drawn in school and rarely left his house for fear of being ridiculed. In an attempt to help him his mother bought him a guitar and taught him how to play. While it didn't stop the bullying at school it did help his confidence and gave him something to focus on as well as someone to interact with. Soon his days were taken up with practice, both his musical skills and his new powers. Over the next few years he learned his to project his energy as well as how fly, something that provided him with much enjoyment.

However, things soon took a turn. During his tenth year at school Tristan was still suffering from bullies as well as having to deal with random power fluctuations that started when he entered puberty. Toward the end of year a group of kids cornered him in the hallway, boxing him in on all sides. In a fit of fear and panic Tristan accidentally unleashed his powers on the lead boy. He would suffer a few cracked ribs and burns across his torso. The event got him kicked out of the school and Tristan had to be home schooled. To a point this made Tristan happy, as he could focus on what he enjoyed but at the same time cut him off from a lot of social contact.

By the time he was nineteen Tristan had changed quite a bit. Home schooling had allowed him time to accept himself for who he was and, although he still feared being bullied again, seeing other meta-humans and the praise the good they had done with their powers had inspired him to do the same. However, before he could do that, he faced another obstacle.

Returning home he found that the inside of his house had been ransacked. Exploring further he found his mother a hostage to two heavily armed soldiers. Tristan tried to fight back but the men quickly disabled him. He passed out before they saw what became of his mother. He was taken by the men to a secure facility far from his home where they threw him in a cell.

Tristan soon discovered he'd been thrown into a science experiment used to test new weaponry on meta-humans in preparation for another coming battle. Forced to fight through grueling tests Tristan was forced to adapt quickly. Getting to meet his fellow captives they all had to work together to survive. And survive to either escape their prison or be rescued.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Ambient Energy Manipulation: Tristan’s main power is his ability to absorb energy from the environment around him and store it in his body. This includes absorbing heat and light from the sun or a light bulb, charged particles in the air or nuclear radiation. He can then redirect the energy to create a variety of effects; most commonly blasts of concussive force, more powerful beams of energy or protective walls.

Energy Shielding: Tristan is always, subconsciously, projecting a field of energy a few millimetres from his skin. At its weakest it can protect Tristan from most kinetic impacts, such as punches or occasional gunshots. However Tristan can focus more energy into the shield, the upper limits of this enhanced shield have yet to be seen. Though theoretically the strength of the shield is only limited by how much energy Tristan has no hand to focus into it.

Flight: Tristan can also redirect his stored energy to propel him through the air. If he focuses he can break the sound barrier and he has traveled as fast as most modern jets. He can also levitate by creating a ‘cushion’ of energy around him.

Weakness(es)

Energy Intake: Tristan’s powers are directly linked to the amount of energy he has stored and can intake. Generally the amount of ambient energy in the average area is enough to power his abilities with some left over to use on focused redirection. However, over taxation of his powers can lead to him fainting and anything over that will kill him.

Waste Energy: Similar to how humans can’t digest everything in their food Tristan similarly can’t store all the energy in his area. As such he is constantly emitting energy back into his environment. Some believe that this is so that there is a constant cycle of energy as Tristan absorbs and then redisposes it. Whatever the reason Tristan generally emits this ‘waste’ energy as heat and light. To that end his skin in generally warm to touch and he is constantly emitting a white-yellow glow. The amount of energy emitted grows in response to the amount he intakes. Meaning the more he absorbs the brighter he shines and the hotter he gets.

Indigestible Energies: There are some energies that Tristan has trouble absorbing. Energies not of this dimension can make him feel ill and prolonged exposure can induce sickness. He can absorb magical energy but it has fluctuating effects such as; making his powers, briefly, super powerful, causing his power to go widely out of control or reversing his attempts at redirection.

Energy Shielding Weakness: Tristan’s shield is potentially very powerful but it does have weaknesses. If it takes enough damage it will break and Tristan must focus on repairing it.
