So he had someone else he could work with, but then again the idea of having someone else with him meant even more strenuous planning. Because, well he wasted enough time doing his own planning, but he was sure he could trust Luke to be intelligent enough to contribute in the planning stages of things, though hopefully not more than him. Becoming redundant would have been quite the terrible thing indeed. They could talk later however, not when Matt was around and still doing the whole worried thing that he was doing. There was something about how there were other ways things could be done, but he didn't quite see a career in law enforcement doing anything. In a sense he saw the worth of it, but in the end they would have been bound by the law, and the law was a rather ineffective thing when dealing with the corrupt.  Typically the smart criminals used the law as a shroud to protect them, that was what made the career path useless, only someone who didn't operate within the law could do anything.

The television would be then changed to Fox News, a network full of so much trash that he did not even know if they told truth. ”Yay Fox news.” Pat said with a dull tone and a roll of his eyes. Honestly, he did not even bother with the news most of the times, but it did help when one did the whole vigilante thing. Still, Fox was not a network he could consider worthy of handing out news, well until tonight anyway when they revealed a rather interesting individual. Someone spoke about someone that did not quite care about children or something like that, a rather sucky individual when he thought about it. There was a video on the screen, someone in a black suit with a shattered mask stepping out over the fallen form of a winged individual.

Honestly, they had that villain look to them, and granted that was what he was being painted as. Gears began to turn in his head as he reclined in his chair, trying and mostly succeeding in keeping a straight face. If anything, it would likely be construed as shock at what he  was seeing, granted things were as they were. Perhaps worry over the thought of Luke having to deal with that. ”Yeah, there a lot of bad guys out there. The guy in black, that one chick with the fake tits. Very dangerous.” Pat said with a nod, not quite remembering or knowing names, because well...that would be breaking the fourth wall dammit. ”But I have a feeling changing your mind is not a possibility, doesn't look like it anyway.” He shrugged, with an almost disappointed sigh.

Become a cop? That's what Matt's answer was? How did having a badge make this any less risky? Sure it made you official and such, but in the end you weren't protected in any way. Not to mention you had to work within the law, and the law was notorious for protecting the exact people Luke went after. It was becasue of that he went after them, they somehow felt they were above rules and laws, he was trying to show them just how far from the truth that was. Luke just rubbed his face with his snapped fingered hands, pain going through them but it was ignored, in fact everything was being ignored right now. Luke tended to drop into deep thought when under stress, and as an extension tune everyone out. He was good at it really, he had to be with his life.

He didn't even want to answer the cop comment, despite disagreeing strongly with it. Sometimes he just didn't feel like stating his case, especelly since Matt seemed very set on the wrongness of his actions. Fox news was turned on, and was actually called fair and unbiased. That was utter bullshit, why was Matt acting this way? Maybe he was just worried, but that didn't make Luke any less confused by it. Luke watched the winged dude get his ass kicked by some villainous looking guy, which sucked because the archangel guy was just trying to help. But then again, Luke didn't know the full story, and he always questioned what he heard, especelly from the TV. Luke then broke free from his thoughts, looking down at Matt and Pat from his standing position. He had an odd look on his face, one difficult to read but you could see irritation, sadness, and maybe a bit of determination.

"A great man once said 'I'd prefer to die standing, than to live always on my knees.' Do you want that? Do you want to roll over for these fuckers? I really do understand where your coming from Matt, but you know me, you know I'm going to do this with or without you, and you know why I'm doing it too." Luke said, his voice becoming less of it's usual laid back and just fell out of bed self and becoming more clear. Whenever he was enthused or felt strongly about something that seemed to happen, as if he were now paying more attention to his speech.

"Over the years I've had nothing to give me a purpose, heck this might not even, but at least i would be doing something to make a difference. Why don't we show the world the masses aren't just something to control? That's all we have been for centuries, and I'm tired of it." Luke said, pausing to hear a response. He wasn't one to try and dominate a conversation, even if he was the main focus of it.

At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl) - Page 2 Empty Re: At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl)

So this was absolutely it. There was no changing his mind. To be honest there wasn't a surprise there. In order to change his mind Humanity would have to go through great lengths to break not only Luke's mind and will, but his usual personality and compassion for his friends. In truth he wished he could just tear him down, break him. It kept him safe but that was when one had to contemplate. What worth was a life that you were not allowed to live? Regardless of his desire to save his friend from danger...he had to let him go. He had to let him suffer his ultimate fate. This life wasn't one that Matt was allowed to live for him. But at the moment he had his own pressing matters. With a sigh he nodded his head and the nod suddenly turned into a shake left and right.

"It's your life. I have no right to judge you. But I do have the right to care about you. If you feel you gotta do this then fuckin' do it." He said, giving up on it and seeming to finally accept the fact he wasn't going to change Luke's mind. He closed his eyes and tried to shake off the worry. The worry was real. Despite his life and despite the hypocrisy, he knew he had to stop worrying about them. If these dumbasses wanted to died then they'd do it one way or another. He just hoped that they'd stay out of his way, or he just might have to oblige them. Talking tough to himself in order to try and prepare himself? That never worked...he didn't even know why he did it. Standing up as he sighed he peeled off his glasses and wiped his forearm over his eyes and put the glasses back.

"I left someone to pick you up...so I'm gonna get back to them and hopefully have fun in the process." He said clearing his throat and smirking. "Don't get yourself killed. I've already buried everyone else." He said before looking to Pat and nodding with a little "bye" and walking out. Getting into his old beat up car he sat there. Fully aware people might still be watching him he closed his eyes and put his forehead to the steering wheel gently as if taking a moment to gather his thoughts. Taking his phone out of his pocket he clicked the music player and enabled voice recognition before he started playing a random song. Pulling out of the parking space he drove off and continued to drive. Once he was far enough away he looked to the phone and cleared his throat, his stoic and stale tone quite apparent of his true indifference to events or else true desensitized nature.

"Call B.Pax."He said a moment, the phone rang and the music stopped as he continued to drive. The phone picked up and there was only silence. "Hey it's a nice day out. I think we should get together and play some ball." Taking a few extra turns to be sure he wasn't being followed and ending up at his own house. There was an enthusiastic affirmation before the phone call hunt up and Matt stepped out of the car with a groan and entered his old dilapidated house. Immediately he got his earbuds and put them in his ears and decided to walk out for a bit of sunshine. Of course because of a various part o trial and error he went to his super-secret location in order to more properly prepare himself. Today his target was another "super" who last week's antics causes the death of four "innocent" and hard working people. True, the authorities stopped the bank robbery, but was the cost of traceable money worth it? No. Not it was now.

Archangel had done the same, though his situation was a bit different. They still had to pay, and now...they had his number. He had the same mask. He'd fake his death soon enough. Start a new alias and begin again. Gearing up he went to work a his research lead him to a very specific someone. The name was a name of someone particularly renown for their crimes against humanity. The being known as "Avarice" was in town, escorted by three guards. Avarice had no real powers of his own, his "power" was the ability to create perfect replicas of all forms of currency. Four people died and he managed to buy off a few pricks in the police force and the judicial system to get off scott free. Well that wasn't going to sit well.

Slowly he set himself up and prepared to intercept Avarice when he was on his way home from open interviews for some underworld types and potential henchmen. Since it was open interviews, Humanity intended to pose as an aspiring lackey in order to garner some form of clue or intel and then rushing off to the interception point. Avarice was not a very good villain, but hey....he was an easy one to take own at least. His past crimes definitely made him worth it too.

Luke's mind was not something that looked like it could be easily changed, especially when they sounded so into something. It was inspiring in a sense, despite the underlying illegal nature of what both of them were entangled in. Pat didn't enjoy seeing Matt like this, but then again it was not always about what he enjoyed, so he had to endure it for now. Granted hiding his dislike of it would have roused more suspicion than anything else so he let it flow across his face. ”Well..try not to have too much fun. Take care Matt.” Pat said with a shrug, waving to Matt as they would make their leave and leave the two to talk or whatever it was they planned to do. There was guilt there, that much he could say but then again as always guilt was something he would have to suppress for a moment.

Once he was sure that they were gone, he turned to Luke with a slightly raised brow while considering them. They were both in the whole vigilante thing, which meant it would have been advantageous to work together. ”Now, I think it's time to talk a little business, isn't it?” He asked adjusting his sitting position, pulling his legs up and letting them cross under him with elbows resting on each knee. ”I didn't think you would actually go about doing the whole vigilante thing, but that makes things a little easier for me. I imagine we could work together, or something like that, make our work a lot easier if there were two people doing this.” He paused, chewing on his lower lip. ”I would have liked to have another friend helping out, but I guess...Matt isn't too happy with the idea of it.” Having them three working together to get rid of criminals, now that would have been ideal in his opinion, but ideal situations did not always happen. Having the possibility of Luke working with him was fine enough.

”Which reminds me...” Pat noted before standing up with a fluid motion, lifting the cushion from the couch and rummaging around it until he produced a notebook with a slightly creased cover. A pen was held within it, Pat removing it and flourishing it almost. ”I've been following a certain meta for a small while now. It's sorta tough, getting all the info I needed to make my move. I mean, capturing key targets, doing what I need to do. You could say it's pretty tedious….very tedious actually,” he digressed with a shrug, flipping to a page with notes scribbled over it in semi-legible handwriting, as well as a few drawings. Forcibly folding the front cover of the notebook backwards, he presented it to Luke.

”This is all I have compiled on this target so far. Look at the back and the next page too, that has some stuff that seems pretty important too.” Pat stated, sounding far more serious than normal. ”You'll probably need a mask..or something. Can't have you getting your face seen and causing more problems for us.” He then spoke outloud, though it was more speculation to himself than actual suggestion. He had his own plan, not exactly some master plan but then again it was a plan. All he needed to do was insert himself into a scene with some worming and maybe even Luke's help now. From there, it was required that he slip some rather shady drugs into the guys drink, preferably the one they enjoyed drinking. Alot of potential for things to mess up, but then again it also had the potential to work.

So with everything in the open, they would likely talk and plan things about how they would take the bad guy down.

So, Matt would come to the realization that Luke could not be swayed. You see, he was stubborn when he wanted to be, and Matt likely read that as he was so talented at doing. With a sigh Luke calmed himself and sat down, watching Matt leave. Yeah, Luke was disappointed, not really in Matt, maybe himself really. Regardless, this is how things were. At least one of his friends understood. Really he thought Matt would be the one to join him in it rather then Pat.

"See ya, i guess....." Luke said, a bit of exasperation in his tone. From there it seemed Pat and himself were left to talk, that or just play video games. Though, it seemed Pat had decided to do the former almost immediately. The male produced a notebook, one that seemed to be hidden under a cushion. Luke was then presented it, and was quite shocked to find what was inside. it seemed to be all the info they needed to go after a minor metahuman. This particular one was rather well known as being able to create currency, somehow. He used it for self gain, and that made him a perfect target. Luke flipped through it, finding a rough outline as to how Pat wanted to take care of him. It involved drugs and considering Pat's very nature it was likely non lethal, that would have to be changed, but Luke would go with the plan until the time came to get rid of the guy.

"I have to say Pat, i didn't expect this from you. But then again, i didn't expect Matt to react in the way he did. The more you know." Luke said, handing Pat the notepad and going to his computer. He did some searching with Tor, the deep web seemed to be the place where a asshole bad guy would lurk. After all they had to make connections somewhere, and anyone with any brains knew the anonymous internet was a good place to do that. Searching the name Avarice brought up a literal request for minions, which was comical to look at really. The dude was offering fifty grand a week, which sounded awesome but then again you had to be a massive dick to get it. The address and time were posted, and they knew where to take him down.

"Alright, why don't we get dressed up like bad guys, and show up at this dudes lackey interview party? Then you can drug him or whatever." Luke said. Honestly he planned to blow the guy to hell or shoot him, but Pat didn't need to know that. He would bring his bag, which contained many different kinds of bombs and his paintball gun. He would also bring his handgun, but he felt that was to obvious of a weapon compared to some of his stealthier stuff. The only problem was how they would get there.

"So....you don't have a car, and mine is probably somewhere in Canada, so it's either bikes or a cab."

At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl) - Page 2 Empty Re: At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl)

Post by Zell August 6th 2015, 7:04 pm

Well everything was to be expected. Humanity had dressed himself appropriately. The deep web was a great place to find crap like this. It was almost sad how stupid some of these "Evil Genius" types were, or how much common sense they lacked. There was almost nothing to do or say as he stepped into the dark area with a paintball mask on his face, his glasses tucked safely in his trench coat pocket while he found a place to sit with the other "candidates" so to speak. It wasn't overly glamorous. Three by three everyone was being divided up and called in. It was much to Humanity's surprise when he realized that two familiar faces entered. One of them looked like he had just gotten thrown into ghetto school and the other looked...well he looked like Pat. Humanity adjusted his hood and his paintball mask a bit before producing a little saliva in his mouth, in case he had to speak. Throwing his voice off was going to be equally important.

Figuring that Luke being the tech-savy son of a bitch he was (no offense to his mother) Humanity unclipped the back of his phone and removed not only the battery, but the SD card as well, stashing the battery in his pocket and slipping the SD card into his mask when he pretended to reach up and scratch within the hood. The next thing he did was implant a second SD card he purchased through an anonymous account that was opened by a guy who hated metahumans, whose also been dead (supposedly) for fifteen years. This would play it's part a little later, bit for now... Luke wasn't getting into his phone. That's right Humanity played Watchdogs; well actually it's more like he "suffered through and experienced an existential crisis over" rather than played. The only good thing about that game was the sassy chick who helped the main character. Sign Humanity to work up with her, because that bitch could get shit done. No spoilers obviously. Regardless, yeah he was doing everything he could last minute in order to keep people out of his phone.

Thankfully his exposure to Pat and Luke was very brief as he was called in shortly after while they had to wait for the next round. His exposure was literally to that of Avarice sitting there and asking him questions with half interest and a thick Brooklyn accent. Humanity's response was quite simple to the first few questions. "Your name" and your "qualifications". But when it came to the question of what his "skills" were Humanity claimed to be a great driver, something Avarice hadn't hear before. Avarice of course asked for a demonstration, to which he got into the transport vehicle that Avarice and his goons went in and may have turned his phone on and "left it" in the cushion behind the passenger's seat with the GPS on. After giving a decent display of driving skills Avarice informed him that he'd be kept in mind if they needed driver soon but for the time being he should "scram and forget about this meeting". He pretended to be a little crest fallen but obliged, allowing Pat and Luke to take their turns while he went ahead and prepared for his own encounter.

"Okay look. I've had a long day. If yous two are gonna waste my time scram. You better have something worth hirin' you for capische?" Avarice asked them, his accent layered on thick. "Okay boys. Gimmie ya names and tell me why we should spend our money on you."

Pat dressed up not too obviously considering their plan to play the part of goons for the man known as Avarice. Sure, the idea of working for a metahuman that basically made money was nice, but then again that was not their true goal. It was in the end to take the man down, as that was part of the whole vigilante thing anyway. His disguise was composed of a simple mask he bought on a cosplay spiel once and a pair of dull green contact lenses, with his hair mussed up in a different way to give himself a slightly different look. The mask mostly covered the lower part of his face, just a few inches under the nose, hiding his mouth. All in all, he liked to think he looked minion material, especially with the street clothes he decided to change into, which were a simple par of jeans, a shirt and a hoodie over that.

Removing the mask and stowing it into a small bag slung over his shoulder, he smirked upon being asked how they would get there.”A cab. I made sure to call one a good five minutes ago. So they should be here in a few minutes and they can take us wherever we need to go.” Pat noted making sure everything was in place, somewhat pleased with his planning as he rummaged through the sack to make sure everything was in place. If he thought out his act well enough, they would have no choice but to hire him, oh they would have no choice indeed. Granted, all he needed to do was incapacitate this guy, and then deal with them afterwards. Not that killing was in mind, but he would get dealt with anyway. With Luke helping out, well he had a feeling that things would be going much smoother.

”Now come on Luke, we have work to do.” Pat noted as he stepped out through the front door, a vehicle rolling in which could be assumed to be the cab. Once both were inside, it would be on the move, though it smell odd for some reason. Pat found himself enamored with that strange smell for a while now, until at last they would arrive at their destination and he stepped out. ”Looks like the place.” He whsipered at a volume he hoped only Luke could hear as they stepped into the building, hands adorned in padded leather gloves as they stepped into the building where there were to meet this Avarice guy. People were being called in three at a time to have their interview and he had a feeling they would be two of the next three that were called in. With the mask covering his lower jaw now placed on, he would wait and eventually they would find themselves being called in.

A smile slipped under the mask upon hearing the accent, simply because Pat found it amusing. He did a little homework, perhaps enough to make sure his alias was not found out instantly. ”The names Sean Collin.” He started with a voice slightly changed by speaking within a mask but able to be understood by the male easily enough. ”And my skill is poisons, drugs and things of that nature. If you need someone killed, incapacitated or anywhere in between I have something to do that. I've brought samples of my own in case you would want a demonstration.” Hiding behind a mask made confidence a much easier thing to posses and well, he did need to show his best in an interview.

Post by Stoic August 7th 2015, 3:57 am

Luke was already wearing pretty decent street clothes for this occasion. Dark wash skinny jeans and a grey hoodie, along with black vans. All he needed now was a few accessories, which he had. A simple bandana, which he tied around his face, then put his hood up. Then a pair of fingerless gloves, which did well in holding the bandages in place and hiding them. It was nice having a cab already on he way, so now all they had to do was wait. The cab kinda smelled, like his grandmas house for some reason. It made the ride quite uncomfortable really, but he dealt with it without complaining. Finally they would arrive at the place, Luke gasping for air as he nearly fell out of the cab, fresh air never tasted so good.

"Thank god we're out of there...." Luke said, looking to the building in front of them. Soon enough they would go inside, and upon doing so Luke used his phone to start scanning around with a program he had cooked up a few weeks ago. It was collecting the numbers of all the phones in the area, which he could then trace later, maybe get some info on new targets or other criminal organizations. They would be told to wait like an actual job interview to be called in, which Luke couldn't help but chuckle at. That was really odd, but then again this whole situation was.

They would be asked what their skills were once they were called in, and Pat would state his, something about poisons and drugs. Honestly Luke didn't know if that was bullshit or if he actually did, not that it was hard with Google around. Attention was then brought to Luke, who thought of a random name as quick as he could. Lucky for him his echoic memory allowed him to recall convincing names he had heard before, rather then something stupid like Bob Smith.

"Timothy E Waters at your service." Luke said, satisfied with that name. He had heard it while shopping, not the E part of course, he just threw that in for flare.

"I'm a technology expert, if you want something hacked I'm a good person to speak too. I'm also an explosives adept and sharpshooter, as well as a professional freerunner. You could say the combination of those skills makes me great for infiltration. But really my biggest help would be hiding your shit better then just using the deep web." Luke said, smirking under his bandana. He felt that was a decent assortment of skills. Whether he was accepted or not though, the guy would see them in action.

"Hey, you know what. If yous guys think ya can do it. Let's see ya do it. C'mon. Get in da caa. We'll take a drive." Avarice said, obviously impressed with the resume delivered to the. It had to be the boy's spunk. They reeked of it, or would it be better to say moxie? Yeah, they had that moxie. Hopefully they'd get into the van with Avarice and a thug. Two thugs in the front of the transport as they drove off on their pre-designated route.

"A'ight guys. Gotta ask. Yous guys are pretty qualified. Why this? Why not go be a pharmacist, or you, why not software engineerin' or stuffs?" Of course the question didn't last long as there was a little beeping. The second grunt in the passenger seat grunted as he reached back into the crease of the cushion, pulling out a phone. The phone had it's GPS on, and with the help of modern devices and their interactions Humanity was able to track the van, and with a quick pull of the trigger there was a piercing incendiary bullet shot right into the engine, piercing through the armor before sparking a small explosion as the under-carriage lit up. The explosion of the gas-tank upturned the entire truck, thought the blast was towards the back and the doors flew open. The first two thug were already dead, smoldering flesh permeating the air with a repulsive stench.

"G-godda- W-what's goin on!?" Avarice asked before the thug turned to him and reoriented himself. "W-H-hey go out there and shoot them, call for help! Something!" He babbled. There was a noise form the external world. The thug pulled up his gun and moved just a hair, clearing the doors with his eyes fixated and gun at the ready...and poof. His head was missing and the only thing in it's place was a pink mist spewing into the air as it's extremities flailed about, falling forward and spewing Avarice, and the other two as well...well...that was the most probable thing at least.

Humanity stood there, black trench coat and all with his partially cracked mask revealing one hazel eye and his sniper now at the side. He was silent as his boot steps clicked, he came forward, one hand on the gun, one hand on a grenade pin. If he was even jerked the wrong way, or grappled he could pull it and blow this entire area to kingdom come, the spark form the iron pin sliding against the custom flint socket would be more then enough to do it.

"Come on out Avarice...you must pay the price for your crimes." Humanity didn't blink, didn't miss a detail as his voice modifier continued to mix up and give his voice a very strange and raspy voice, a hungry and feral growl with the rasp of the living dead.

It appeared that this crime boss was slightly interested within their talents, enough so to atleast suggest they take a drive, even if something told him that could go terribly wrong. The worry only reached his lips hidden by the mask, making everything look fine to the male they were speaking to with their thick sounding brooklyn accent. Nodding, he made sure to sound pleased to avoid any sort of suspicion.  ”Alright boss.” He said with a pliant tone, all of them standing up as they made their way to the transport, lead by a vehicle with another thug along with them. Considering the situation, well he was still nervous about the whole sitting around in a vehicle with a rather rich crime boss with the possibility to buy anything they wanted with that useful little meta power of theirs.

While this drive went on, they would go to converse while his contact tinged eyes would slowly turn to Luke and then back to the brooklyn accented male. He would likely go to spek first but before that happened, well the car would violently hitch. It was preceded by a gunshot as the car would toss from where it was driving into a more compromised position. Pat found himself being tossed around, jostling around as he felt his head slam against one of the sides of van as conciousness became less of something that he had. Once the vehicle came to a stop, fingers would drag through mussed up dark brown hair as they felt over what seemed to be slightly warm liquid pouring from a wound on his forehead. Ow...what the hell happened? he thought to himself, crawling out of the wreckage that was one a van with senses all a little hazy from the potential concussion.

Well this vigilante thing may have not seemed like everything he wanted, but then again there were always those annoying complications that came along. One of the thugs would raise their weapon to deal with the one who had fucked them up, but all they got for it was a bloody cloud for a head. Blood, and chunks of brain matter splattered across his face, leaving him with an expression that could only be described as shocked beyond all belief, eyes widening to the extent that they could without ripping skin. Aside from potential mental scarring, well that left them with something even more dangerous. This crazy guy with the black mask stood before them, looking much like that guy from the television. There was one hand on a gun and the other on something else, what looked like....a grenade. They had a grenade, that made things so much more dangerous.

The eye that looked out from the broken side of the mask was vaguely hazel, their voice sounding vaguely demonic. Now this was dangerous, he had no way he could do anything against this vigilante and honestly, well he was having a hard time just standing up let alone doing anything. So hopefully Luke could do something.

At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl) - Page 2 Empty Re: At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl)

Post by Stoic August 10th 2015, 11:06 am

That was really easy, like, wow. Infiltrating multi-billion doller criminal organizations seemed to be a faster process then getting a job at a McDonald's. But then again, maybe that was a given, considering the illegal aspect of it all. Luke was a bit suspicious really, but pushed it away. If he was going to do this, he couldn't back out now. So they would all head to a van, though Avarice called it a car, more specifically, a caa. His accent was pretty amusing, it was so damn thick. Then a question was asked, something about why Luke hadn't been doing something else with his life. That was a good question, though Luke couldn't answer honestly. He was about to say a response, but the car shook, the engine exploding a little. Luke was ready to bolt from the car, he didn't want to get dead, not right now at least.

His head shot around, looking for the source of the shots that had brought the car to a stop. It seemed on their first day of being criminals they would already get shot to shit. When the henchmen got out, he took a bullet, which sprayed his blood all over the place and onto Luke's mask, oh he was so glad to have put that thing on. His widened in a primal fear, he was about to grab Pat and just run like hell, but knew that probably wasn't the best course of action with the sniper looming over their heads. In a moment, they would see the man responsible for this, it was the guy from fox news. Yeah, this wasn't good, not at all. He seemed to want Avarice, just like they did, but the guy would probably kill them as well, unless Luke did what he came to do. He had a feeling the guy would believe he was just a vigilante if he took the boss out right there.

Pulling the 1911 handgun from his waist, he drew it quickly, pointing it directly at Avarice's head at point blank range. It was likely too quick to react to, especially considering the fact the guy thought Luke and Pat were on his side. Luke then exhaled and closed his eyes, pulling the trigger as he did. This would send the handguns trade mark spherical bullet out, and likely splatter the metahumans brains all over the windows. If that was the result, Luke would pause for a moment, looking at what he had done.... He had done this before, he just didn't remember, that's why he wasn't feeling as much guilt as before. He looked at the body blankly for a few seconds, then snapped himself out of it, reaching over Pat to open his door and then shoving him out. Once they both fumbled out, they would be on the opposite side of the van that the other vigilante was. Luke had his gun at the ready, he really didn't want to shoot this guy, he didn't fit into his MO. And if he just started offing anyone and everyone, well, that wasn't vigilantism that was serial murder.

"Avarice is dead! So, yeah, you can leave now." Luke said, hoping the guy would do just that rather then, you know, shoot him and Pat.

This wasn't what Humanity was expecting, especially as a man in a bandana popped out and announced that Avarice was dead. His eyes fixated on the same disguise he saw Luke wearing as he left. He sincerely hoped that fate was kidding him and that his friends did not literally somehow get recruited into a gang just in order to murder the leader in cold blood. Why were they even after Avarice? His mind was reeling, however his mind snapped back to Luke. He knew his living situation, he knew what it was like to be what one considered "poor". That being said it only made sense that he would target someone like Avarice, someone who capitalized and flaunted his money over others. How petty and selfish.

Sounded like something Humanity would do.....

"I'm supposed to trust you why?" Humanity asked as he whipped the large rifle and made a skillful shot at the gun in Luke's hand, hoping that the sheer force would disarm him. He had a sniper rifle so hopefully Luke wouldn't do anything stupid. Well he would... but he wouldn't run. You see his friends were very different from one and other. Opposites attracting and such. Fight for flight. Luke will fight and Pat will turn to flight. "Get out of the car. I know you're in there. Slowly now and we won't have much incident." Humanity ordered as the king's scepter was still trained on Luke. He just needed to pray that Luke not do anything stupid...like try to charge him in reckless abandon. Oh for the love of God Luke please don't do it.

"So you've come and ended the life of Avarice. This is a dangerous lifestyle you boys have ventured into. Why don't you two go back to your pride parade or your video games or whatever you're into." Humanity said with the motion of the scepter. He really didn't want to do this, but he was about to get his hands dirty...he could feel it.

At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl) - Page 2 Empty Re: At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl)

Post by Charlatan August 12th 2015, 11:57 am

Slowly the shock of having a persons brain splatter all over his face slipped away, leaving him with a painful awareness of what was happening around him. It was increased only by the sudden shock of seeing Luke execute Avarice in an almost callous manner, another body on the ground really. The idea that they had done so without even a second thought, well that was more than anything the reason he was appalled at the action. Still he could agree that he wanted the vigilante to leave, make things much easier in getting away for all of them. A shot was fired off, as he looked around though the reason itself was unknown. Not like he was looking for anything really, there was no outrunning a bullet and that left him in a scary situation. Panic gripped his heart live a vice, making doing anything else really difficult.

All he needed was a distraction, something simple enough to make getting the hell out of there possible. It would have been a lie to say that he did not consider using Luke within that plan, but more than anything the thought was a passing one, not given much time. With a gun trained on his friend, the guy would order them to get out of the car, Pat standing there with mind running a million miles a minute, thinking of the ways he could get himself out of this. It was enough to give someone a headache really, but then again his own life was on the line, no time to really complain about things. As for the whole issue of trust, well that was an interesting thing when you had the gun. For all they knew he would kill them anyway, considering they were kind of a killer.

What pride parades had to do with anything he didn't know, but it felt almost...personal. That brought into question if that was a an off handed quip or something deeper. ”Are….you seriously lecturing us at gunpoint?” He found himself asking, sounding somewhat surprised more than anything. Honestly, he had a feeling they were going to kill him anyway, it was just one of those gut feelings. ”Whats next? Are you going to lecture us about the evils of alcohol while downing a fifth of Jäger?”  Possibly not the smartest thing to say but then again being told not to do said thing while the person was doing so themselves, felt a little wrong, granted all of this was wrong to begin with.

Post by Stoic August 13th 2015, 11:01 pm

Now, there was an interesting question this mans actions brought up. He wasn't shooting them, instead choosing to shoot the gun from Luke's hand and then proceed to tell them how wrong they were for trying to be vigilantes. Very odd, very odd indeed. Almost as if he wanted to protect them from the life style, but why would this guy even care? Luke saw a bluff here, this guy wasn't going to kill him. Sure, he might shoot his knee cap or something, but he was safe from getting his head shot off as far as he could tell. He was a little irritated his gun was shot, he liked that gun.

"Asshole move dude, that's a 1911, it's like, an antique." Luke said with a smirk, looking at the now quite broken gun on the ground. That was an impressive shot, the guy managed to shoot the gun out of Luke's hand with no damages to the actual hand. That was a relief really, considering the already pretty broken fingers he had. Now Luke just had to think what to do here, he had no gun or anything, though his pack back was filled with, um, lots of stuff. It could at least provide a distraction if worse came to worse.

"If you're not going to kill us, and your main target is dead, why don't you, um, leave?" Luke said, wondering why the guy was still here even though Avarice's brains were all over the window. At this point Luke didn't know what to do, Pat couldn't run as fast as he could, and the guy had a sniper. It was either do something and bolt or get bitched at by a crazy guy with a gun.

At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl) - Page 2 Empty Re: At least I'm not in Canada anymore. (Humanity and Withdrawl)

Post by Humanity August 14th 2015, 10:34 pm

"Oh, did I strike a nerve? Good to know." Humanity said at Pat rather nonchalantly as he essentially cut him off an ignored him. Three things he knew Pat did not like at all. His attention turned to Luke and his head turned to the side. "How do you know Avarice is my target? How do you know I wasn't sent by a rather wealthy contractor to ensure you had an unfortunate accident? Maybe I was just calling out Avarice to look good for the videos I'm going to upload." Humanity challenged, and given his current predicament there was only one real way he would know that. Humanity stepped forward, but let the gun go down a little. Did these fuckers really want to piss him off? HIM!? He let out an amused little growl, like that of a predator sizing up it's dinner. Truthfully he was avoiding the stereotypical sigh that he did so much while playing to his vicious persona.  He had to recall that they didn't know who he was...or all he had done.

"Do you really think you're not being watched? You think with some self-prescribed proxies and with an antique gun you can stand up in our world? Do you really think you have a voice in this world? Do you think anyone will rally behind your death? Your death will be as pointless as your life was." Humanity stated, sort of snarling at the blonde human he was berating. Didn't they realize that Matt legitimately cared about them? He had a few select people left in his life and he didn't want to lose them. These fuckers were gonna mess up his psyche. He was starting to see Left Shark! now too, which was bad. Humanity examined the two of them and lifted his one arm, circling his finger around as if symbolizing or signaling them to turn around.

"You're going to turn around...and I may shoot one of you. Or you don't turn around and I shoot both of you." Humanity said as he raised his gun a little, proof that he wasn't joking. When they complied he would make his next move...if not he'd attempt to shoot them both in the foot. It would likely remove the foot but-Is this really what I've come to? Oh for the love of God please just turn around guys. If they did comply he actually would not be shooting either of them. Because all he would be doing is using a grappling blade from his ballistic knife and shooting it up at the ledge of the building top. Silently he was zipped up and he rolled over the side silently, being careful to not even make a noise. When he finished he smiled as he took off over the roof, leaving Luke and Pat on their own. What was the purpose of holding them there on the road? Keeping them in this one spot at the scene of the crash? It was simple, and made quite apparent as police cars were flashing and their sirens began to storm the streets, turning and headed on their way right towards Pat and Drifter. Humanity had no desire to harm his friends...but he would rather see them in jail than see them in Hell.

It would be interesting to see where it went from here.

That guy...totally ignored him, not something that he really enjoyed at all. The feeling of being ignored never really felt good, and in this situation was even worse when he thought about it. Still, he did not want to die and that was more than enough of a reason to turn around despite the fact that he disliked the idea of being at the mercy of this asshole, so that was what he did. Within his mind he counted down towards when everything went black, because this guy obviously did not like him. Luke seemed to do the same, and there was no shooting, instead there were cops. Oh god, there were cops and that meant they were here for some reason. ”Cops….we're dealing with the cops.” He muttered with a sigh, rolling his eyes before turning to Luke with a slight frantic expression. Rapidly he took in the area around him, letting eyes fall upon one location.

”Got any ideas, because all I have is somehow blowing the street up...or cyanide...because I do have that.” There was nothing to do really, so he just put his hands up. "Well looks like we have no other choice."
