Zell, The Hunter
"...but eventually the Celestial Dragon would fall in defeat as Zell had bested it for the final time. The White Fatalis had lost it's eye in their many battles, but all in all it remained reletively intact. Zell had the creature bested and when he did...

...He chose mercy."
~ The Hero of Pokke legend excerpt.

Basic Biography

Real Name: Zell
Renegade/Hero/Villain Name: The Hunter
Title: The Hero of Pokke
Alignment: True Neutral
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Hair: Black
Eyes: Green
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 145lbs
Blood type: AB-

The Looks

Base Apperance: My Guild Card/Apperance Please keep in mind that this is the base apperance. The Armor he is wearing is also typically part of his every day, and this itself will serve as an appropriate armor.

Armor Set 1: Common/Basic Armor Basic Formal Blue Guild Guard Attire, issued for a veteran Hunter. Zell is not the person within the picture.

Armor Set 2: The Second Armor Set The Armor of the Black Beast of the Forest. This Armor is more effective than Set 1. When Angry, the scales stick out and he surges with a faint "water effect" of violets and blues.

Armor Set 3: The Final Armor Set An "Ultimate" Armor that was created using the materials of "The Ancestor Dragon". Vibrantly alive, illuminating at times and when Zell is angered, or is using his special attacks the chest seems to glow red and it seems to surge sparks slightly.

Additional Armor:
Zell is a Hunter, he lives and breathes to face monsters and protect people from the monstrosities of the world. As such, killing and carving and claiming trophies from monsters/creatures are part of his profession. Using materials he gains from people he beats, he may appear in different armors he created from people he's defeated.

The Legacy

Personality:
Courageous, determined and unwavering are three words that could describe Zell's personality on the field as a hunter. He takes the risk, he sets his mind to the defeat of the monster, or the enemy and he refuses to surrender. He has no fear, and knows no rest and seems to care little for the injury he may recieve as he sets forth to battle creatures five times to fifty times (or even greater) in size.
His unwavering conviction and determination are attributed to the very reasons he is as successful at Monster Hunting as he is.

Calculating, Genius, Quiet, Selfless and A Natural Leader are the other traits that would effectively describe Zell. He is quick to notice, quick to adapt and overcome and even quicker to act and formulate a stratagem. His intelligence seems to know no bounds and he tries to only speak when answering a question or when he is contributing crucial information or insight to the situation. Zell is also a self-less Team-player hunter. This often times manifests in minor ways like giving up his last Potion, or herbs and putting himself in a dire situation. In the end, while many people don't know this... Zell functions on the belief that he doesn't deserve to live, that life is a gift, and if he can give his life to save others from the very creatures he fights, even if it's to save a brother in arms, he will do so. This is not A DEATH DRIVE, it is simply an "enlightened" mentality that life is a gift, and if to perserve another's life will kill him... he will be ready to die.

Zell's Intelligence and his cunning, alongside with his loyal nature and his selfless nature and concern for the members of his hunting party had led him to be called a natural born leader, and while he is called this he earnestly rejects the title "leader" to live by his phrase.

"In the Hunt, there is no leader. Our prey adapts, and so must we. We are just brothers and sister trying to survive. The role of "Leader" changes from moment to moment. Any moment you have to save another, or deal a blow...you are the Leader. In the next moment, it is you who must be the follower. You must adapt and be ready, just as the monster is."

History:
Zell's past was simple enough, though the path he took and his view on it is very complex and convoluted. Zell was born the son of two members to the Guild Hunter. His parents were a Hunter named "Lorian" and his mother was a Guild Researcher named "Alenya". Growing up Zell looked up to his father with utter adoration, beaming ful with confidence that his father was the greatest hunter of Kokoto. He remembered hearing news that his father, Lorian at the age of Twenty One was on a visit to Kokoto, and as he arrived the masses had fled. His father, brandishing his Gun-Lance and all black armor that made him seem more kin to demon than man, set off and fought the large "Mountain Dragon" Lao-Shan Lung. His father returned, with claws and fangs, and a Ruby specific to the creature itself. His father, single-handedly did what all others had fled, and refused to attempt. He slew a Lao-Shan Lung. Those were the things he remembered of his father, a strong hunter of monsters, who still came home every chance he could to carry little Zell on his shoulders, and sit under the stars with him and his mother.

Zell grew up with his mind dead-set. He wanted to understand these monsters. He spent his days and night studying the creatures, often times going to the training school to watch hunters and how they fought the beasts until defeat. He also noticed how handsomly paid they were and it began to make him wonder why his father was a hunter, yet they lived off of his mother's income as a guild researcher. He would inquire and learn that his father refused all payments other than a gratuity repair to his armor, and the claims to the beast's carcass for the use of armor. True enough, his father would take small compensations, but NOTHING near the wealth the others would greedily amass. It was from his father that he learned the very comment that would make up his mind on the day he became a hunter. Long before he even had the desire to be a hunter. "I have the power to do what others can't. I can defend them even when they can't defend themselves... So why would I charge them money when it's my duty? My duty that I was born to do...because I can. I let them fix my armor...just as my shield requires to be fixed... but why charge them more than that? It's not as if my shield charges me money for every block it makes and every time it saves my life...so why should I, their shield, charge them?" Those words would carry with him the rest of his life.

Zell was just reaching his adolescents when he decided he wanted to be like his mother, a Guild researcher. His father was perhaps not the most enthusiastic, often times jokingly teasing Zell on his "girly" profession, although he knew the choice was Zell's to make, and he was secretly glad Zell was desiring a reletively safe field of work that was still useful to the takedown of the beasts. Zell began his studious venture when his mother was called away to a place known only as "The Ancient Tower" to do an excavation. Lorian paled and demanded to go with his mother. At the age of Fifty One, the hunter grabbed his gear, donning the demonic armor that monsters across the land MUST have known and feared (Or so Zell believed) and he went with his mother and several other Guild Hunters to this excavation site. They would be gone, sending letters by Guild curior for the next year...and then suddenly they'd stop. The months went by, and then a curior arrived one last time, bearing a note from the Guildmaster with an apology and a G-ranked Honor-Badge with his father's guild card, and his mother's Researcher badge. All that was noted by the Guilsmaster's note was that an unknown Dragon of celestial white colors descended upon the tower, and after thta no one was heard from again. Apparently many of the Hunter's corpses were fried, and beyond all else... His parents bodies were scarred beyond recognition, charred and grotesquely burned and Zell was robbed the chance to say his good-byes as the bodies were buried and he was denied a proper funeral for them.

Zell spent months in shock, but eventually he was stirred from his shock, immediately picking up a Gun-lance and heading out to the training school. He was laughed at, as the rest of the hunters had been training for years, but Zell insisted and didn't take no for an answer. Using the gun-lance he dove in against the foe, The Yian Kut-Ku. He may not have been practicing for years, but he had been watching. Patterns, the way the creature turned, the movements he could make to avoid collision with the creature's tail. He also noticed that the creature's furlled ears were sensetive to his footsteps. Discharging a Wyvernfire shot, the creature screeched and became disoriented. After ten minutes, Zell emerged victorious, and the instructor immediately accepted him as a pupil. Zell learned quickly, and he memorized EVERYTHING, never letting a detail slip by, and never letting any chance to learn or engage a monster pass. His father once told him that if one was born a shield, why would he not defend? Zell held a different belief. Being a Shield could protect for a short time...but ultimately... it was the Sword who drove back, or vanquished the beast. His father was a shield...so be it. But he was a sword. He would exterminate all monsters...or die trying.

Zell's work was excellent, and he quickly outgrew the needs of his town, and he ventured to Kokoto. He came to train under the Hero of Kokoto, but bitterness drove him from his path. He would have not even stayed long enough to learn more than the instructors name or history. The man killed a Lao-Shan...and was hailed "The Hero of Kokoto" a title that SHOULD have belonged to the one who accomplished it long before him. Zell's father... Zell was bitter and for the first time he was driven from knowledge and wisdom of the Hero of Kokoto by the age of ninteen. He would make his own way, towards Moga, thugh on a detour traversed the snowy mountains of the Pokke region. Much to his dismay, he found himself derailed. Armed with a Gun-Lance and a shield, he encountered a beast he soon learned to be the "Tigerex" which roared and attacked him. The attack threw his balance, and he fell down the mountain side, only to be found and saved by a retired hunter form Pokke. As thanks, Zell begrudgingly stayed at Pokke in order to assist the towns people in order to repay their kindness. He found himself at the expense, killing monsters left and right without mercy. Giadrome, Kut-Ku, Khezu, Yien Garuga.... none fo them were spared the killing spree of the hunter. His blade was bloodied enough when he came time to fight his old nemesis. The Tigrex whom derailed him from his destiny.

The Battle was long, and difficult to be sure, though it was in the end a defeat for Zell. No, be assured the creature was defeated and killed, but it was Zell who truly died. He killed the beast, but it opened his eyes to a degree. It was a kill without reward. He murdered the beast for pleasure, and for revenge...but once he aleviated that revenge that burned so hot within him the only thing he felt was cold. The frigid, chilled cold of a frozen and hardned heart. Zell left the foul beast to be brought to the village by the Felines, but he himself went into seclusion. He felt as though he could feel his father's gaze upon him, disapproving of what he had become...but Zell knew it was foolish...the only one who disapproved of Zell, was Zell himself. He was a hunter...he was accomplished...but he was defeated by his own worste enemy. Himself. Perhaps it was a wake-up call... perhaps Divine Intervention. All he knew, was that he was wrong. Vengence and murder served no purpose, they were but means to an ends, and no matter the reasoning the end he was following was an evil and twisted one...even if the genocide was only monsters. After a month in seclusion, Zell returned, stepping from the house in which he stayed, and smilefd widely as he walked past, talking to the children and finally answering the questions children and citizens had.

Zell emerged reborn, on the correct path. He knew now, by the nature of his birth he was the sword which drove back and vanquished the monsters... but through his father he was raised to hold a shiled beside him, and so he would slay no monster that was of no threat. He would fight many beasts, drive them back and eventually elimnate them if they were a recurring problem, but never did he murder gladly. Not even on the day he was called to "The Ancient Tower". He would go, knowing only that he could not truly be at peace until he fought the beast who killed his paretns and so many others. First the battle of Castle Schrade where the Black Fatalis fell to him, then thre volcanic belt where he faced Akantor, and later the Crimson Fatalis. But it all led to the goal of The Ancient Tower. The Ancestor Dragon, The White Fatalis. The battles were long, and there were many of them. Zell followed the beat through the lands, through Pokke, through Kokoto, and then eventualy back to Pokke's Ancient Tower once more. The creature and his battles had taken their toll on both of them, but eventually the Celestial Dragon would fall in defeat as Zell had bested it for the final time. The White Fatalis had lost it's eye in their many battles, but all in all it remained reletively intact. Zell had the creature bested and when he did...

   ...He chose mercy.

The Powers

Preperation:(8 intellect) The most valuable lesson a monster hunter can learn, preparation is the difference between returning home with the spoils of a great hunt and not returning home at all. A hunter is only as good as his weapon and when that is not enough you have to know what to fall back on. When he knows the target in question there is little chance for their survival. When the situation is unknown, he knows what basic items he'll need for his own survival. Suffice it to say Thorgron is never caught completely unprepared. Zell is also a smart individual that processes informationm, recognizes paterns and develops stratagem faster than others. He is also known to be quite the tinkerer.

The Way of the Monster:(8 Fighting Skills) The Fighting skills of a Monster are within him, his studies and experiences have made him more effective a hunter than many of his peers. It would take several instructors to even land a hit on him, and even some of themost nimble and quick monsters cannot reach him, or cannot escape his reach! He is a master of not only human tactics and fighting styles, but a master of animal fighitng skills and tactics. Like a monster, he has conditioned himself to react and defend himself without forethought. He is a master of near every Hunter tool, save for the Gun-Lance he forsook after he lost it in his first meeting with Tigerex.

Hero's Heart:(4 Strength, 5 Speed, 5 Durability) The Strength of two men, and the speed of a monster but the body, the heart and the resolve of a Hero. Able to move up to 100 miles per hour. His body is greater than most people, bullets and knives to little if no damage and his stamina is greater than many would anticipate, as well as an advanced auto-immune system that purges many (lower) toxins and posions... except for the food poisoning the Felines make... that'd kill anybody.
