The Legacy

Personality: Helena is a confident, sometimes even cocky young woman who sees humans as a remarkable species, yet still one step below her species. She has a domineering presence, but that's a given due to her size and musculature in comparison to human women and even most men. She is very much a take charge alpha female type that doesn't take crap from anybody. Needless to say, she isn't shy. Despite this side of her, underneath it all is a very compassionate woman. She can not stand to see someone suffer in any form, be it physically, mentally, or emotionally unless that person has made a transgression against someone and deserve sufferage of some sort, which she will administer upon them. Fiercely loyal is another personality trait that could describe her to a tee. Although humans are not as grand as her people, she is loyal to the race due to her oath to protect them and for how amazing a species they are. There's certain aspects of the human race that she wishes her people could have had during their days of prime. In short, she does have kind of a saviour complex.

History: Helena Ring is a very humanoid looking extraterresital being, born on a planet called Anarku, several light years away from earth, and very much advanced in comparison to earth. Her birthname is Atropos. Her planet is 50% larger than Earth, yet she, at large size in a human's eyes, is rather small in comparison to her peers across the galaxy. Growing up on her planet was a lot different than what a human had to go through. Where there has always been great struggle between social class, color of skin, lack of money, lack of food, and corruption at the highest level, her civilization never had to worry about that. Peace has always been paramount, though they trained for war just in case. Nobody was ever in need.

Her people have always been more inclined for adventure and to reach out to other cultures across the galaxies. This has taken time and failures. Even at times peace has failed when in contact with cultures that valued conquest over diplomacy and good will. And when those times have come, they handled business "like a boss". In fact, it was during the after math of one such altercation that her father, commander of a fleet, came upon the Nephilim rock. He took a piece of it with him, having heard of the power it possessed. For the longest time it sat upon a head plate in his den, the old man having long lost interest in cracking the mystery of the rock after so many failed attempts. Having gave up on it, he decided to place it into a ring and give to his darling little Atropos for her 13th nameday, which was about one year after the death of his wife, her mother. She was overjoyed at the gift. It was beautiful just like her mum.

Over time she started to feel stronger. Her small frame started getting bigger. And the ring started to glow a bright red in spurts. During these times, she felt her body explode with surges of power. Finally she put these things to the test and found that she could do extraordinary feats of strength when surging, far beyond anything anybody on her planet could do. Her father was amazed and tried many times to remove the ring from her finger so he could test it for himself, but all attempts failed. The ring, over time, had basically bonded to Atropos, melded into her finger as if to become part of her as the very bone and skin that adorned her. What he did find out, is that it surged when Atropos thought about it, any aspect of it, even just the simple thought of the sheer beauty of the bright red rock. It didn't take him long to figure out there was a mental link to it that acted as sort of a trigger for it, so he pressed her and trained her to focus on it mentally, and as he suspected her skill with it increased.

Fearing what might come of her if others found out, he decided to enroll her in an adventurers program, which in comparative terms is like a trip to a far away place to study for a while. The place he chose was Earth, a nice sized rock with comparable surface temperatures and genetic make up. Thinking it was more of a trip than her dad being totally paranoid, Atropos went along with it happily but nervously. He shipped her off and gave her the contact info of those of her kind already visiting earth. When she arrived, however, she found herself in the midst of America, a place in chaos and destruction. Her vessel absorbed some sort of blow and was rendered crashed and irreparable. It wasn't long before she had to bring her Ring of Strength into play as she fought out a large group of scavengers.

From there it was hard living for a time. There were times when she wanted to just die. But over time these humans showed their indomitable spirit, and rose to the challenge. Heroes with amazing abilities far beyond her own emerged. Villians rose to. Emboldened by the human spirit and swearing to protect them, she joined into the battle and helped when she could. Over time things settled, and her time now is spent posing as a fitness guru for a gym, whilst moonlighting against bad guys with low level powers or regular bad guy humans when necessary. You know, like a vigilante.

The Powers and Weaknesses

(All characters can be as powerful as they want, as long as they are balanced with proper weaknesses.)
Powers

Power 1: Super Strength. Although already stronger than most men and women in her regular form, when she activates the Ring of Strength her power increases 50 fold. When in this form she can bench press and hurl a Buick if she wanted to, for example. When she activates it, her already impressive muscles ripple and bulge without her needing to flex. Her body fills with surges of power and adrenaline.

Power 2: Increased Pain Threshold: When in Power mode, she adrenaline is so closely matched with her surge strength, that it reduces her receptors of pain. For example, if you clobber with in the head with a brick while in this state, you will likely just piss her off.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: The Ring of Strength is melded onto her finger. It is nearly impossible to remove by prying or pulling. Since activating her Ring of Strength requires a mental and physical link at the same time, this leaves her vulnerable to mental mind control or other mental related traumas. In a way she kinda "hulks out" but still retains some of her mental capacity, just not all of it. Furthermore, while in this state, the Ring of Strength can be compromised and/or rendered utterly useless by some of the following examples:

A. Magical means, such as spells like Heat Metal, Chill Metal, Soften Stone, Soften Metal, Sever Stone, Sever Metal, Mind Control (getting into her mind and commanding she stop using the ring), Darkness (to snuff out the radiance of the ring's stone, which in turn reduces its effectiveness but doesn't totally render it useless), and other arcane means which is up to your imagination.

B. The ring could be severed from her by cutting off her finger, or the rock could be shattered with a strong enough blow to it with a blunt object or even shot off by a bullet. Covering it with something (like a glove, cloth, or your hand) dampers its effectiveness but doesn't render it totally useless.

C. Power nullification manacles (handcuffs) do work against this power, but you'd have to be ballsy enough to try to wrestle her into them. *wink wink*

All that aside, the duration of her power isn't infinite. It is entirely situational. The longest she has had it running at full force is 10 minutes, and that was against a normal human being whom she considered threatening enough to warrant its activation. When she reached that 10 minute mark she passed out as she delivered the victorious blow to her foe, and wound up waking up next to his comatose body 15 minutes later. Had her foe been strong enough to continue, she would have been defeated and probably killed. Needless to say, the duration would be shorter against stronger foes or multiple attackers, but once again that depends on the situation.

Weakness 2: Since her adrenaline is tremendously keyed up to match her power, when she finally ends her use to the power, she is greatly fatigued. She also can suffer severe damage, such as gun shots to vital areas while in this power. When her use of this ends, she incurs, albeit delayed, some ofthe effects of whatever damage she took during the battle in which she did not feel at the time. For example, if she is in full power mode and you run her over with a car, she will likely get pissed, rip the door off, and beat you over the head with it. However, when she comes off of her power mode, a wave of unbearable pain will hit her and cause her much suffering, but not as much as what the initial damage would have been.

I don't quite understand the second part of the first weakness. Could you please explain to me, in as few words as possible, what it means?
