Marcus is a cool, charismatic character above all else. Every time he has taken the MBTI, he is classified as an ENTP. This means that he has excellent people skills, as he is an extrovert and also very intuitive. Marcus is more rational than emotional, leading to level-headed decisions, but at the expense of empathy. He is very open-minded and adaptable, and willing to change his plan at the last second. He is a very cool customer and not easily rattled. He also is quick, probably a little too quick, to jump on a new idea.

As a lawyer, he loves the thrill of the case, from investigation to trial. He has the highest trial victory rate of his age group. This is probably because he is a genuinely dynamic, funny person, who can connect with jurors on an intuitive level. He believes that anyone, no matter how guilty deserves the best defense possible. He enjoys the intellectual challenge of looking for and exploiting loopholes in the laws, and is not above taking on a case pro bono if it sounds fun. He specializes in cases involving superhumans.

Marcus Hamilton was born to a moderately wealthy American family. Family legend says that they are related to Alexander Hamilton, but no one knows for sure. He was born to a seemingly normal family and is not aware that his parents were carriers of the Meta gene.

 Marcus was always a bookish child rather than an athletic one, and could always be found with reading material of some sort in his hand. The subject didn't matter; he was interested in everything. However L, the superhumans always captured his attention the most.
 His teachers always said that he was a bright child, as he learned far quicker than any of his peers. He was placed in gifted classes in second grade and remained in gifted/honors programs until college. He always liked to learn, but surprisingly hated classes, because the long sessions bored him.

 Marcus graduated as the valedictorian of a class of 231. He then went on to the state university before transferring to Harvard Law School. While he was there, he took an interest in criminal law, but was particularly attracted to cases dealing with superhumans. He passed the bar exams and quickly moved into private practice. He regularly defends minor supervillians, renegades, and superheroes who have acquired some criminal charges.

Kinetic absorption: Whenever something hits him with a good deal of kinetic energy, his body can safely absorb that energy and turn it into stored potential energy, effectively stopping the force in its tracks. This power has no upper limit. (The object can be traveling at any speed.)

Kinetic charging: The excess energy absorbed from an impact can be reinfused into the same or another object with minimal loss. For example, if he caught a bullet and absorbed its energy, he could throw it back almost as fast.

Kinetic blasts: If he chooses not to infuse the excess energy into an object, he can fire it out of his palms in invisible concussive blasts. These blasts will not explode, burn, or pierce anything, they are just the equivalent of a long distance shove. They do not work on energy or any non-physical object.

Increased cell potential energy capacity: Basically his body's cells can store more energy than normal. This means it takes higher voltage, higher setting on an energy weapon, etc. to damage him. This does not apply to magical energy unless the magic produces an earthly energy (electricity, etc.).

Superhuman reflexes: Marcus can reflexively catch bullets, dodge objects and attacks, etc. However, this is not perfect, and he can still be hit.


Kinetic lower limit: Marcus can only absorb energy from something moving about as fast as or faster than the average punch. This means he can be pierced, sliced, etc. just like a normal human.

Invisible kinetic blasts: If Marcus blasts something, he can't tell if he hit it unless it moves.

Higher energy damage: Because his cells can store more energy than usual, when he is electrocuted, blasted, etc., these energies do more damage than to a normal human.

Reflex limitations: Marcus cannot consciously act as fast as his reflexes would allow. It is only automatic. Also, if his reflexes cannot sense an attack coming, it will do damage (if he is sleeping, has his eyes closed, is attacked by a ninja, etc.)

Busy Schedule: Marcus is a defense attorney with a full trial calendar. He doesn't really have time for traditional superheroing.

No particular combat training: Exactly what it says on the tin.

Power unawareness: Marcus starts out unaware that he has superpowers at all, let alone being aware of their limits/capabilities

Charge time limit: Marcus can only hold an excess potential energy charge for about 1 minute. After that, the excess energy dissipates without any effect.

Kinetic blast/charge size: Marcus has the choice to blast/charge with one or two hands, but he must use all the excess energy at once.

 Marcus Hamilton shuffled papers around on his desk. Sometimes, office work was neccesary, but it was rarely exciting. He preferred either to be out on the street, tracking down witnesses, or in the courtroom presenting his case. Office work? Decidedly not his thing.

 The office phone rang, and Marcus let Ms. Turner pick it up as he tried to unlink the paper clips he'd chained together earlier this morning. He'd suddenly realized that if he needed one in a hurry, he would be in a potentially embarrassing spot.

 The intercom on the phone beeped. It was Ms. Turner. "Marc, Detective Ben Kirby on line 1 from San Isidro. He says one of his latest superhuman-related pickups has asked for you as an attorney."

"Who's the potential client? Marcus asked, pulling up his calendar on his  monitor.

 "Jack Foxx"

 Instantly, Marcus knew that this was going to be either the easiest or toughest client he had ever represented.
