Finding the Unknown Creator

Post by Dark Phazer on August 2nd 2015, 2:43 am

Everything about my personal self was unknown. But this was going to change within the next few days, weeks, months, however long it took. Well I hoped it would. I had been been pushed to the brink, I could not go on any longer without knowing at least a snippet about myself.

Information had got out. Information that was all about me needing people to help find the information that was so vital to me. People that had hired me had helped spread the news. Realistically I did not believe anyone of use would turn up, the greatest I hoped for was some Private Investigator who half knew what he was talking about. For the first time I could remember I was wanting to work with someone. Maybe finding about myself scared me and I didn’t want to go through this alone or maybe I knew I seriously needed help for the task at hand. I had dreamed about some absolute legends coming to help me. Engineered humans just like me, we were unstoppable finding information before it existed, killing people before they needed to be killed. If only I had my own secret gene haha, I would make just that one wish. I would rather go on an epic journey with lots of murder and close calls before finding out about myself than just instantly know, all I had was adventure. Everything I did was just to enjoy myself more, I didn’t really care about others. But hey maybe someday I would, but don’t get me wrong I wasn’t holding out for that day.

Hands gripped on an expensive steering wheel of an expensive car. Spoils from some corrupt someone and obviously he was crazy rich. The bright lights of the insane party city shone down on my set of wheels. Tall buildings rose high above me, huge streets littered with taxis kept me penned in. You knew where I was.  Sin City. The capital of parties, casinos and mistakes. Sin City was the perfect name for such a city, more immoral acts were probably committed here in one night than the rest of the U.S committed in a year. But with that being said I loved this place even if I had a substantial amount of regrets built up from this place. Way too much money had been lost gambling too hard, women I had slept with who ended up being crazy or worse crazy metahumans. YetI had a lot more memorable memories for good reasons than bad ones. But I wouldn’t be heading towards those epic destinations where the fun could really get started, no I was heading to a  seedier part of the city, somewhere where drug deals were frequent and violence was just a way of living.

Here was my rendezvous point where, I begged to the gods, that someone of even the tiniest bit of worth would show up. Turning the steering wheel quickly the Bugatti screeched on the moist tarmac, drifting through the last corner. I parked the car messily then stepped out into the fresh air, rundown buildings all around me grey and drab like the weather. Inhaling the air, I sucked in through my stomach a deep gulp. Exhaling quickly I expelled as much air as I could a polar opposite of what I had just done. The air here wasn’t fresh but filled with fumes and was stagnant, breathing this air was probably worse than any drug I had ever done. Scuffing my feet I headed towards the bus stop that had long since been abandoned, probably something to do with damage to buses knowing this neighbourhood. I stood not bothering about sitting on the destroyed waiting chair trying to keep warm, the moist air chilling me to the bone. Wearing a t-shirt with a comic icon on it with only my fav red leather jacket over top probably didn’t help the cause. Although my legs were quite warm kept snug in my grey pair of fat pants. I debated hopping back in the car, I could but what if someone saw no one waiting here from a distance and left, that would royally suck.

Hearing a pained scream I grimaced, a high pitched female scream. Them heroes better get to work or she was going to have a crap night, wasn’t my obligation. Damn, the superhero life seemed so hard, I was glad I did what I wanted. No rules, no restrictions.
“Now I wait haha”, I said to myself, hopefully it wasn’t for too long.

Re: Finding the Unknown Creator

Post by Zell on August 5th 2015, 10:09 pm

"You're seriously going to go through with this? Going all the way to the middle of nowhere to help some vague person find out information?" Ink asked, particularly surprised by Gravity Man's random seemingly selfless action. He was leaving the city he knew, the city he virtually ruled. Leaving Pittsburgh was a slight ordeal for him in truth. Anxiety, a cluster- no a maelstrom of emotions played at his chest. He hasn't done anything like this in a long time. The last time he did was when he saved Jared from The Agency. That was a total nightmare. Hopefully The Agency had noting to do with this, otherwise the skies would rain red with the blood of the enemies of Gravitas. Excessive? Perhaps...but there was a reason Pittsburgh (and Indianapolis) virtually belonged to him. He was ruthless. A monster. he accepted this.

"Gray stop fucking touching me!" Inferno snapped as he turned the corner his hair igniting into fire as the most youthful appearing general cackled and shot back with a taunting laughter. Gravity Man stepped between his generals' pushing Inferno's shoulder and moving him aside as he made his way down the hall, taking gray by the ear as he walked, Ink still treading behind him in her standard gear. "Serves you right faggot!" Inferno called before calming himself down, his hair no longer blazing as black locks fell against his forehead. Gray on the other hand was letting out little "ow!" and whimpers at a rapid fire as Gravity Man pulled him the entire hallway.

"owowowowowowowo please lemmiegolemmiggo pleasepleasei'llstopiswearowowoow!" Finally Gravity Man released him as he tugged, slinging Gray around and sending him right into the standard black Cadillac he took. Gray began to rub his ear with a pained look on his face while Ink scoffed. Gravity Man turned to look at her and chuckled. She could only shake her head. This was one of the few times she actually appreciated her boss and his stubbornness. "I'm sorry, please don't feed me to Poltergeist!"

"Oh please do." She said with a scoff, Xerox looking at her, pouting a little as he looked to Gravitas.

"I'm not feeding anyone to Poltergeist...yet." Gravity Man said, it seemed almost on cue that when he said the creature's name the cadilla made a rocking motion with the sound of the metal carriage squeaking and a monstrous growl came from overhead, saliva dropping over the side of the vehicle. "Gray, you and I are going to help someone. Poltergeist. Eat whomever Ink says-Gra-EXCEPT Gray..." He said with a sigh, Ink rolling her eyes as Gray opened the Cadillac door and barreling in as if his life depended on it. Which was pretty smart. Gravity Man didn't take long to follow behind him, giving specific instructions to his second in command before instructing the driver to take them to their location.

Gravity Man sat himself in the car and then seemed to move back a surprising distance before settling in his seat. The car itself looked quite mundane and small, however when one stepped foot into the car they quickly found themselves in what was like that of an upscale limousine. The car utilized sub-space thanks to the extensive work of a metahuman that escaped the New York assault. His talents and metagene were specifically geared around working and utilizing sub-paces in vehicles. He may never have known the spotlight, but he was certainly a secret to Gravitas' success and overall comfort. The bar present was also a nice little feature, one that Xerox immediately took to. Gravity man could literally feel his gravity shifting through the motor vehicle.

"Are you even old enough to drink?"
"Shu-I uhm. Y-yeah I'm older than you!" Gray said as Gravity Man chuckled to himself, causing his general to scowl a little before mixing himself a drink. "Want one boss? Three hour car ride ahead." He said very matter of fact and almost friendly enough to come off as trying to convince him. Gravitas didn't need convinced though.

"Yes. The usual." He said as he closed his eyes. Grey put his mind to work as he tried to recall what exactly Ink always did when he said "the ususal". He didn't want to sound like he was whining or complaining so he just did his best. Sadly Ink was the ex-bartender. Gray was just a professional soccer player. "Death in the afternoon" was the name of the yellowish green drink as he handed it over.

By time they pulled up and arrived at the predestinated meeting area the only one there was an individual that seemed to stand there. Gravitas stepped out of the car, Xerox right behind him as they heard a scream. Gravitas held out a finger to the man he was apparently supposed to be meeting as his gravity sense echoed out. He pin-pointed the location of the scream and clenched his fist. In that instant the woman's attacked went form human sized to the size of the tip of a freshly sharpened pencil as the force of gravity causes him to implode to an impossibly small form. When Gravitas released him his blood splattered everywhere, making a mess of the situation and likely scarring the woman. Hey, Gravity Man wasn't a hero himself, and it showed by an entirely different screaming te woman did as she ran away.

"Your doing boss?" Gray asked, the question mostly rhetorical as he smirked, almost proud of Gravitas taking time out of his day to save someone...even if he did scar them horrifically. Gravity man sighed and finally took the time to approach the man, his hood still perfectly covering his face.

"..."The Dark Phazer" I presume?" Gravitas asked, trying to ensure he had the correct man.

Re: Finding the Unknown Creator

Post by Alpha on August 5th 2015, 10:14 pm

Information, Alpha always found that to be an interesting thing to have. Information alone was not power but how one used the information, now that was where the true power came from. So information was something that he always wanted to be sure he had in spades, and that was how he came across the information that had been sent out by a certain artificially created human, though whether they knew how he was made mattered little. For one reason or another they were looking for those much like themselves, why was another question entirely. Perhaps they were curious or perhaps Alpha was curious, it was one of the two. So with all of this in mind, well he would have to go out to actually see what all of this was about. Omega was somewhat curious about it, but he had less of an interest within it than Alpha did, though his interest was even less than Alpha's which was minimal.

”I can't quite tell if you're doing this because you're bored or something else.” Chris noted slightly curious, looking to Travis with a raised brow, though all he did was respond with a small smirk.

”You'll just have to find out.” He responded with a shrug as the vehicle itself would move slowly through the streets. The person in question was sitting upon an abandoned bus bench, looking rather plain. Likely they would be caught offguard by the sleek vehicle driving before him, and the man dressed in all black, with black jeans, a black shirt and black leather jacket over that. Their features obscured by a simple black mask that allowed strange grey eyes to peer through the slits. It appeared that someone else was there as well, making this interesting. ”Looks like i'm not the only one who decided to come all of the way out here.” Alpha noted through a filtered mask, recognizing the cloak and person within it, but saying nothing.

Re: Finding the Unknown Creator

Post by Pain on August 6th 2015, 2:59 pm

Spoiler:
I began writing my post before your replies, so I am saving a different woman than the one mentioned I suppose. I feel I made it work in my post.

A high pitched cry for help rang through his ears, it belonged to a young woman. Her wails echoed through the alleyways, but were left unanswered. No one was coming to her aid, she was alone and outnumbered. Thanks to his super hearing, their scuffle was clear and audible from the high rooftops he stood upon. Two men were attacking her, they dragged her further into the darkness of the alley and began to strip away her clothing. He could hear it all, even the slight metal clanking from their handguns and switch blades. Their disgusting voices, making threats and demands that made even his skin crawl.

Enough.

Pain leaped from the rooftop, soaring far across the city towards the young woman in need. In seconds he arrived, plummeting into the alley before them. His descent created a small shock wave, blowing into the group like a powerful gust of wind and rattling the dumpsters that surrounded them. The two men stopped their actions dead and fell to their knees, looking onto Pain with complete bewilderment. The woman scurried away in this moment, pressing her back against the alley wall as she wiped the blood from her lips and fixed herself.

With nostrils in a twitching flare, Pain spoke with a deep distraught. "Fitting choice of scenery." The grimaced look clung to his face, anger seething through him silently.  Despite this, he stood perfectly calm as he cracked his knuckles before his chest.

"Wha-Wha-what are you gonna' do to us?" One of the men asked, both still on their knees in shock. They seemed paralyzed with fear, sweat dripping down their faces as the horror spread through their skin.

"Nothing worse than you've done to others." Pain threatened as he lowered his gaze directly at them. In the blink of an eye he closed the tiny gap between them and lifted both men from the floor by their throats. One in each hand, he began to pry into their minds. After seeing their past, all the horrors the two had committed, his decision was clear. He began to make them experience their own vicious crimes, everything all at once flooded into their brains. They cried out in excruciating agony, barely able to form words. Pleas and cries for him to stop were ignored, all the while the young woman watched on in horror.

"Stop! Please!" The young woman tearfully cried out. Immediately, Pain released the two who fell to the floor lifelessly. They were still breathing, still alive, but their minds were shattered. It would take them a long time to recover, but they would live and forever remember what had transpired this night.

Pain walked past their bodies and towards the young woman who still hadn't found the strength to stand. He extended his hand to her, and with the most genuine smile he could muster up tried to reassure her. "It's okay." He said softly. "I won't hurt you." Oddly his words seemed to have some effect, she took his hand and pulled herself up. Though she was clearly terrified of him, she forced out a thank you. Pain saw this and turned away without another word, very much used to seeing that expression. As he began to exit the alley, she called out to him. "Wait! Who are you?!"

"They used to call me Pain." He turned to look over his shoulder. "But you can call me Brock if you'd like." He said with a smirk just before rocketing off into the sky.

~~~
Hovering high above the city, he began to search where he would be needed next. He closed his eyes and focused, tuning heavily into his super hearing. He overheard several potential threats and crimes, but what stuck out most was hearing a man be unnaturally crushed. A horrified scream from a woman immediately followed. Though it was unclear exactly what happened, two things were certain. A man was dead, and no ordinary weaponry was involved.
Pain blasted off towards the sounds to investigate, though he would arrive to see nothing but blood splattered upon the floor. Hovering above the crime scene, he listened out for a lead. Three voices, all male. They were meeting very close by, and judging by the context of their conversation they were his best bet. Besides, most normal people don't give themselves titles like 'Dark Phazer'.
Without warning he plummeted before the three by the old bus bench, creating a similar shock wave effect from earlier. The strong gusts would fill the nearby streets for a brief moment. Once it cleared, the tall bearded man immediately began to question the suspicious trio.
"Just who are you three?" Questioned the brawny figure. He adorned his assault armor, crafted by the original Black Knight himself. Resembling old roman steel, his sleeveless chest piece wore a tattered and bruised grey. The shield symbol that once rested in the center of his chest, now completely faded and scratched away. His leggings and boots were armored as well, but wore a darker sleeker color. They shared a similar tattered look.
"And why do you reek of blood?" Pain boldly questioned, a fierce expression clinging to his face as he stared down Gravitas. His suspicions seemed true, he immediately did not trust this man. Though he may be walking into the lions den by challenging these three with questions, there was no fear in him. Determination burned in his icy blue eyes.
Re: Finding the Unknown Creator
Post by Dark Phazer on August 16th 2015, 2:08 am
Part of my wish was granted, I didn't have to wait for long but the man who turned up looked like a complete wacko. A dark cloak covering his body, his face unseen by my eyes.
"The Dark Phazer I presume", the man uttered through his cowl.
Should I say no and let this man move on. I really didn't like working with freaks, but what if this dude was going to be the only person to turn up.
"Umm, yep thats me", uncertainty in my voice most likely evident.
Why didn't I just decide to figure this out by myself, I was good at that. But you never know this dude might turn out to be a total bro.
"So..what should I call you? I'm stoked at least one person could turn up", I said with a chuckle trying to break the ice, it seemed like it would be pretty thick.
Sleek and sexy a car pulled up close to where I was with my new found buddy. Well I hoped he was my buddy. Either the car belonged to someone coming to join me, or a rich gangster coming to fuck shit up. Out of the car stepped more black. Was this some kind of new sexy trend I hadn't hear about?
"Hey..umm..bro, you come to see the Dark Phazer?", hope in my heart. Honestly this dude look like a total badass, his face covered in a dark mask , eye slits visible showing grey eyes.
"Maybe I should have worn black too, we could have been the Black Badasses!", I hoped for a laugh, some more ice breaking.
Jumping back in fright I began the change of density to my body, why did people have to ruin everything. This night was actually  going better than expected. I stumbled back the shockwave giving off power, this dude was freaking powerful. That's when I noticed. Could it be like one of the most powerful meta humans ever...Pain.
"Just who are you three? And why do you reek of blood?"
I didn't notice the fierceness shown to me by Pain, I now was just fan boying super hard, "Holy fuck Pain dude! You are my hero! I'm Dark Phazer and you maybe can smell blood on me cause I kill a shit ton of people! Do you wanna join our super epic team of the Black Badasses to go find out about my history and have a good time in general?!".
The effect Pain had on me was like some super weird drug, that I had done a few years ago.
"Why don't we go have a boys night out in Vegas before we go fuck shit up, you guys in?", I had probably just put everyone off of doing anything with me. I was acting like a child on Christmas.
