The Legacy

Personality: Vesa has always been one to fight on his own terms, and this carries on to his personality. He has a strict moral code that he follows, and understands who not to piss off, but aside from that, he does what he wants, how he wants, when he wants. He knows he can't do everything, and save everyone, so he does what he can, and trusts that others are doing the same. And besides, he's a rare breed of Metahumans; a healer, and has a top tier offensive power to top it off too. He can afford to play by his own rules when all everyone wants is for him to be their ally. Tl;dr, Vesa is a smug calculating bastard with a rather large view of himself, and the worst part is that he's probably right.

History:

They say that the meta-gene can be passed down from parent to child. I don't know if it was true or not, but my parents were metas, and so am I, so there must be some truth to it, right? Or maybe I just got lucky, or unlucky if you'd like to look at it that way, I personally haven't. My parents though, as I said before, they were metas, and not weak ones at that. My mum had power cancelling and some super strength, and my dad had a variety of powers that could be used one at a time. They were sought after by various different factions even from a young age, so they decided to go down the mercenary route. They didn't care who hired them or why, but they did care about the jobs themselves. They had a strict morale code, and somewhere in it they weren't allowed to take jobs that would directly harm the heroes.

They were a success, they had money, a dash of fame in the media, a lot of fame in the underworld, and they had each other. It took a while, but they eventually admitted their feelings and married. The media loved it of course. I was their child, and from the moment I was born, they knew I was going to be trouble. The fact that one of my dads powers was a sort of precognitive danger sense helped in realising that. I was what an outsider would call the perfect baby: I didn't cry often, and I didn't throw tantrums, but people who knew me well knew that I was the worst kind of child. I was determined to get things my way, and a lack of crying just turned me into a stealth baby. My parents got a lot of funny stories out of that one. And a lot of embarrassing ones too. The years past, and I learned to walk, and to talk, and all the other things that children learn. My parents noticed that I had started to heal a lot faster then I should have, and instantly knew that I would have powers. They were both overjoyed and dismayed, but most of all, determined to find out the instant they became dangerous. They watched me carefully, and made sure that I knew what powers were, and that mummy and daddy had powers too, and if I started to do anything strange, to tell mummy and daddy straight away. As it turned out, I didn't need to, it was kind of hard not to notice when I started screaming in agony at seven years of age.

Hemokinesis is a rare power, and can be compared to the energy projection powers. Like energy projection, you have a solid mass that can be manipulated to form any shapes, the only restriction being your imagination. In some ways, hemokinesis is better, since you can harden your blood to make yourself tougher, make your blood flow faster to increase your endurance, enhance your strength even. But the main disadvantage is also what makes it so strong. You're manipulating your own blood. And that blood is inside you, and in my case, tearing my insides apart. Even with my regeneration, my father had to use his own healing power before my mother turned off my power. After that, I stayed home from school for a month, whilst my parents taught me how to use my power. I learned how to just leave my blood be, and how to slow it, make it faster, make it form different shapes, and most importantly, how to get it out of my quickly and easily. I was scared to use my powers at first, because I effectively had to cut myself open to let the blood out, even if it was with my own blood. Painful stuff.

Still, I persisted, and it wasn't long till I was constantly practising my powers at home. My parents would refuse me knives and forks at dinner time, getting me to make my own, or placing my toys in places that I couldn't reach without using my powers. It became a game for us, though one my parents made clear I was not to play in public. School itself just became an inconvenient block of time wasted, though part of that may have been part of the fact that I was able to easily ace all of my work probably didn't help in that sense. High school was a bit more bearable, as work began to get challenging, and my parents started to let me join them in some of their smaller jobs. Always as a sideline healer of course. My father and I also started doing hospital runs, where he would pick his healing power, and take us to a hospital where we would administer healing to those who needed it.

As I have mentioned before, hemokinesis is a strong and rare power. Even though I had to be in contact with my blood, it was still an impressive power. It became a lot more impressive not long before my sixteenth birthday, when I killed for the first time. My parents had brought me out to one of their jobs, providing support for a raid on a local gang of supers. I hung back, ready to provide healing as usual, so we assumed I would be safe as normal. What we didn't know was that they had recruited a teleporter recently, and once the raid started, decided to take out the healers first. I screamed when he appeared right next to me, holding a knife in one hand, and grabbing my throat with the other. Before I knew what I was doing, I grabbed his wrist and took control of his blood, literally tearing him apart from the inside out. It was a terrifying experience, and I cried myself to sleep for weeks. Once again, my parents pulled me out of school for a month whilst I learned how this new aspect of my powers worked. My parents were both worried and happy, they both knew that this kind of power put me in the big league.

I wanted to start going on the offensive alongside my parents after that, but I had to wait till I was sixteen before I could. Once I started actually fighting alongside them, I discovered something. I was far stronger then I thought I was, but only if I fought right. Hemokinetics are a lot like energy projectors, and they fight like them too, constantly adapting, firmly countering how my opponent fought. If they were a close ranged combatant, I had to attack from a distance, and keep them away from me. If they were ranged attackers, well, I think you get the idea. I learned how to fight quickly, and became almost as famous as my parents. None of us were strong enough to deal with what came next though.

I still don't know how he was able to do it. Dads danger sense should have been able to alert him, but somehow it didn't, mum didn't even have a chance, her power blocking only had so much range. If they even had powers. The funeral was apparently miserable, but I never went there myself. I was busy making sure there wouldn't be any more funerals, making sure nobody else would have to learn that no matter how powerful you are, nobody can raise the dead.

I dropped out of school; I was almost finished, and I'd learned enough to get by in my choice of profession anyway. With that out of the way, I started to work full time, taking jobs left and right, not bothering to negotiate a fair price. If I could pay for food and clothing I had enough money. I slowly began to recover, but I never did, and I doubt I ever will, but at least I've learned to forget. I focused on my abilities, not who taught me to use them. I focused on my own fame, not the fame I'd inherited from my parents.

Oh well, nobody lives for ever in this world, but I know I'll live long enough to make my mark.

The Powers

Power 1: Blood Manipulation: Vesa has the ability to manipulate any blood he is in contact with, including his own. Contact is defined as within an inch of his own skin, assuming it is properly attached. This power extends through connected blood, though what is deemed connected is a little trickier. Any amount of blood that has been together for an extended period of time, seems to count as connected, and two amounts of blood both being affected by his power, when combined using his power, seems to count as connected. Two amounts of blood, and only one being manipulated by his power do not count as connected, and he is required to touch the second amount of blood before he can control it. This means he cannot instantaneously kill people by making small incisions with blood affected by his power. (Manipulating other characters blood will not be done without the owners permission.)

Power 2: Healing Blood: Vesa's own blood has a healing effect on any living thing in contact with it. This effect lasts a few seconds, making it far more effective to be circulated through the recipients system as opposed to simply being placed on the wound. The healing effect also extends to Vesa himself, and blood loss is considered an injury worth healing.
