Reminiscent of Failure. (Closed)

Post by Elena Vexus on June 12th 2014, 7:33 pm

As of recently, Vexus had been performing a handful of reconnaissance missions. First she had returned to New York City in order to retrieve some pieces of information that she had lost, and now it was time to return to the nation's capital. She had once staged quite an attack here, but did not emerge victorious. She was lucky enough to make it out with her life, but in the process she lost quite a lot. There would be no doubt that the authorities would have a tightly woven network around the city to make sure she never returned. This would have been completely pointless if they had decided to destroy what pieces of 'evidence' they had recovered from the battle field. Some of these things were now needed again by Elena, and there was more than likely no petty force of the military that would be able to stop her.
She was able to enter the city just fine. She looked completely different from that day so there was no need for any excess level of stealth. Elena had thrown together a tracking device to find her technologies. It was rather crude but it would at least allow her to find the establishment where they were being kept. If memory serves, authorities would have on record Elena's past forms including her more flamboyant pink haired self. In order to stir up some commotion, Vexus took the appearance of her previous pink haired form and went into a local shop just to buy a small item. There were security cameras which were no doubt being monitored by the authorities. The nice lady in the store complimented her hair and she was on her way. Casually munching on the bag of chips she had just bought she walked down the street very casually, already noticing that these officers were starting to organize themselves. They were beginning to mobilize, and she took off in a sprint. High heels and all.She turned at an intersection and when she was conveniently blocked from the street cameras she turned back into the little old lady that she was. The authorities were convinced that they lost her so they spread out to cover more ground. The whole city on high alert. Elena couldn't help but laugh, she would have to do this more often just for the sheer entertainment value.

Vexus' little technology sensor brought her to a location that she had not recognized from any map. She was outside of the city, but still in the Washington area. The grounds were not well kept and this building was literally falling apart. There was absolutely no way that it was structurally sound, but her sensor said that what she was looking for was located here. She entered the establishment with an eye roll, Vexus was kind of getting tired of these buildings that were falling apart. Elena continued to explore around the place, taking pictures of different things she found interesting. Soon she cam across a piece of floorboard that had been moved, and underneath there was most definitely a piece of metal. Something that did not belong, this metal was new and no where near the age of the building. More than likely there had to be some sort underground base here and just used this dangerous house as a cover. Seems a bit cliche, even for the government.
Seeing that it might be a government establishment they probably already knew that she had entered the building. Playing it safe, she left and walked away hoping to get anyone who might be watching her to think she was on her way out. Once out of range Vexus activated two of her items of jewelry. The first turned her invisible and the other allowed her to pass through solid object and be undetected by any of their sensors. Retuning to the scene she went back to the metal hatch and slipped down into this underground base. She found herself in a corridor but with no obvious direction. Her little tracking device was only good to find this location, but would not be able to pinpoint the technomatter any further. Vexus continued down the hallway cloaked from everyone and everything. It was come time before she found any sort of door that looked like it had any importance. She had her mechanical eye active and even with that she was not able to see through it. An impressive grade of metal no doubt, however she was still able to easily slip through the other side. However right after that the effects of her jewelry wore off and she 'existed' again.

There was a lot less of the substance than she had expected. It was just a small vile. Be though as it may, plenty more could be reproduced. The containment field around her prize was broken resulting in an alarm going off, typical. She placed the small item in her infinite clutch and casually began to walk towards the door. Still unsure of what was to be expected on the other side she gave the door a very generous thrust sending it barreling through the military might that planned on opposing her. Most all of them were knocked down and incapacitated for the time being. As she stepped over them she crumpled the barrels of their guns just in case they decided to get up. Any other sort of explosive that they had on them she confiscated and also threw into her clutch for future reference.
She could hear the radio chatter going on about how the intruder was unknown but they were going to shoot to kill. Vexus gave a smirk because anything less than that would have been insulting. This was going to be an interesting climb to the surface. It would be some time before she would be able to pass through solid objects. In the mean time, she surrounded herself with a telekinetic barrier preventing any of their bullets from getting near her at all. Confiscating a hand gun she began to use that to push them back, it was a narrow corridor and causing too much damage to its structure might bring the entire place down. In addition she did not want to reveal too many of her abilities  right now. The soldiers fell one by one, but it was taking far too long for her liking. There was no doubt that reinforcements of all kinds have already been called, and military leader would be able to tell it would take much more than just average soldiers to take this one down. In addition, the exits were more than likely sealed and there would be no way of escape. At least according to them. In Vexus' opinion though, she was planning on just walking out the front door.

The place that Ryan had chosen was not structurally sound, large cracks running along the facade and threatening to split the place apart. It was within this crumbling abode that a certain hydrokinetic had managed to land, curled up within what looked like the remains of a bedroom, extra large jacket pulled out over his knees and covering him much like a sleeping bag, resting upon a dusty bed. His dark brown hair was a mess, not oily but still shaggy, sticking out in some directions, what one would call bed head, and his neck looking a little dark with compound grime, mostly in areas that would be covered by his hood. He groaned in his sleep, clutching at his stomach which growled within his sleep, low and hollow as his eyes would begin to flutter open, hazel orbs peering out from between eyelids.

”Ehhhh, its too hot.” He muttered rolling within the bed that creaked a little louder than anticipated as he stood to his feet, still curled up within his hoodie and pulling himself out. Within that moment the rain would continue, a large cloud giving out a deluge of water in droplets that would fall upon the structure. His eyes would snap to the window, seeing the water flow down in droplets, blanketing this place with its cleansing moisture. Bare feet would tap against the wooden floor as the male rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, yawning loudly as he walked through the door that lead into a hallway, expecting to walk through the front door and then back to his wandering.

However what stopped him was the sound of something, an alarm that seemed to pierce the entire house, Ryan nearly leaping out of his skin, unaware of where all of the sound was coming from and mostly just confused as well as slightly scared. What the hell was happening? One minute he was in an abandoned house and now it was screaming at him, or someone else, he could not quite tell with the circumstance. Right now he only paused on a center step of a long stairway, considering his choices now.

The electronic door closed, and the well dressed young male exited the building. It had been a somewhat wearisome day of negotiating with the board of directors, none of which could decide upon most issues. Even though he appeared to be in his late teens, and was physically around a year old, it often felt as if he had to babysit the incompetent fools that held a position within his company. If Vegail had it his way, there would be no one other than he on the “Board”; however, the public frowned upon corporations ran by an individual only; probably a remnant of the despisal for monarchies and dictatorships.

He walked a few hundred feet until coming to a small coffee shop, one that catered to a certain higher clientele. It was one of Vegail’s favorite haunts in the nation’s capital, as they not only served amazing Italian  roast coffee, but also a blueberry muffin that gave off insane levels of dopamine and oxytocin upon consumption. They were handmade daily, and while the ingredients were all “organic”, with no artificially produced additives, they were not pompously proclaimed as such; the owner simply felt that was the way they should be made. The simplicity of the shop, along with the superb service and sustenance provided appealed to Michael.

It was while he was in the cafe that several alerts flashed in the wiring of his contact lenses, informing him of a security breach several miles from him, where the supervillain known as Elena Vexus was reported to have been seen, as well as an assault on a military structure that the general  public was unaware of. Vegail would much rather chase after the infamous villain (who he had a rather large amount of respect for, something that is he admitted in public would probably cause a mob to lynch him) than to investigate  the building. However, for two reasons he decided upon doing the latter, for the military compound had been on his radar for some time now, due to the nature of its work, and, more importantly, he reasoned that it was highly unlikely the two events were unrelated.

It would be rather bad for PR if he were to be seen using his telekinetic powers, and as such settled for a different form. This figure was one of his lesser used ones, someone he had seen on the street a few months ago, and had changed several of the features to better accommodate his anonymity.

As he approached the place of the incident, the weather began to worsen considerably, until it was raining rather hard overhead. Upon reaching the building, which was in a deplorable condition, he heard the horrible shrieking sound from within. It would be futile to simply knock, so Vegail went up to the door, turned the handle and strode inside.

Re: Reminiscent of Failure. (Closed)

Post by Elena Vexus on June 19th 2014, 1:42 am

Vexus was growing quite tired of the slow progress she was making and decided to hasten her front. She simply flicked her wrist about causing each and every one of the men's weapons to crumple at the barrel. Then, lifting her palm upwards all of the soldiers were hoisted up by what seemed to be nothing and pinned tightly against the wall on either side, as if parting a sea. With her small black clutch holding her acquired prize she casually walked in between the restrained men. Once she reached a junction, she released her telekinetic grip on them and they all hit the floor, some rubbing their throats as if they had been choked.
Unfortunately for Elena, her X-Ray vision was not helping in the least bit. The material in which they had constructed this base from seemed to prevent X-Ray's to work effectively. She was on her own to find her way out, and since she had cheated when entering and was not yet able to reactivate that item there would be no cheating in finding an exit. Vexus took a left, veered right, followed wires and the sounds but was having quite a bit of difficulty figuring out this labyrinth. Is this what age did to people? Made them directionally challenged? Not to mention low in stamina, all of the walking around she was doing trying to find a way out was very exhausting.

After an unnecessary amount of searching, Elena finally found a passage way that might lead her somewhere promising. Whoever was in control saw where she had reached, confirming her suspicions on the exit. Massive steel doors began to slam down in front of the exit moving closer and closer to her. Her eyes narrowed and she took out the grenades that she had confiscated earlier and threw them down the closing hallways. Elena waited patiently as the rest of the doors closed in front of he. There was a handful of very loud bangs indicating that the grenades did intact go off, though to her surprise a larger-than-average metal door slammed down behind her. Placing her hand on it she could just tell the density was far beyond what would normally have been expected from a 'trap door'. Could it have been that they were preparing for Vexus to return and this was their plan to hold her captive? It was an impressive door and would no doubt take some effort to dismantle, even with her current capabilities. So, she would work at what was before her.
Vexus began to attempt to crumple the large doors in front of her, but her progress was slow. She didn't think she would have been so tired from running around this maze that she would be unable to bend a simple metal door. Elena took some deep breaths and tried to calm her heart rate. While she tried to rest a bit, trapped between two metal doors, she focused on the weak wooden establishment above her. All it needed was a little tug and it would crumble to the ground. At least that way there would be no way for more troops to enter, at least from that port. She had enough trouble being old and tired, there was no desire to want to subdue more military personnel.  She took in one last deep breath, and exhaled. With that, the main supports of the house were knock clean out of the way and the house quickly collapsed in on itself. Once she escaped her steel prison, Elena would find no trouble in removing the debris of the house from the entrance and making a casual escape. Eventually everything will go according to plan. The plan that she's making up as she goes, of course...

Something would cause the house to shake, Ryan's eyes darting about worriedly as a sharp lance of pain darted through his lungs. A small amount of dust would fall from the ceiling, as the male continued the coughing fit for a few seconds, pulling his hand away and wiping the slightly blood spattered mucus onto his jeans. However things were not going well for the house as....it fell down, Ryan having little time to react as his body, as well as clothing would begin to convert into water, a bit of the roof falling onto it and sending the liquid scattering along with the rain. ”Wow, that does not happen everyday.” Ryan muttered irately as he began to reform, starting with his head and then the rest of his body, going from water to human once again. ”Last time I stay in old houses, they fall down too easily.” He muttered crossing arms over his chest and for a moment not noticing Vegail.

Within seconds debris was falling from the ceiling and walls, and a few moments later the house collapsed inward. With a closing of his fist (not necessary, but it is a cause of habit for him to use hand gestures for his powers) he solidified the air around himself, leaving no room for the falling detritus to reach him. After a period of approximately thirty seconds he opened his clenched hand, allowing the air to slowly dissipate, the debris that hadn’t already slid off the intangible shield doing so now.

He glanced about the area, watching as dust continued to fall in little spirals from the ceiling. He amused himself for a few seconds by making them twirl in the air, chasing each other, before another presence was noticed in the room. “Old houses  can be quite endearing. Until the hand of Satan comes knocking. I assume you did not do this then?”, he inquired.  Immediately after the words left his mouth, his vision began to show several red exclamation marks in the upper left corner of his eye; emergency responders from all across the city were headed to this location.

“Which leads me to wonder, what set of events led to you coming here?

She could hear more of this establishment's 'employees' heading towards her location. No doubt to take her into custody, or at least attempt to. Vexus made a fist and managed to crumple one of the metal doors in front of her like a piece of paper. She rolled her eyes wondering why she might have had difficulty before, calmly she continued forward continuing to crush the steel doors and walk through casually. After a handful of destroyed doors she finally reached the passageway back to the surface. With the doors she had removed, Elena took them and reconstructed one much heavier and much thicker wall. Reinforcements had just turned the corer to capture her as she placed the last slab of metal in place. It would be pretty difficult to get through that, which would give her plenty of time to get back above ground and teleport away to safety.
She started up the stairs, but her walking turned into a levitation until she reached the too. With a flick of her wrist she was able to break the locks on the exit and force the doors open sending the debris on top flying out in all directions. Vexus then casually emerged onto the surface and then swiped her palm over the now open entrance and sent all kinds of shrapnel down the stairway until there was no visible way to re-enter the base. She swiped her hands back and fourth against each other as if wiping dust off of them giving a little smirk thinking that her mission was complete.

Vexus turned preparing to exit the scene when her eyes met with a stranger. More than likely someone who responded to the alarms going on. Her own mechanical eye was not active at the moment, though when she turned around again there was another individual standing around the destroyed house. She could only assume because of the "difficult" material that this underground establishment was made of she was unable to detect these two people. She was in no way being subtle, so they would of course notice her there.
"Quite the fiasco going on down there... I was lucky to make it up here without breaking a nail..." she said in a slightly sarcastic tone. One of the two seemed to be wet, and the other had a very professional demeanor to him. Elena highly doubted that they arrived together. At this point Vexus had acquired what she came for and had arranged for an extraction. However if these two prove to be a nuisance she may need to utilize an alternative form of transportation.

The sound of a male voice within the falling rain caught his attention, turning to see a strange young male, one that he was not aware of before. He kicked a small brick that would skip along the rubble, until it stopped in place as he considered the male curiously. He did not cause such destruction, at least Ryan did not intentionally cause it, considering that he was kinda staying in the house for the night or two. Before he could answer the male, a female appeared, older with wrinkles lining her face and hair like fine faded straw. The young male raised an eyebrow confused by the newcomer and where she had come from, though he had a feeling that he was on an inopportune scenario. 'I didn't do this.” he answered to the male shivering lightly, though that was more of a reflex than an actual reaction to the cold. A sharp pain lanced through his chest as Ryan considered who this female was and how he would go from here.
