"The rise of computer crime and armed robbery has not eliminated the lure of caged cash." - James Chiles

3am.

Glendale, Los Angeles California.

Pitch had a wonderful dinner at a modest but delicious twenty four hour Korean tofu-house down the block. The kimchi was superb, most likely homemade. The soondubu jiggae, a soft tofu stew, was exquisite and had made the little eatery quite famous on Yelp. Pitch tipped quite well; good service and quality food should be rewarded. On the other hand, poor service and garbage food should rightfully be punished. With only so many hours in one's life, why would you want to spend it in a terrible eatery? After all, there were few things that could replace the finer, more enjoyable parts of life. Good food, a stroll at night and doing what one loves. And that's what brought Pitch here tonight, aside from delicious tofu. He stood in front of one of the many banks here in Glendale. This one just happened to be of the Bank of America variety.

What's annoying about modern day bank robbery is that if you try to do it at night, no doubt the entire place will be wired to go off like a siren. Tricky business, modern crime. Fortunately the crux of modern civilization is based upon the upkeep of the vulnerable and hilariously easy to disrupt power line that hovers above the heads of the sleepy inhabitants of the sprawl that is LA. And so, with a light and upbeat step, Pitch would meander over a block and a half to the nearest power pole. Removing his hand from his protective glove, Pitch lightly trails his fingers across the wood. The material softens, darkens and begins to rot beneath his touch. Not all the way. Just enough. Numbers and equations run through his mind, giving him a fixed point in time when this pole would fall. When the time came, he took his hand away and replaced the glove. A lovely jaunt back towards the bank.

About a minute later.

"Five...four...three...two...one..."

A snap, a crackle and a groan. The power line comes crashing violently down onto the street, causing electrical sparks to fly across the pavement as a power line snaps in half from the force of the pole's collision with the road. The power for a large section of these blocks have just been snuffed out. Including Mr. Bank. With a smile on his face, Pitch casually turns about and kicks in the door to the bank. It's shopping time.

Price of Evil ( Open ) Empty Re: Price of Evil ( Open )

Post by Dustin Waugh on February 27th 2013, 10:26 pm

As it had went from day to night it looked as if his day was ending, but the night was still young and he loved to party and go out. He just slept in the morning and worked at a metal factory for a living. it was decent work for him since he spent barley even half of what he got. It was about that time as he changed into something cleaner an threw his other clothes in a pantry basket. He grabbed his things ad headed out the door where he locked it behind him. He thought about going downtown tonight but changed his mind while he was walking.

As he turned the street he caught on that a transformer must have blown and knocked out all the lights in the area. He stopped at the point of the off lights and the powered ones and smiled. He continued to walk as he heard a loud crash and looking around on another street he could see someone walking on top of a kicked down door. Must be police he thought as he got closer. As he did the sign read 24/7 banking and he knew it was a robbery. He seen no get away cars so it must be either unplanned or meta.

As he ran closer he seen the pole that had looked as if it had rotten-ed straight through. As he got closer he now knew his point of interception. He could see the guy through a bullet proof glass window and he already knew where he was going for. He decided to jump in his way so he could spice things up a bit. He walked over to the wall and simply started to walk. The wall melted so quickly he was in the building in under a second. He walked to the center of the building and looked at the guy. Well I hope you did not plan to steal anything because if you were that would be rather hurtful to the people and their money.

He turned towards the guy and he had crossed his arms and then the temperature sky rocketed up. The floor's carpet burned in seconds and he was there standing on warped cement. The cement was going to give way but Dustin needed something to stand on. If his heat power grew any hotter he would sink everyone into the floor which was not necessary enough to beat the guy in front of him. He somewhat under stood his power from seeing the pole outside that had decayed and fallen over. He raised his hand pointing towards the guy and flexed his fingers simultaneously signalling for the guy to come and fight him. He was not going to let him touch the vault his own money was in there.

By the time the fire spewing man walked in, he would catch Pitch in the middle of plugging a laptop into one of the USB outlets near the computer tower nearest to the vault. His face distorted in confusion and he blinked a random set of times, body language fueling doubt and squashing suspicion about whether or not this was really a robbery. First of all, Pitch wasn't dressed like one. No mask, no weapons, nothing. He was in civilian clothing. He was none threatening. It looked as if Pitch took offense to the meta human being here more than anything else.

"Excuse me...sir, you can't be here right now."

Pitch continues to apply his tech skills to the computer. Obviously a part of the process was a portable, miniature battery to fuel the downed computer.

"In fact, I'm going to have to ask you to leave. The bank's servers were already on the brink of failure before this crazy power outage happened. I work here, sir, and I'm responsible for the maintenance of this branch's network for all wires and online transactions. Now if you're a customer here, I'm so very sorry, but fortunately I live in a condo just across the way next to the movie theater..."

With absolute unblinking verbal prowess, Pitch barely looks up from what he's doing as his gloved hands work across the keyboard.

"...Now thousands of customers might lose pending transactions because Bank of America isn't smart enough to upgrade their network mainframe for their online banking. Can you believe it? All the information is safe as can be UNLESS it's stuck in pending. Then you just hope that whatever server is processing that information right that second doesn't go down for whatever reason or the money that's pending can be lost. Can be. Unless I can get this to work. So please sir, if you will leave me to my business..."

If the burning man would walk over, all he'd see is a bunch of overly complicated bars and numbers on the screen.

"What I'm trying to say is that I'm attempting to save your money, sir. Come back tomorrow and I'm sure the bank will offer you something in compensation. Maybe you can get a CD account with a 3.5 percent growth rate over the course of nine months."

I'm sorry but I don't believe that chicken shit your spewing out for a second. When I seen the blacked out area I walked over this way and seen you kick down that door that was still in working condition. If anything you would have asked someone to come open it if you were what you say you are. As Dustin talked to the guy he sent a heat wave for his computer. The only thing you could see was the distorted air do to the rise of heat in it.

As he looked at the man trying to melt his computer without him knowing he said, now given what I saw I'm pretty sure even you could give a better lie. Now come over here and lets settle this matter. It will result in me kicking your ass or you spilling out why you came here and maybe I'll send you on your marry way. As he talked he moved closer to the guy and if he was not a meta human the heat emerging from his body should do nothing, but if he is Dustin will go on for a full assault. Good or bad he would find out soon. As he moved closer he only raised the heat to the point of instant death for a human with low resistance.

When he was close enough he was almost standing over him and he seen that his power at the level he was projecting had no effect on the guy. So now was the moment this would turn ugly. He walked away and turned around. Everyone get out of the bank unless you want to be deep fried. Everyone left in a hurry scrambling out of the door of the bank. He stretched out both hands and the air around Dustin increased so hot the cement easily gave way and the roof started to melt instead of burn. Both hands created a spinning sphere inside it that was heatwaves moving around rapidly. The two spheres combusted into flames and he was now holding two fire balls. He reached back and threw them at the guy. Time to make you leave he said to himself.

Ker-thunk.

That was the sound of the vault being hacked wide open and the hard cash within being exposed. Unfortunately for the pyro man, that meant all that paper currency was subject to some intense burning action. Especially when the fireballs went flying. Oops! Looks like the cat is out of the bag. Pitch's body would twist and turn as quickly as he could, one fireball flying over his head into the vault...bye bye loot...one barely scraping across his jacket sleeve setting it ablaze. The gloves were off. Literally.

With bare hands, Pitch would rip his right burning sleeve off at the seams. Flexing his arm, a sadistic grin would play across his stoney features. Obviously at this point, his opponent would realize the flames were not exactly damaging his body. The red blaze licks across Pitch's body like water, breaking off setting the surrounding area on fire. This was one durable bad guy.

"...The name's Dissolution. Come on. Let's have a hug."

Bare hands would collide with the ground below, engulfing the surrounding footing with entropic power. The ground would crack and erode, splitting and dusting away from the fiery man's foundation. Pitch would take that opportunity to launch himself straight at the man, arm outstretched...reaching...
