RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

. o O ( Here is where Laszlo and Arabella shall continue on with their quest. I will fill in with a narrative part and etc, causing scenarios and the like for the two to overcome on their adventure to the address at the Storage Unit area. )

Of course partners can be fun. Partners should be fun. But usually partners are not needed; especially when the respected partners can work well enough on their own. But, in cases certainly identical to these, two people working together is needed more so than desired.

The sun was bright, burning down on New York, though noon had passed and it was falling further and further to the evening hours. So, despite the sun beaming through the partly cloudy sky, and it's bright glow warming the city of New York, the people were still a bit cold from the early spring winds.

The destination for this partnered pair was of course an odd one. It was a storage unit facility that had large warehouse buildings for storing vehicles, lots of larger furniture, and even small air crafts. Though, the partners did not know that. They were simply leaving a restaurant on the other side of the city.

Each of the partners were also given a map by Anna, that lovely attendant. It had a highlighted route to take the partners to their destination. Each route was different. That way, each of the partnered pairs would not run into one another until the very end.

So, for now, they were on their own.

And it was time for their first obstacle. It was a simple note on the back of the map. Along with a couple of other things. Almost like a scavenger hunt.

The list went as follows:

  • Stop a large operation involving drug or weapon trade.

  • Rescue a woman in distress.

  • Try not to kill anyone.

  • Be discreet.

And that was about it. The list was simple and very vague. But there was also a note beneath the list. "Everything on this list must be completed before you reach your destination." The handwriting was very script like and beautiful. All in black ink, too. Possibly written by a woman.

Maybe a man, though. And now it was time for the fun to begin. The pair was posibly close to finding one of the items on their list.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 7th 2012, 8:18 am

Arabella was not overly keen on the idea of being broken off into a group with someone else. The name read Laszlo but after a while it had shifted to The Raven. Curious. She turned the piece of paper over in her hands, still marvelling at the fact something so delicate had changed and transformed. Magic seemed to coat this world even though it was years ahead of her home land. She stood outside waiting for The Raven, having shifted a little ahead of him to get the map and instructions from the sweet girl Anne who was in charge of organising the evening. She offered her a rather curt nod - Ari was not one for showing emotions, especially to utter strangers. She tended to keep them to herself and observe others instead. By keeping her emotions in check it meant she wasn't as over whelmed by other people's. When she had been in mourning and around people her empathy abilities had nearly killed her. She'd learnt then she couldn't cope with her own emotions and others on such a mass scale. Instead of figuring out how to block others emotions out, she had caged her own. It kept her safer and in a clearer mind. It was only occasionally the veil would shift so much to reveal her true emotions. She did smile, laugh, get angry, but just not on the scale as others would. It took a lot to get her to relax around a new person as it was so getting a smile from Ari today would probably be a no no. Do the job and go.

Arabella Montez watched the sun begin to fall from the sky, diving towards the murky ocean and the other side of the world where someone else would soon be waking. She twirled the map in her hand calmly while watching such a beautiful sight. It did ease her emotionless mask into one of lazy content, like a cat who dozed in the sun whilst waiting for the mouse to crawl out and fall straight into a trap. Self-assured. She was not worried about failing this test, it seemed straight forward enough. New York was full of crime so it seemed. Ari glanced behind her and ran her golden green eyes over the entrance, wondering where her partner was. Her lips twisted into a slight thin line, the only hint of her impatience. Maybe he needed to use the toilet before they left.

Ari looked back to the map and trailed her finger over the line. She had never been in New York before Sunday and so had no real idea where this was leading her. Unfortunately, she was going to have to follow the map rather firmly instead of free lancing it and taking a short cut. She was studying the map with a slight crease between her eyebrows when the man she was working with would come out. She had half remembered the route, noting landmarks she would be seeing along the way that she could tick off. It didn't look to bad. The skirt swayed in a breeze and parted like a wave against her leg, revealing the split up her leg but the black encased blade drew the eye to that instead of the exposed flesh. It was a beautiful weapon and one she obviously cared for. Her throwing blades ran her hips and almost blended in to her skirt, each being hidden in a red casing decorated with similar gold patterns. Her grandmothers blades and ones she treasured almost above her katana. It's brother blade lay at the hotel, she hadn't thought she'd need both for a dinner. Alas she was wrong.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 7th 2012, 2:35 pm

Laszlo had very few rules on how to live day from day, but a certainly prominent one concerned the eating of free meals. Even if the food wasn't all that good, it was certainly rude to leave a table before the plate before you was finished. It was even ruder doing it on a empty stomach, so the Magician plucked up a spoon and fork and easily curled prongs in a creamy cheesy mass of carbonara. In the back of his mind, his father Theodore took a moment to remind him not to suck down the spaghetti but instead carefully spoon it between his lips. The meal was indeed nice, almost a completely authentic Italian dish. If he was a critic, he might have given the restaurant an almost glowing review; the atmosphere didn't feel that friendly. Everyone else seemed to still be holding that cold aloof presence bar the women on either side of the table. Maybe it was the sense that the room was so full of Egos, but The Raven was glad for his cowl so he could spy on faces and continue to carefully eat the meal before him. When the last mouth full had been swallowed, he lifted the napkin from his lap and carefully brushed over his lips. He stood, bowed his head to the last members of the table and followed his "Team mate" out into the afternoon.

He paused to briefly flirt with the maître d'hôtel once more, complimenting her choice of dress. She shooed him away a moment later and he stepped onto the sidewalk behind his "partner." Bright blue eyes glanced down long legs, to the skirt and what appeared to be strips of a corset. The costume she wore, well, it was a lot less concealing then his own. When the sun went down she was certainly going to be cold. Laszlo took a moment to lift himself up on his toes, looking at the route dictated on the map. There were certainly a much easier way to go, running along the rooftops or using his grapple to get to those hard to reach places. But no, of course this would be some kind of obstacle course they had to transverse. He fell back to the flat of his feet and easily brushed past her, but not in attempt to offend. Laszlo turned, pinched the brim of his hood and tilted his head like he was doffing a cap. "Nice to meet you, Miss." He offered her a bright smile below the face concealing mask, his lips the only source of an emotional response. And of course his hands, one of which was currently indicating the road they were about to take.

"Seem's like we have a scenic route and some crime to stop." He took a few steps back, keeping that air of cheerfulness. Because he was actually quite cheery; nothing like an audition to get the blood pumping. All your chances at fame or mediocrity rested on how well you performed before the watching eyes. "I wonder how they'll know what we'll do." He mused idly, glancing up at the restaurant. "And if you lie what would happen." Shrugging he stepped back from Arabella and turned, idly beginning to walk across the road and begin their little trip. He did not turn to glance back, rather expecting her to come along too.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 7th 2012, 3:45 pm

Arabella was slightly amused by the Raven's gesture but the only sign was the twinkle in her eyes and a very slight lift to the left side of her mouth, causing a very small dimple to faintly appear. if she smiled properly then the dimples would obviously be more prominent. Maybe he would be okay to work with, he didn't seem rude like the Spanish idiot she had sat next to in dinner. He also seemed rather clever and on the ball, musing things over she too had been thinking. She had a rather odd feeling they were being watched and she wasn't sure she liked it. Her eyes flicked to the shadows along the wall which grew longer with the suns descent. It would probably be easy to conceal yourself in them. She turned her gaze from the shadows and strode after the Raven. The cool air was welcome to Ari who was used to minus 20 degrees at a time like this.

"I do not like the idea of people spying and watching your every move," Arabella said, her voice husky and deep from the accent but surprisingly easy to understand. She moved her eyes to the map in her hands now and flipped it over, taking two large strides to catch up and level out with him so he too could see the list of things they had to do. It was like a treasure hunt that children did in the summer time in her old village. It made her feel childish and stupid. Ticking off the activities almost like it was a game. She didn't mind what they were planning to stop just the manner in which it was set out was almost cheesy. But then if she looked at it from an authoritative way it looked like orders. That made her more easy. Orders she could follow, it was the idea of it being a childish game which had tensed her up.

"Which one would you like to do then La- Raven," she smiled slightly. She had seen the change on the letter. "That's what you prefer yes?" she tilted her head curiously. She didn't want to offend her new partner. Once he had either confirmed it or told her she could call him by his real name, she glanced around their surrounding area while he answered her previous question on which he would like to do. "Oh, you can call me Ari by the way, Arabella is a little mouthful."

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 7th 2012, 6:23 pm

"Oh I don't know. Being watched can certainly have it's fun elements." He shrugged briefly as he considered the street the two were now walking; cars lined either side of the tight road, with tall apartments above shops and other restaurants making up the most of the fronts of the buildings. Here and there the buildings were sometimes different, an electronic store or a webcafe. Laszlo glanced upwards once more, eyes on the sky, looking along the precipices of the building above for any sign of a tail before he glanced back once more. Eyes, hidden by reflective white lenses fell on the map before him when she spoke again, almost using his first name. "Raven is much preferred when wearing the mask and get up, yes." He indicated the ruby jacket and even tugged on his long sleeves to make his square shoulders slip into place. "First rule of building a brand is of course trying to implant into people's minds as clearly as you can."

The blue eyes glance down to the list of "objectives" on the map, making a soft hmming sound as he observed the rules and requirements. His study was paused for a second as he shook his head, waving a thick glove at Arabella. "I insist on calling you by your wonderful name, Arabella." He paused and mused over her accent, his own sounding vaguely continental but mostly English. A childhood and young adulthood touring Europe and even Asia and the States had given him a varied choice of languages to pick and chose from. From what he could tell from the brief words Arabella was from somewhere in Central Europe. The way she dressed hinted mostly at Romania and their little eccentric styles of culture. "I don't think we should cut them up between us though. Almost certainly not the crime syndicate, that could obviously turn quite dangerous." His hands were still very animated, swinging apart and sometimes pointing at the lists.

The last one was the most interesting. "Be Discreet." He repeated with a muse, opening his coat jacket and pulling a small black block under his bicep. He dropped and lifted it up and down in his hand, letting it bounce. "I suggest we take this to the rooftops?" A smile idly curled over his lips, while a finger curled into the trigger hole. The gun folded out into a Desert Eagle shape, a large black claw sliding out from the end of the barrel. He threw the weapon to the other hand and lifted it slightly, gesturing up.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 7th 2012, 6:47 pm

Arabella nodded affirmative to his idea of not splitting up. They wouldn't have been put into pairs if the idea was to work alone on different cases. Someone wanted to see how they worked as a team and she was quite content with doing that. Raven seemed like a good guy, even if he did insist on calling her by her full name, which only her grandmother had insisted on doing. "I will call you by the name given to you Arabella, not a syllable less." Her full name was otherwise only ever used when she had done something bad or she was being stubborn. Her fiancé had been the only one to use it as a caress. It had felt right on his lips. Blinking once, her face hardly betrayed the pain welling in her heart she considered the list once more as well as Raven spoke.

"I do not know New York very well," she scrunched her nose up a little. "Los Angeles is more of my city, or Florida. Is this sort of crime very easy to find around this area?" she tilted her head. It seemed rather strange for it to be on the list if it wasn't a common thing. She guessed people researched this kind of thing, it would probably take them a while to find a weapon or drug smuggling event. And stopping a large operation in one night? If she was a drug dealer where would she go....? Her thoughts were interrupted by the production of a weird device which apparently would get them from the floor to the roof. Ari raised one eyebrow in slight disbelief. Modern technology was an area she failed in, she just simply didn't understand it.

"I think I'll stick to the old fashioned way," she offered a smile and brushed a lock of hair from her eyes. Once it was tucked safely behind her ear she revealed her secret. Her wings which previously had looked simply like a tattoo over her back unfurled and beat twice in the dying sun, causing little rainbows to form along the fairy wings. She motioned that she'd see him up then, bent her knees and lifted into the sky with ease. It was a second later when she landed on the roof top and carefully folded her wings back down against her back. Running she could do, in fact she loved to do it.

"I guess we need to find a bar where the drug dealer sits like the Godfather and then kill him?" she some what mused. Whilst being in America she had decided to educate herself by watching old, old movies. Which had included the Godfather.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 7th 2012, 8:11 pm

Laszlo had about as much knowledge of the intricacies of New York Crime as he did of Crime in any major city; there was probably some hidden away from sight and whoever was committing it preferred it kept that way. Like a magic trick, he supposed, but often they ended much crueler and with less buck for your bang. The circus had a few runs in with the kind of people who placed very little value on other human beings; thugs mostly who claimed to own land that they settled upon or say they would provide protection from even worse sources. However, Strongmen and Acrobats could surprisingly be quite scary when they put their minds to it, so Laszlo rarely had to worry about those kinds of people.

His thoughts were dragged from that for a moment when Arabella gave him a bright smile and moved her hair back, indicating the grappling gun in her own kind of way. He had assumed that she meant one of the fire escapes were going to be scaled and was glad for the grapple solely for how awkward it might be to climb up beneath her. Instead, under the ruby cowl his face lit up at the sudden revelation of the tattoos spreading out insectoid wings. Or... no, more fairy wings? Laszlo was enraptured with the magic, watching the light play across the surface as they fluttered lightly in the low breeze. The blonde stood back slightly and watched her skirts ripple as she pushed from the pavement and moved toward the roof above. Struck dumb for a minute as the light rippled into rainbows through translucent membranes, he then looked about the empty street and shrugged, laughing gently. This might be more fun than he was pretending it would be. After a brief adjustment of his aim he pulled the trigger, the claw latching deep into the stone work above. His shoulder jerked just a bit, the sound of the spindle spinning hard as he was lifted from the pavement. When he reached the precipice he rolled out of the speed, quickly standing tall. With a few quick movements of his fingers, the block was folded and slipped back into the holster.

"Firstly, it's really cute you think that would actually work." The Raven brushed off his shoulder idly, before moving to the edge of the building and glancing down. "Secondly, I think its amazing that you can do the wing thing." He indicated her shoulder, index finger twirling around and pointing at her shoulders. His head turned a bit and tried to examine her back a little closer, mind ablaze by how they actually worked. Did skin from her back turn into the wings or did the membrane get created by the ink? Was there nanobots in her skin or did it exist in some other kind of way? Pushing it from his mind for a moment he finally brought up the third point. "Lastly, we should head in the direction of the run down tower blocks over there. Should be crime out there we could fight."

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 8th 2012, 9:55 am

Ari was quite content to wait for him on the rooftop while looking at their route ahead, carefully picking out the different landmarks she had learned from the map. Her eyes picked them out, examined them and then looked back down to the map to match it up to where on the route they were exactly. The Raven joined her on the roof soon after she had properly secured their position and it put her finger over it to make sure that she wouldn't lose it. Looking up at him as he spoke she tilted her head. So it wasn't like the movies. Well that took away all if any excitement she had about the night. What good would it do if she couldn't say 'You'll be sleeping with the fishes' to some Italian? She caught his eyes then on her wings, straining to look at her back and the now ink-like wings which lay across her back like a blanket. She calmly watched his eyes and waited for him to continue. She would consider telling him how it worked, he seemed like a decent guy and if she was going to be working with him then he might as well know it was due to magical ink deep in the heart of the Gypsies world. It sounded rather magical when said like that, Ari mused over in her mind.

Her green eyes followed the direction he pointed in, to the ratty buildings which would probably be considered a health and safety area in her home land. Concrete blocks were not licked. Stone was the only real type of building which had remained. The large cathedrals and churches built of old fashioned stone were the only real buildings which remained from ages gone past. To Ari and numerous other people, that spoke volumes about what was sturdier and safer to live in. She didn't understand how people could trust brick and cement. Especially on the bottom floor. If that crashed, those would be the ones who would get hurt first. Screw that, Ari thought and then nodded to the Raven.

"It is rather disappointing the only good things I've learned about America tend to be fake," she shrugged and then took off at a sprint. Ari loved to run and she was fast. It usually came in handy when you had to sometimes bolt from the officials or the people you'd taken a piece of bread from. Her foot hit the edge of the building they were on and she leapt from one rooftop, landing on the neighbouring one. She only paused briefly to make sure he was doing okay himself, she wasn't one for leaving a team mate behind, even if it was not a chosen team mate. Once she was sure he could handle himself and she wasn't going to have to offer carrying him she carried on her sprint over the roof tops. Her hair whipped around her face but thankfully stayed out of her eyes long enough to reach the blocks. She halted on the block opposite the run down apartments and crouched on the edge so she could peer into the windows with her partner. Her eyes ran the length of the building looking for some sign of trouble. At the moment there was none. It seemed quiet. To fill the time Ari decided to tell her partner how her wings worked, as he seemed to be so curious.

"There isn't a trick," she looked to him as her wings slowly lifted from her back again and spread out behind them. She liked to be wary when so high up. She wasn't durable enough to survive a fall from the 50th floor. "When I joined a travelling group, a group of performers, the initiation was to pick a tattoo and be inked with a special home remedy. The wings were my choice and then..." she shrugged. "Magic, I guess. When I don't want them they just turn back to ink," she smiled. "Not many people believe in magic anymore though."

The time dragged on a little, probably enough for him to reply before a loud smash could be heard from one of the windows. Ari glanced up to the room where the noise had come from in time to see a light come on and a woman backing away from a staggering man who looked half drunk. He advanced on her and shook her repeatedly, his words lost due to the fact the window wasn't open. He then slapped her hard enough to send her clattering into a table beside the sofa, banging her head. A slow anger curled in Ari's stomach but she kept quiet.

"If you use your little eagle thing to land against the window ledge, you could probably open their bedroom window," she motioned to the a-joining window which had a slim opening. Anyone could slid their hand in through that and open it wide enough to squeeze through. "If I take the stairs, I can cut him up if he tries to run," Ari nodded, already mapping the idea in her mind. She was slightly faster than him and so would probably be the better one to take the longer route. "Remember," she tapped the commands. "No killing." It was meant to be a tease but it was only obvious due to the small smile, it was often hard to catch humour in her accent. Standing up she spread her wings and then tipped off the edge of the building to plummet towards the ground in a matter of seconds. Her wings helped to slow her descent and she landed out of sight in an alley way behind the trash. Once her wings were hidden she snuck into the apartment building and shot up the stairs to the 30th floor, five doors down.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 8th 2012, 9:24 pm

The Raven noncommittally shrugged at her as she addressed the state of America as "Fake." Amusement flowed into his mind when he questioned how that could be so, when everything was made in China. His ruby red cowl turned, bright eyes following her leap across the abyss between buildings suddenly. He suspected that there might be some more... manly men who would have preferred to spend the evening with such a fine woman. Raven however, withdrew what appeared to be a long old fashioned one. Ebony in the center and ivory at either end, his finger curled around it and he held it before him as he walked to one of the thick wires connecting building to building. As casual as he was a moment before, he placed the pointed tip of his black shoes upon the wire. Then the other. In his curled finger the wand grew as if by magic. His full hand closed around it when the wand had assumed the shape of a bō long staff. Two feet on either end still had the ivory shine, as the center was still a dark black ebony.

Smiling he did a quick little bow before she disappeared along the roof tops. The staff was turned into a red handkerchief with a quick tug downward, which then itself poofed into smoke with a wave of his hand. He almost kept up with her on foot, but was about as equal at speed when he was able to use the grapple he had built. The quick movements, the hurdles of moving from one roof to another, the climbing of metal rails and the careful grip of fire escape ladders. There were a few close calls, loose finger tips, but Laszlo hadn't fallen from an acrobatic trick in over ten years and he wasn't going to break that streak. His will alone carried him through most of the strain, lifting himself up onto the final rooftop before the two apartment complexes before them. He didn't sound out of breath simply because he wasn't; this might have been an exercise but he'd have to spend another hour or two working before the muscles ached too much. He approached his still team mate and rather then remain standing settled for letting his legs hang over the edge as he searched too. Where as Arabella was wary of falling, it seemed Laszlo was more then content to be mostly reckless.

The blonde's head lifted further and turned to glance up at her, smooth and definitely birdlike. He stayed silent as she explained the group of performers, the tattoos, the magic. A small bemused little smile formed on his face as he discovered that there was indeed very real magic in the world. He supposed he should have always suspected it; there were wizards and self proclaimed witches in the Superhero community. Still it felt all too strange to be informed that magic, real magic, actually existed. The word Fake returned into his mind and he glanced down at the gloves, holographic projectors, fakes. Laszlo would be offended if, in all honesty, he thought that a little white lie here and there couldn't help someone more then hurt them.

A crash brought the costumed adventurer from his thoughts, some thug in the apartments across taking out some aggression on a woman that certainly seemed to be distressed. A sharp slap rang out as well as a cry for forgiveness as she was sent clattering down to the floor. He frowned and lifted his legs up under him, standing quickly as he withdrew the Claw once more. Arabella seemed to have similar ideas. Before she departed though, he quickly cut into to correct her calling it an Eagle thing. "It's a Raven's claw." Before she went on to point out the window ledge and disappeared to the streets below, dropping like a weight before thin wings caught her. The Raven adjusted his cowl, took a moment to shake out his cape and pulled tight his sleeves and gloves.

A moment later and Laszlo's was against the surface of the building, his feet purchased on the cement and his hands on the window ledge. With a twitch of his fingers he was able to slide the window open, pushing up with minimal effort and swinging a leg into the empty room beyond. Through the open doorway he could hear more crying from the woman, curled up on the floor. The thug continued to swear at her, tell her that she was worthless, tell her all kind of things that Laszlo surprisingly found it was easy to ignore. The suffering wasn't, the suffering was awful, but the noise was pushed back into the dark corners of his mind and the adrenaline began to pump. "Please, Dewey, please..." She said softly, sobbing into the underside of the couch. "Think of the baby." The Raven, the persona of the easily grinning but still violent man, took it from there. An empty bottle of bear stood on the dresser by the bedroom door. He picked it from it's place as the man in the other rooms voice began to raise again.

With a sharp pull of his hand, the door swung into the dark bedroom. Like Satan, red and raising from the shadows, The Raven stepped into the room and gave Dewey a clever little smile. The thug, a black haired greasy lowlife with a pudge stomach and jowls jostling with dark bags under his eyes, recoiled on unstable legs. He had been about to kick the woman in her stomach from the looks of it. He also had a gun, which he was trying to pull from the too tight belt around his midriff. Dewey's voice sounded very far away. "What the fuck are yah doing here?!" Irish from the sound it, about thirty years old if he was lucky. The empty glass of beer was tossed hard across the room, breaking the bridge of his nose before shattering into shards. He stumbled back as the gun came free, tossed through the air and hit the wall. The Raven was moving forward before it was able to clatter to the floor, his hand gripping the front of Dewey's vest while a foot stood on the man's other hand, which had been gripping another beer bottle. That too surprisingly shattered, which only made the soft smile on Laszlo's face widen. Shards of glass were very painful between the fingers, he guessed.

"FUUUCK!"

"Well that's no way to greet a guest."

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 9th 2012, 5:11 am

The 30th floor when Arabella got to it tasted like smoke and cheap beer. The air was thick with fumes she wasn't sure were legal. It crept down her throat and stung her nose, making her eyes water and her throat itch. Several men lined the corridors, some had a woman who looked half asleep clutching at their clothes like a little puppy who didn't want to be left behind. No respect. No love. Lust licked the air like a hazy flame and Ari was barely stopping herself from drowning in it. Tugging at the skirt a bit of access material unclipped in her hand and she wrapped it round her mouth and nose. Her eyes still watered though and she took care to tread down the blood-stained old blue carpet. For the most part Ari ignored the jibes coming from men. it was only until one actually stood in front of her and blew a cloud of the illegal smoke in her face that she stopped. Her lips remained pressed into a thin line as he leaned against the wall and blocked her pat, leering over with a cocky smile.

"I haven't seen you around before beautiful," he wheezed in what Ari could only guess was meant to be his 'husky come and get me' voice. She could have slit his throat and carried on but she had orders not to kill. Impatient Ari placed her hands on her hips and looked at him calmly, assessing the weakest parts on him. A punch between the neck and shoulder would dislocate his main arm. He would swing with his other arm but if she tossed the cloth guarding her tender senses over his face he would be distracted and blind, dislocate jaw, he'd be dazed for a second, stumble, punch to the chest would crack his chest, while he stumbled she could miss his jab, dislocate his jaw, last kick to the chest. Result? Four broken ribs, a broken jaw and a dislocated shoulder. The movements were quick and the guy hardly managed to swing before Ari had her boot slammed into his chest and he flew through the air, smashing into two of his buddies behind him.

"I don't tend to come around places with people like you," she grabbed the red cloth from the floor. For a moment there was silence and then chaos erupted. Ari wound the cloth around her fist as the next guy approached. She aimed for the throat this time, winding him she then swept the legs out from under him, causing one to trip over him so they were fighting to get up. Meanwhile someone had drawn a gun which fired into the sea of fighting, grazing Ari's cheek. A slight red mark appeared but adrenaline stopped it bleeding for now. Ari's blade left her hand and a scream echoed the hall. The gun clattered to the floor and the man was pinned by the ear to the wall. Before he could try to yank it out another thudded into his hand. Blood soaked the wall and she flipped another of her blades into her hand. People had frozen now.

"Really? No-one else?" she raised an eyebrow. The man whimpered against the wall as Ari kicked the gun into her hand. For a moment no-one moved and then it was chaos all over again. The last man slammed through the door of the apartment and she walked over him like a carpet. The hall outside was littered with men groaning and in pain, or out cold

"Go," she motioned for the woman who rushed past her and off with the other girls. Her eyes moved to the man Raven was dealing with and she leaned against the wall wiping the blood and flesh from one blade which had taken one man's finger off.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 9th 2012, 9:06 pm

Apparently Arabella was getting as warm a welcome out in the hall as Laszlo was having in the decrepit apartment. Surprisingly there are very few follow ups to crushing a man's hand into shards of glasses; you don't immediately go from that to lecturing a human being about how poorly treating another human being might lead to karmic retribution. Hindu, Jain, Buddhist or Sikh teachings would be lost on a Irish wife beating scumbag. Plus he suspected it wasn't all that "Discreet." But the pressure of his foot on the thugs hand was certainly satisfying when he saw the hand shaped mark on the woman's cheek, who was as terrified of him as she had been of Dewey. There was a shot in the hallway and the sound of a fight intensifying, but The Raven ignored it for the most part. Instead, he easily pivoted on the sharp tip of his shoe, still crushing bleeding fingers. When his legs finally collided with the same sofa Dewey's girlfriend was clinging to, he settled onto a cushioned seat. The foot still grinding in the glass lifted and then pushed down firmly, like he was about to begin playing a piano. A thick fingered hand twisted hard around his ankle, stubby digits squeezing firmly as Dewey yelped like a scabby street dog. To deter him from getting any ideas, Laszlo pulled what appeared to be a police baton from somewhere out of sight in his cape. The baton landed with a sharp rap on the back of Dewey's knuckles, which made him hiss and let go. "Ah, ah. No. You're being punished and that means this is going to be painful."

"Fu-fuck you."

"You're not my type." He placed the tip of the police baton against Dewey's cheek and pushed slightly, looking down at the frightened woman. He offered her a softer smile and her face seemed to soften, but there was still fear there. "What's your name? Jill? That's a nice name. Why don't you sit down on the armchair there?" She glanced at it and then placed her hand on the other seat cushion, standing slowly before she walked over to it. She sat nervously, feet turned inward and arms around her. "Comfortable? That's good." In the corner of the lenses, he could see a reaching hand out towards the pistol on the floor. Laszlo lifted his hand and rapped quickly on Dewey's arm. He jabbed a little at the inside of the elbow and frowned. "Ah, no. Bad. Bad Dewey." Now where to take it from here. Taking it from here was going to be plenty difficult-

"Is this about the sh-shipment?" Jill asked softly, eyes only on Laszlo's face. Dewey hurled an insult in her direction, a sharp "stupid bitch!" The Raven replied with a quick hard strike to his jaw and gave Jill an apologetic shrug of his shoulders.

"Yes. It's about that. Tell me everything about the shipment." The man lurched up slightly and opened his mouth, but Laszlo jammed the tip of the baton between his teeth and shook his head. It was Jill's turned to speak. The story was only interrupted by the sound of a gunshot out in the hall which made her jump. From what Jill was telling him, there was a ship coming into Dock with Manhattan. Inside of it was a crate, full of soft toys that were meant to be going to "one of those massive toy stores." Except each stuffed toy had a block of cocaine. During the night it was stored in the ship yard, they were going to break in, gut the bears and stack the blocks in the van. Laszlo nodded and smiled with each passing sentence, as he kept pushing the baton against Dewey's jaw.

The door opened and Arabella entered. Laszlo was able to turn his head and glanced out at a hall full of busted and bruised bodies. He waved fingers at one of the thugs who was looking in, smiling as he did. "Go." Jill stood and rushed out into the hall, descending the stairs. Laszlo smiled up at Arabella. "I have a way to finish our last assignment. Anything you'd like to say to Dewey before we get out of here?"

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 12th 2012, 1:57 am

Arabella 's eyes followed the frightened girls as they ran down the corridor. One man tried to go after them, probably to escape as well. Ari's just clean blade left her hands as sharply as someone's breath when they were winded. The blade went straight through the guys heel and came out the other side. He howled in pain as he crashed to the floor and Ari turned back to the man Raven had pinned. Panic stirred in Dewey's eyes and he struggled some what under the Raven's arms. She could hurt him. Make him had nightmares for the next six years. She could spit in his face and walk off but all were too good for him. Yet if she did nothing he'd probably not get the hint that she'd be back if something like what he did to that woman happened again. She unwrapped the red cloth and then walked towards him, thinking quietly. It was then she remembered what she'd wrapped in said wrapped cloth. She crouched in front of the man.

"If I ever catch you doing to that woman again," she held said mutated and somewhat blue finger up. "It wont just be a finger I cut off," she looked him in the eyes now, his lip some what trembling. Ari pressed said finger to his lips and bound it against his head with the red cloth. The smell of flesh turning bad was enough to churn anyone's stomach, but he wouldn't get the feel of it off. Ever. The brain was more powerful than pain sometimes. It would haunt him for the rest of his life.

"Ready?" she stood up and glanced to the Raven. She slid open the French doors and then stood up on the wall which was meant to stop people falling off. "I think we have a ship to sink," she spun just a little and stepped off said wall, her wings unravelling as she hovered in the sky, waiting for him to pick which building to latch onto and then following him down the scenic route.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 12th 2012, 5:39 pm

Laszlo had trained in throwing knives when he was younger; they were always heavy and sharp. When flung hard they made an extremely satisfying thunk into wood, with the handle tending to vibrate from the impact. He discovered that it doesn't make the same heavy kind of sound when it slammed into a man's ankle. Instead, the blade was covered in blood and embedded quite deeply into flesh. The thugs scream echoed hard up the stairs and down towards the ground floor. Laszlo lifted his foot from the crushed fingers and winced in empathic pain, blue eyes narrowing slightly At Arabella as she approached the crumpled remains of poor Dewey. The irish man seemed more afraid of her then he had just been of The Raven. He recoiled in horror and tried not to scream as the finger was placed against his lips, because screaming would mean the tip would touch tongue and teeth and the inside of his cheek. Arabella drifted away from the slumped, shuddering form and jumped upon the railing of the balcony.

The Raven stood and patted Dewey's head in a vaugely sympathetic fashion, before he stepped over that gut and walked towards the railings. Easily he placed his dress shoe and pushed himself up, other foot landing on the thin strip of metal. "Ready?" Wordlessly he pulled the grappling gun from under his arm and aimed across the street at a flag pole, sticking out horizontally from the stonework. "Of course." He fired the gun and latched there, gave her a big smile and jumped out into the empty abyss. His hand held the gun for dear life as his cape impressively billowed out behind him, his legs straight and swinging out as he was able to swing past an entire building before landing on the fire escape beyond it. The grapple hook slammed back into the barrel and he scaled the stairs, before setting out at a quick run towards the Docks Jill named.

He moved fast as a snake across the rooftops, weaving in and out of Air Conditioning units. His shadow trailed after him, long but quickly moving, his long trousered legs pushing across the tar. Excersise like this was fantastic; movement like this was enthrilling and felt like true freedom. The smell of the cars and streets below wafting up, their muted sounds amplifying when he threw himself across the empty space to keep movement. There was a bit of trouble when they came up to a skyscraper baring the way. In stead of going around or over, however, Laszlo was able to leap and grip the pane of a window ledge. He pulled himself into the office beyond and walked the rest of the way through the building, nodding his head and smiling at a cleaner.

Finally the had reached the warehouses around the docks. Laszlo carefully dropped from a building to a wire below, before he slid down the wire towards the roof of one of the large, low storage buildings. He rolled into place and placed his hands into his pocket, idly walking towards the edge of a bright light up area. There, in the harbour was a large ship. Containers were being lifted and transferred to a storage yard by a large industrial crane.

There were men moving around down there. "Ah. Shit." He mused to himself; someone must have called the boys from the apartment block. Because there was a container placed to the side with armed men stood around it. Not the police either, but general thugs. Unshaven, greasy, holding automatic weapons and standing on either side of an open container. Inside were the gutted remains of stuffed teddy bears which were being slowly loaded intot he back of an open van; pure bricks of hardcore drugs were being stacked like bricks of gold.

"Well there goes the sinking of the ship plan."

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Ember_Fangs June 14th 2012, 5:11 pm

Arabella decided to leave her partner to scale the rooftops in his own lesuire. She hardly had time to herself in the skies like this and her wings were crying out for the air above the clouds. She beat them in two seemingly effortless beats and then flew above the cloud cover. Here the night was calm and quiet. Only stars where the witness to her dark pleasures above the skies. Their naked eyes were not ones she minded. Ari was a performer after all and so liked an audience. Her fingers trailed along the clouds and the frail structure broke up in her hand, clinging to her hair and sliding down her arms in a chilling tease. Goose bumps spread along her ivory skin and she lifted higher into the sky, baring her back to the heavens. The shadow stretched below her and over the clouds like a long and daunting grave but up here she felt like she had no life, no soul. She was free from those ties in the world but a few could really enjoy. A parting in the clouds revealed the dark ocean which looked like a pool of spilt ink. It sapped at the coast and tried to suck it down with them into the abyss. It felt as if that black pool was tugging her down too. She had to land now, her companion stood waiting, patient and worried by the tense in his shoulders.

Arabella landed as silent as a moth beside her partner for the day and then allowed her wings to fan out against her back, the tips of her fairy like wings almost touched the floor. she didn't fold them away however which she would usually do. She was aware there would probably be a need for her to fly if they were to fight this lot. Her eyes picked out the men with the weapons and her fingers itched for her blades. She needed to get closer but she could take out a few, she was sure of it. There were still men unloading the cargo. To distract those guarding the drug load they could take out those men.

"We might not be able to sink but," she shrugged slightly and then flicked a blade into her hand and ran her finger along the silver very slowly. "We can still sink their mission. How much of that will be forced down by some poor child who thinks it's cool?" she shook her head with a form 'no'. She would not stand by and let this happen to children. Adults were responsible for their own choices but the little ones needed everyone's help. They ignored the younger generations to much and they were screaming for attention which these bastards took advantage of. Which better way to get someone's attention than be high?

"Lets have a little more fun with these boys," the amusement in her voice was chilling, only emphasised by the Russian accent which held tale of blood they were about to write. "Improvise. It's a shame we don't have some music," she mused and shifted her hold to the tip of the blade. It whispered through the air as she threw it with as much ease as one might throw a ball to their friend to catch. Except this blade was not designed to be caught by any but her. The blade thudded into the man unloading the drugs and blood sprayed like a knocked paint pallet up the cretes and over the wall. The men guarding their sickening treasure. Two moved away to see what the red droplets which looked like rubies was. It was then Ari strode from the shadows like a cat who had seen a mouse. A very interesting mouse. It was to late for the two men left behind right now. They didn't know what the commotion was and hopefully the Raven would shut them up quick enough. A foxy smile played across one mans lips until the eerie yellow light hit her blade and cast a different emotion over the two burly men. She was trained, The katana and throwing blades pointed only to that.

"Hello boys," she purred and drew her katana for the first time in a dreadfully long time.

RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella) Empty Re: RoT: Part 2 (Laszlo - Arabella)

Post by Beastly June 14th 2012, 10:23 pm

His face turned slightly to glance upon the fairy Arabella, who landed soft as a whisper on the roof beside him. He gave her a half hearted smile, but he was feeling a little nervous about this. There were armed man. Three around the crate yes, but he could already pick out more forms coming down from the ship itself that were armed. Not to mention an idling black car by the open gates which just seemed to be begging Irish Mob. He lifted a gloved finger to inform her of both, but instead a blade slammed into the man unloaded the drugs from the shipping container. It dropped down into his fist and he let out a soft, "Huh." He watched her drop into shadow and disappear from view for a few seconds. Laszlo was going to suggest instead of brute strength they should fight this smart, not hard. His eyes moved onto the slumped form that had just supplied the docks with a new fresh layer of paint. The magician mused softly to himself, "Hope he's not dead."

He did not in fact move in to deal with the two thugs; he had something more important to do. Or at least something he considered more important. He instead dropped into the shadows too, but chose a different path around crates. He crawled behind the wood, cape brushing over the stone cement of the dock. When he was close to the large industrial crane, The Raven scaled onto one box and then another. He leapt the short distance between the highest box to the metal poles interlocking the cranes main support beams. When he was about halfway up, hidden by the near dusk, he slipped through the space and reached a hand out to the ladder into the crane's cockpit.

Laszlo popped his head into the cockpit and laughed quietly to himself, the sound of the engine masking it from the pilot. He climbed all the way inside, stooped slightly from the ceiling. In his free hand, he had the gloves create a stubby but thick blackjack. It was a quick sharp smack on the back of the head of the controller to knock him clean out, slumping slightly over the controls. Laszlo puts hands under his armpits and dragged him from the bucket seat, though he found this a little unsavory because this man was far too fat and far too sweaty. "There we go, come on sailor, nap time." He muttered to himself, before unceremoniously dumping the form face down onto the cockpits floor.

The Raven settled behind the control and wrapped his gloved hands around a couple of sticks. He thumbed the ball head on one and gave the dials and levers a critical examination. "This is going to either be very cool or I'm about to get shot at for nothing. Alley Oop." The large square hook, apparently designed to slip easily into holes on a shipping crate and lift, ground to life. The blonde carefully directed it further down the track and swung the pivoted head around, lining the whole thing up to the crate full of drugs. The thugs hadn't seemed to notice yet as Laszlo slipped the geared teeth around the container. With a twist of his hand the claw had sufficiently squeezed the metal box for him to lift it.

There was a moments hesitation before he pivoted the crane around slowly, then faster, faster, into a full 360 degree swing. With the momentum, he slammed the container into the van hard enough to send it spinning off the dock itself and into the water. "Someone is going to be angry at me for that." The Raven laughed to himself, before cursing and ducking behind the control panel. He was right, the ship was filled with Irish mobsters, all who opened fire on his crane with heavy weapons. He crawled from out of the seat and dropped from the hole in the cockpit, like a black and red shade disappearing to the cement below.

He hoped Arabella was having more luck.
