Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Demonhunter November 15th 2021, 6:59 pm

A trail of blood spills as the demon sprints through the back alleyways of the city, running blindly on on occasion glancing back behind him. He held on to his bleeding abdomen as he left a steady trickle of ichor with no time to stop and tend to himself. He then strips and falls over a discarded trash can, only to stumble back to his feet and run right into a dead end. Clawing at the chain link fence, the devil turns to realize he was trapped with his assailant.

“Aicha, Von dorir?” A heavily accented voice calls from the fog as the devil visibly prepares himself for a fight.

The devil shivers at the horseman’s voice as her energy begins to put pressure on him, giving him the sinking feeling of mounting dread begging him to continue running rather than fight her.

“Why though? It’s not like you’re a cop or somethin! Here take it!” The demon yelps, reaching into his pocket and tossing a silver necklace with crimson stains in the recesses of the pendant.

“No wealth undoes the suffering you caused to procure it, demon. That woman is still dead and you are soon to join her.” Rai’s voice was still clouded from the accent as rage boiled inside the reaver as she steps out of the city fog into full view of the demon who just looked as though he wanted to run.

Only one dying here is you, horse bitch!” The demon suddenly cackles as the rooftops spring to life, a small swarm of demons descends upon the reaver, catching her in the back, but failing to knock her to the ground. Talons dig into the flesh of her collar as she swings a blade upward into the feather’s monster’s chest, slicing a piece clean out of it’s sternum. Another demon finds it’s footing in front of her and leaps into her, jaws agape and poised to go for the throat, only for Rai to duck down and shove her pauldron into it’s check, knocking it into the dirt. Before she lands the killing blow on that one another hound-like demon jumps onto her back, jaws clamping down and digging into her armor. The demon she was about to execute gets up and leaps just as another appears from down the alleyway and join into the assault on the reaver.

The original demon gives a sigh of relief, choosing to continue his sprint down the streets, choosing to take the opening the gang had given him and not sticking around to see the result. Satisfied with the amount of space he’d put between himself and his pursuer, the devil stops, panting with exhaustion as he looks to the sky, laughing like a mad man. He’d be one of the few demons to survive a reaver attack it seems.

Sadly for him, he was too busy celebrating to hear the cascading of horse hooves coming from down the ally as he finds himself barreled over by the horseman. Grimmorah’s hooves plowing the demon over with no mercy as the Reaver leaps from it’s back.

Now crumpled and bruised he groans, trying to crawl away from the approaching reaver, who was also a bit torn and tattered. “Was it worth it?” She asks as she sends the blades crashing down through the devil’s spine, ending it for him in one clean blow.

Only then did she let out a held breath, taking the moment to rest, sitting against the brick wall as she notices how much damage she’d taken from getting swarmed. She shakes her head convincing herself she’d be fine, she just wanted a second. Grimmorah lumbers to his rider, shoving his boney nose into her chest and stamps his hoof as if urging her up but she just shakes her head. “Not now. We can sit for a minute.” She admits, brushing a hand along the bridge of his snout.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Samael Christensen December 2nd 2021, 5:57 pm

”If there’s one thing I hate more than anything else it’s demons, and crooked cops,” Samael eyed the demon strung up by the shadowy vines, thorns digging and ripping out small little droplets of inhuman blood with each squirm. Did they know they were hurting themselves more or did they care? Well the more a demon could suffer the happier he was, so that thing could hurt itself all it wanted.  ”you’re one of those things, so I hope you’re not under the assumption I won’t stoop to torture to get you to tell me what you know,” As if to make the point, the shadows dug into his skin even more and drew a strangled growl from the demon.

“So what the fuck do you want from me you half freak,” The demon spat, eyeing him with unrestrained rage.

”I know a hive if your kind are lurking around here. I want you to tell me where they are, ”

“Hah as if I wou-” The sentence was cut off by a howl of pain, sharp thorns digging into abyssal flesh.

”You will. It’s just a matter of when really. Demons like you...well they can’t take too much pain, but it’s not much of a problem for me.”Pitch black eyes bore into the suspended creature, seeing through the nearly impenetrable darkness of the room, sparsely lit by a street light through the window. Demons he knew didn’t like pain, not enough to withstand it forever. All he needed was his information, which meant plying his method until something worked.

It eventually did of course.

Despite how much they liked to act like they were above humans, both were averse to pain. Both didn’t like to hurt, so torture was always a tactic to fall back on if he needed it. Why was he hunting down demons? Well as he had said, he hated them but also someone had asked for his help. These things were beginning to turn their eyes towards them, though for what reason he didn’t know. Maybe it was something stereotypical like wanting to devour their soul but he was paid. Not enough for a job like this normally. Nowhere close but he made up something about a demon discount.

It didn’t seem like they were associated with his father but that was fine too. They didn’t need to be. That was what lead him to walking through the fog cloaked streets of New York, hands buried into his pockets and senses all honed towards any sound or scent they could catch. The air smelled if water, smog and something else. Horse? Not a common scent for the city he was sure which meant something odd was going on. Under the smell of animal was blood, inhuman blood to be exact.

Following the scent trail didn’t reward him immediately with a horse but instead various demon corpses all killed in some fashion. Was he not the only one hunting them down? Samael furrowed his brows, looking them over before continuing to follow the scent and now signs of blood that led further onwards. Something was happening and he had to at least be sure that his own job was finished. If someone else was killing these demons, that might not bode well for his paycheck. Unless they were less of a mercenary and more of a free agent.

Well he wasn’t surprised to see that the deed had already been done, just a damage looking woman and horse looking over the cadaver. Well, there was nothing normal looking about the woman with her bone white skin and strange black markings. Nothing normal about the horse either. Snorting, he pulling a cigarette from his back pocket and lit it, taing a drag before exhaling. ”Looks like you gottem all. Guess that saves me the effort of doing it,” he shrugged, making his prescence well known now.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Demonhunter December 6th 2021, 10:08 pm

Meanwhile Rai rests her head back against the bricks, taking in a deep breath only to feel the rattling of blood in her lungs and turn her head to cough. She didn’t really feel like choosing to regenerate yet, not quite satisfied the area was demon-free. Last thing she wanted was to wake up to another fight if it’d let her wake up at all. A smart demon knew impaling a regenerating reaver was a sure fire way to stop them from getting back up to resume the carnage.

Grimmorah stamps his hoof, pushing his nose into his rider more aggressively, glass teeth even catching on her leather armor from the force. “Hey, quit it.” Rai groans, pushing him away again. The horse reluctantly steps back with an irritated grumble as his rider just wanted the rest while the coast was clear.

Eventually Rai would learn to listen to her beast as another man stepped out of the foggy backroads. She perks, eyeing him for a second before figuring him for a regular man. His soul, although muddied and dim, still shimmered in a similar manner to a humans. Thus she made the assumption of normalcy. Grimmorah, however, was not convinced. He gives an agitated whinnie in Samael’s direction that sounds distorted with the screams of hell as he shifts his weight. He did not leave his downed rider, rather sidestepping to face his rear toward the approaching man. The stallion’s hind legs tense under his weight as he glares back over his shoulder, readying a nasty kick.

“Don’t mind the horse. He is just overly attached.” Rai’s accent thickens as she eyes down Grimmorah. All reaver’s horses were protective of their riders when it came down to it. Their fates were intertwined, losing a rider would mean losing his life. “Help me up.” She huffs as Grimmorah peels his eyes away from Samael, back to Rai. She takes hold of the side of his bridle as the horse hauls back a few feet, giving Rai the leverage to get to her feet.

“ I didn’t realize there were other demon hunters in this world. Glad to know it is not just me.” She glances back to the corpse of the unfortunate demon. “Any thoughts on where he may have come from? I got outnumbered, which means there could be a nest somewhere, no?” The reaver gives a light shrug, not really expecting him to know, but she didn’t see the harm in asking.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Samael Christensen December 31st 2021, 11:01 pm

The woman looked injured, and he assumed it was from fighting the demons. Her strange appearance made him wonder how human she was and if that inhuman part came with healing quicker than a human. Well, if he needed to he could deal with the rest of the vermin without having someone slow him down. Demons were the kind of beings that had no problem taken advantage of the weak or injured.  The horse standing guard over the woman however seemed like it was all too ready to rush him, even trample him if it came down to it. That was enough to amuse him, a smirk forming on his lips.

”Good to know the horse is so protective of its rider,” He mused outloud, burying his hands in his jacket pockets. Eyeing the alleyway bright as day for him. Splattered with various demon parts, something that  would have to be cleaned up later.  ”there will always be people who hate demons. I’m just the kind of person to take that hatred out on them,” He shrugged,  now considering this woman with a subdued amount of respect. Anyone who killed demons was good in his book...save for perhaps the angels.

His brows furrowed, thoughts working through his head. ”A nest is possible. Maybe a higher up demon is working over them,” he mentioned, wondering what a greater demon could want with  these mortals. Usually they were more interested in stealing souls, for currency and things like that. ”it seems I underestimated how many demons were here.” he gave the woman a look over, then sighed. ”you look a little too injured to run into fightin these demons though. Think it might be a bit much?”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Demonhunter January 11th 2022, 6:50 pm

Rai gives a light laugh. “It’s easy to be protective over someone if they are your only link to mortal planes.” She gives a light wave of her hand as Grimorrah collapses into sulfuric ash and dust with a hellish squeal. She leans back against the wall to take some weight off her wounded leg, which had left bloody footprints where she’d stood. ”So you suspect a greater demon, how charming.”

“I am alright, I just wanted to ensure I had a cleared space to heal myself in. My kind are incredibly vulnerable while healing.” Rai shrugs as if she wasn’t a dead woman walking. She glances back in the direction she came from. “I had to track this one here from that giant bridge.” She points out in the direction of the Brooklyn Bridge, unsure of exactly what that was called. “I’m going to assume you know the city better than I do, if you’re willing to work with me, we could make quick work of them if all goes well.” Rai gives a light smile before sinking back down to where she was when Samiel had found her in the first place.

“If you don’t mind standing watch and we can get started. I promise, I’m not dead. “ Rai coughs, blood rattling in her lungs. “Meanwhile, think of large areas with few people ar-” The reaver’s voice trails off as everything seems to stop. She gets the tell-tale thousand yard stare of death. Everything stills. At first glance it seemed then end, however on closer inspection, her wounds were sealing themselves, a hellhound tooth pushes itself from the wound in her shoulder as it began to stitch itself back. Her body repaired, the corpse seems to snap back to reality before coughing up a pretty good amount of blood, but other than that her lungs sounded clear.

“Alright, I apologize, I couldn't wait any longer.” With a shake of her head she stands, looking back in the direction the demon was running to. “As I was saying. Large spaces, not many people, maybe a bad area?” She asks, not exactly sure of where to start looking.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Samael Christensen February 7th 2022, 7:14 pm

Only link to the mortal planes? That caused him to look between the horse and woman once again. Nervously licking his lips, while trying to figure out what he was dealing with. ”Smaller demons follow the bigger ones. Just makes sense,” Samael responded with a shrug, wondering if she just didn’t believe him. Following where she pointed, he found himself looking at The Brooklyn Bridge. They’d come from around there, which meant maybe he was dealing with demons set up around the bridge. It was an interesting place to be, though that wouldn’t protect them from someone like him. Not when there wasn’t even a ray of sunlight to be seen.

His mind worked over where they could find the demons. Were they working with demons hanging from the underside of the bridge? No,too much noise and they would likely just drive themselves mad. As he did these inspections, he heard the telltale sound of flesh knitting back together and by the time he was looking at her again she was as good as new. Well that was interesting. ”Maybe. Demons seem to thrive on the worst aspects of humanity. So they’d congregate where the sin is thickest...so to speak,” He inhaled through his nostrils, trying to pick up a scent trail and finding only a faint scent. Well, nothing to track anyone with he knew.

”I might have to scry them out. Not always accurate but it gets the job done,” He dug through his leather jacket pocket and withdrew a dark red crystal stylus,  turning it over to make sure the small runes were still alight along its length. ”Water...i’ll need water,” He frowned, realizing how difficult it might be to do something like that. Quickly slipping it back into the pocket. ”I think it’ll be easier to find some ravens. They always have information if you know what to give them.” Making sure the woman could stand he began walking, looking for where the servants of his father might be gathering. Not all were, some to Odin and other trickster gods but he had a bad habit of meeting those who served The Raven.

”So what can I call you? Sure it doesn’t matter but if we’re going to be hunting demons together it would be nice to have a name other than you,”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Demonhunter February 17th 2022, 9:38 pm

Rai shakes her head with a light grumble under her breath. “Makes sense. I didn’t know your world had sinful people. Or at least not enough of them to draw in demons in proportion to bring a greater demon.” Rai leans down to pull her boot strap a bit tighter, hair rolling through her shoulder like hazy smoke. Her armor looked worn and scuffed as if she’d worn it her whole life, yet seemed to heal with her when it was actually damaged. She seemed to be half-interested until Samiel mentions scrying, which has her full and undivided attention.

“You can do magic?” She asks as if stunned that just anyone could do magic. She didn’t see any of the tell-tale signs of someone allowed to practice the craft in Dis, but then again, she shouldn’t be so surprised that things were very different here. “There was water under the bridge, I bet I can get a bucket or two from the river if that's what you need for your magic.” The horseman thinks out loud, not necessarily knowing what kind of water or how much he needed. He’d just started walking so Rai of course follows, although the significant difference in the stride between a tall man and a short woman made her have to skip a few strides to catch up with him.

“Now ravens would definitely be easier. Cebra gets kind of mad when I feed the crows. Says they’ll keep coming back and eating his corn… but…” She reaches into her pocket and produces a fist full of raw, whole kernel corn with the guilty smile of a child who’d just had to rat on herself for doing what she was explicitly told not to do. “Just don’t tell. He’ll be mad that I’ve been taking his corn. But how else are the birds supposed to get it? They’re scared of the giant man made of straw. But we can bribe some Ravens with it, no?” She reaches into her other pocket to offer Samiel yet another fist full of corn as if one was not enough. “I am Rai. And what do I call you, Magic-man?”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Samael Christensen March 9th 2022, 4:35 pm

”If you thought that was true you don’t know enough about humans,” He kept his eyes on the woman. What kind of person could she be. Pure human wasn’t something that could be tacked onto her, though he was no further towards that either. ”When it comes to sin this world is full of it,” Humanity was the kind of species that made its own rules and then proceeded to break them for some reason.  He took in the scent of the world around him. Nose crinkling in disgust,  the scent of human filth being something that he just didn’t like. Just nothing that he could really get used to.

As the two moved through the shadows of the buildings around them, he heard her question his ability to do magic. Was that a strange thing for a demon hunter? ”I know a little magic. Just enough to get my job done, something that takes advantage of my...unique circumstances,” He went around with enough demon slayers to know not to bring up his own mixed blood. Not all liked it being mentioned, if they weren’t planning to kill him outright, though this woman was acting quite friendly. ”Water, a mirror or anything that reflects an image good would work.” He gave a small nod, keeping his attention mostly towards the bridge in the distance.

Well, he would have kept his attention on the bridge but the woman produced a fistful of corn from somewhere. ”Do you just bring that stuff along with you?” Ravens often begged him for food, if they didn’t come there specifically to mock or annoy him. Even still they always ended up appearing wherever he was, so at the very least he hoped a few would be around. ”You can call me Samael,” He responded to Rai, seemingly ignoring the corn but they never did.

Descending from the shadows was a raven, landing on his shoulder and snatching up a few kernels. ”Looks like they took you up on the offer, ”

“The strange girl understands, but you do not Ravens Son,” The raven spoke but likely to the woman it was all raven noise.

”I don’t want the scavengers flocking around me. My fathers servants just end up annoying me,”

“You know he’ll never let you be. He seems quite invested in you little hatchling,” That was enough to sour his mood further.

”I’m looking into a nest of demons around here. Would you know anything about them? We did give you the corn,”

The raven didn’t speak for a few seconds, instead still feasting on the corn. “Of course. They were hiding under the shade of that giant land connector. Would come out and do their hunting when the sky light went down,” He hated when raven words didn’t quite translate.

”Well, that’s interesting but I think I already knew that. It’s not enough to earn that corn,”

He was sure the bird scoffed, though it was hard to tell. “Fine. They’ve built an entire nest under there, humans can’t see it with their weak eyes but I saw it. A small city practically under there.”

”Better. Rai, it looks like we know where our demons are, though they might be expecting us,”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Demonhunter April 1st 2022, 9:07 pm

Rai was learning so much about this world from Samael in just a few moments. Dis was dangerous because of the demons… was this world dangerous because of the humans? Either way, she still couldn’t let all these demons float around like this. Either way she had shown Samael her corn as sheepishly as she could manage.

“I um… Sometimes carry corn in my pockets…” She backtracks, realizing that maybe that wasn’t super socially acceptable. “A lot of animals like corn… and it’s nice to have some available to give to them. Especially the strange cats I find in some trash cans. The ones that have hands.” Rai makes a weird grabby gesture with her hands as if to mimic the strange creature to which she was referring to as the crows descended.

She watches in fascination as they seem to just flock to the magic man. She understood none of what they were saying, but was really more pleased with the fluttering of feathers and soul. Her slightly pointed ears perk to attention as Samael speaks to her again, prying her attention away from the bird.

“Oh? Good. Not great that they expect us, but at least we can know where to go now.” Rai gives a shrug. “Where to?”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Samael Christensen September 6th 2022, 11:02 pm

”Well, the ravens will love you for the corn,” Samael admitted, and the ones flying overhead agreed with that. Some fluttering down on nearby dumpsters and the like as if silently expecting that Rai would relinquish her corn. One even screeching in that ravens voice for corn, wings stretched outwards in a demanding gesture. All he did was roll his eyes, and sighed. ”I’ll lead the way. I know the general area where they’ll be. We can work on clearing them out from there,” He explained, mentally figuring out how far the bridge would be from them and if he would need to walk or try something else.  Glamour only did so much after all, and New York was too bright to just fly through the sky without being noticed by someone.

”Have a way of moving aside from walking? I can fly there but it might be a little awkward trying to carry someone, and well,..the humans would notice us pretty quick,” he also had a vehicle, but he didn’t know if someone riding a strange horse would appreciate the intricacies of a motorcycle. Well, that was only an assumption on his part but he learned to trust his gut on these kind of things.  ”guess we can take my ride if you don’t have any other way. I’ve got a bike not too far from here,” Scratching his chin, Samael just lead the raver if she was so inclined to follow him.

He turned to look at the shorter female, arching a brow. ”need any weapons for this? Not saying you’re under prepared but demons can be pretty annoying to deal with,”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Demonhunter September 17th 2022, 12:26 pm

Rai only gave a light smile as the ravens scattered away, not understanding their screeching, just happy to have given them a snack. “I will bring them more later.” She hums producing the glass horse figurine from her pockets. “I have a way of travel, but is it so bad if humans do notice us?” She asks, rather confused about why Samael was worried about being spotted. Did humans not just ignore the strange here?

Samael was strange to her, but he was teaching her things. Apparently it was not normal to carry corn for crows and it was not socially acceptable to ride Grimmorah in the presence of people. She did follow behind him before chirping out. “What is a bike? Is it like Cebra’s truck? A horseless wagon powered by old dead birds?” Rai could only parrot how the concept of fossil fuels was explained her her, still not really understanding it herself.

“I can handle a demon nest.” Rai chimes, recalling the discarded scythe from the bleeding heap the demon had become, blade glimmering a sickly green that would serve to make most demon-kind shy away from the pressure it exuded. It sliced demons like butter and made souls shiver from it.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Post by Samael Christensen December 7th 2022, 6:42 pm

More corn for the birds, lovely, He thought to himself, expression drooping slightly as he felt the eyes of ravens on him.  The damn things were always serving some new master, anyone that was willing to give them enough corn or whatever to keep them loyal.  He was sure his father wasn’t the only one that managed to draw their loyalty, though he had the benefits of being a raven affiliated demon himself. ”Humans fear things they don’t understand, which is..surprisingly a lot of things. I’d also rather not have to deal with the police,” he answered simply, imagining his last run in with them and how quickly they threw him into meta-human super-max. Humans were not used to the strange, not the same way he or perhaps even this woman was. What was she anyway?

He turned to her as she questioned what a bike was. Chewing on his lower lip and working through what kind of answer he could give to the strange girl. ”Something like that. Loud, two wheels, belches smoke and gets you where you need to go,” It was a strange way to describe a motorcycle but the woman was speaking in terms of horseless carriages. If that were the case knowledge of technology could have been decidedly medevil. Without thinking about it he felt over the weapons he kept concealed in his leather jacket; knives, guns, and various other things that did their damage against demons. Hopefully nothing he would accidentally hurt himself with.

He lead the two of them through the alleyways, already his mind working over what they might deal with in this demon nest. Despite the general term demon, the kind of beings they could encounter wasn’t something so neat.  Creatures depicted in many human cultures could be encountered, all of them with their own unique weaknesses and ways of dealing with things. He had heard that until recently, even some demons didn’t exist. Instead they were imagined into existence by artistic, usually Christian people who spread their images of hell across the populaces. A theory that in essence meant that enough human imagination could interfere with the radiant mana of the world and universe, creating things that once did not exist.  Those kind of phenomena were something he was both horrified and fascinated with.

Eventually they came upon his ride. A dinged up Harley-Davidson, mostly black with some lines of orange that really seemed to pop. He liked it, despite some people thinking the general concept tacky. His mind moved to The Brooklyn bridge which was in the distance, far despite how reachable it looked from their position. ”Here you go.” he motioned to the bike, throwing one leg over and looking to the woman with an arced brow. ”We can take this, won’t take more than a few minutes and we’ll be at the bridge,” He explained, fingers curled around the handles now, breath hissing through his nostrils in an almost impatient manner. ”Ever ride one of these before? Have a feeling not but gonna ask anyway,”

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Police? What a strange word. She’d never heard of them before. Were they perhaps like the clergy, scooping up any bad reavers to haul to the pyres? If that were the case maybe she should be a bit more careful about her demon hunting antics. Strange world she’d landed in. It even had two wheeled, smoke burping… things? Motorcycles she guessed? Strange but intriguing. She took a moment to inspect the bike, reaching out to touch it for a moment.

It felt oddly smooth, she didn’t know why she expected to feel fur and muscle, it didn’t have a soul after all but the concept of any kind of machine moving under it’s own power was still so strange to her. Even riding in Cebra’s truck gave her pause. How would it hold them? It was shorter than even the smallest ponies she’d seen so she was worried the weight of them both would break it’s spine. This pause was only soothed by the fact Sammy was telling her to hop on and if it would break, he wouldn’t be offering.

She copies Sammy’s movement, though cringing a bit on how low she was sitting. So low she hiked up her knees not to drag the ground. “I have not. But if it will get us there faster” *Thunk*[i] The heels of Rai’s boots smack right into the rear calipers, the same manner she would have kicked a horse but it earned nothing but a loud metallic cry from the bike and a small pout from the reaver. “I think the ‘bike’ is broken.” She blinks, not still trying to register that this was not an animal she was on, or that it didn’t make that much sense to her. She looked around, still trying to make sense of what she was looking at, eyesight not really able to tell the intricacies that made a motorcycle pleasing to look at, rather a big white blob of parts. At this point all she could really see was Sammy, his form taking up the majority of her field of view as he definitely dwarfed her.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

He waited for her to straddle the bike as well, absently tapping a finger against the handle.  Eventually she did that, followed by the sound of metal groaning in protest.  It sounded like...someone kicked it? Samael turned around to see...what looked to be quite a nasty ding in the side. ”Don’t do that,” He said, irritation seeping into his voice.  Would he be able to bump that dent out? That was something he’d have to find out later, if the bike didn’t get broken in the process.  So he gave the ignition a turn, smoke belching from the exhaust and engine roaring to life.

Okay, so at least it was working.

With that the two were off, roaring through the streets with a cycle he was sure was louder than he remembered. It was enough to make his ears hurt, damn sensitive hearing. They got some looks, though he managed for the most part to drive the city and miss most of the traffic. It seemed Lily’s enchantments on the ride was enough to keep them on track. How did it work anyway? Directions just beamed themselves into his head, a manner of divination thing though aside from guiding him it did nothing more.

Were he ended up parking was on the shore near the base of the bridge. Ever since the attack this place had become a sort of beach, something that didn’t get full repairs.  Just enough to let people drive across the massive bridge that loomed above them, the shapes of webbing and something else visible to his dark sensitive eyes. There were even shapes moving amidst those structures far above, shrouded within the glamour he was sure that kept humans from wandering in. They fed on humans, but even demons knew not to draw attention. Military action could lead to death, or so movies told everyone, and apparently demons were interested in media. Who knew?

Soon as he parked, the loud engine was quieted, leaving him instead with the sounds of the city in the distance. ”So, what do you have as far as weapons for fighting demons?” He looked up, hands buried in his pockets and mind working over what they could do to fight a proverbial swarm.

Don't Fear the Reaver Empty Re: Don't Fear the Reaver

Sammy was right, this thing really did burp gas. “Sorry.” She covers her nose, not really taking a liking to the smell of fuel exhaust and finds herself clung to Sammy’s back as the thing did not have the comfortable and predictable rocking pattern of a horse that she could sit… rather it just kind of went. It kind of felt like she was being thrown in a continuous direction. The world whirred by her, not necessarily faster than she was used to, just way more smoothly, which she did eventually release her deathgrip from the back of Sammy’s jacket and just take in the strange sights, sounds and smells.

As they neared the bridge her nerves coiled up, itching to fight. She caught herself staring at the large structure with malice as there was definitely something evil in there. It took everything in her not to jump off this bike and just go straight to smashing it… good thing she only had one thread of restraint and it showed.

“Your world likes big buildings… too big. Lots of hidey holes for bad things.” She mentions, swinging her leg over the bike to stare up at the massive bridge, no manner of glamor shielding it from her sight. She saw it for exactly what it was, a hell hole absolutely overrun with demons so badly their stink actually sank into the area, desecrating it. “I have my scythes. They kill things just fine. I do best with big things or things that are a bit tougher. Sometimes they wear armor.” She notes. Her usual job as a colossus slayer was to cut down goliath foes… or to shred the armor off tankier builds and let others finish the job. She did not know exactly what Sammy did or what he would expect of her, but she assumed it was information he’d want given he was questioning what she used to fight.
