No one needed an overly convoluted plan to get a newly exposed tablet from an excavation site in Egypt to London, but that did not stop a quick switch of cargo crates from happening at the docks. Two trucks carried the majority of the dig straight to the museum while a lone truck carried the tablet in isolation. It slowly pulled into the back storage facility adjacent to the London Museum of Antiquities and History, coming to a stop with its headlights beaming against a stack of pallets.

Both of the trucks carrying the exhibit arrived hours before, slightly behind schedule, but nothing a little tried and true elbow grease would not be able to whip into shape before the 7:00 PM opening of the exhibit. Danny stepped out of the truck in a blue, sleeveless dress with a cut stretching from the dress' bottom around her ankle all the way up to her mid thigh. She tossed her heels down to the ground, stepped off the running board, then snapped her shoes onto her feet. "See?" The blue screen on her phone did not say 7:00 PM. The sound of spectators pouring through the halls did not say 7:00 PM. "No problems."

The truck occupied the open center area of the facility. Shelves of ancient antiquities translated the lights hanging above from the twelve foot ceiling into shadows skittering about the concrete floor. The exact necessity and purpose of some of the crates fell out of the knowledge of the current curator, possibly dating back to the ledger of decades past curators, possibly creating more complex situations for researchers to need to unravel.

A woman slightly taller and more slender than Danny hopped out of the passenger side of the truck. Her hair was pulled back into a spiral up do, making her look even taller with the assistance of a pair of black heels. She too kept her dress sleeveless, but her hem fell shorter around her knees. "No problems, because we were careful." Tsukimi Sanada initially entered the passenger side of the truck thinking it was the driver side, but did not want to admit her mistake, instead letting Danny do the driving. "Let's just get the tablet out and switch it with the proxy one."

"The real one will be safe in the vault." Danny forwent any form of cart or technology, instead merely creating a turquoise lift with her bracelet, allowing her to leverage the crate towards the edge of the truck, then created a ramp to merely slide the crate down to the ground. "Easy enough. Now, we just get to the vault, and this thing will be safe."

It was a good plan. It really was! Anubis had to give them credit! Two identical trucks down to the letter, probably lead-lined to prevent X-rays (not that she would know), sending them down the same path, but one’s empty and one is full! Both weighted down, both guarded. Really, there was no way to know which was which unless you could somehow, I don’t know, follow it from the very beginning? … okay, that’s exactly what she did. She was there, at the docks. She was going to swipe it there, but there was something weird about the girls with them. For real, all sexism aside, in this day and age, the only reason women were hired over men for jobs like this were because of superhuman capability. And she did not feel like messing with any of that today. Or at least, not in a fair fight. She’d prefer to handle them from across the street, picking them off with an arrow amplified with her Red Rings. In short, absolutely destroying.

But a moving target was too difficult, and besides they were protected pretty heavily by the cab of the truck. And that metal could interfere with her aim. It wasn’t likely, but she was nothing if not precise. Yes, it was all about precision … it had nothing to do with wanting to feel their blood dripping over feelings … just the thought of it brought a smile to her face. Oh, soon she would satisfy the demons inside her, quiet the incessant voices echoing in her skull. But there was a problem, which quickly wiped the smirk from her face. The warehouse was too thick, too public and more importantly, too not possible to see through for her to amount a possible attack. Even from across the street. See, right across the street were these super convenient apartments. She had … erm, “claimed” one for her own. By that, she meant murder the lonely old woman and her two cats living there. But it was worth it, see, because it gave a great view of the museum!

But a not so great view of the warehouse, unfortunately. Which, y’know, hindsight is 20/20. But still, she knew exactly what she was going to do! She was going to march over there, kick their ass, and take that tablet … stone … thing. Okay, honestly she had no idea what that thing was, just that it would look great with her other artifacts! She had a mummy! It was awesome. But that's besides the point! … wait, what was the point? She screwed up her face as she tried to recall … right, killing things. That was the point. Specifically killing those guards so she can get that slate! … she really wanted to know what it was. Guess she’ll find out soon enough, though.

She got up from her perch by the window - bay windows, honestly the best thing ever - and stretched. She had been crouched there since the artifact first left the docks and she missed her chance to snatch it then! It was time to leave now, the place was starting to smell. Congealed blood didn’t smell so great and they’ve been lyin’ here in the heat for a while. Huge piles of what looked like jelly spread from below the bodies, wobbling lightly whenever a sparse breeze flew through the house. She wrinkled her nose at the sight.

”Hmm. Next time, throw ‘em out the window.”

She muttered to herself. It would make much less of a mess and she wouldn’t have to deal with what she’s dealing with anyway. If they go out the window, it’s not her problem! Though, that does give her an idea …. The window opened, letting in the cacophony of the late evening crowd. Perched on the windowsill, she paused; not out of fear, oh no. She just had to calculate the jump. As fun as it could be to land in the middle of the crowd and sow hell among the London populace, she had a job to do; she’d have to make time for that tomorrow. For now though, she gathered her energy and with a flick of her mind activated her Red Rings, the energy pouring from her as suddenly she leapt. A sound like a gunshot rang out as outside wall of the apartment cracked, spiderwebs creeping out from where the black-haired girl leapt off. Bits of stone and glass rained down on the crowd below, starting a minor panic, but Anubis paid no mind to this. She was already running across the roof of the museum, angling towards the far side, where the warehouse was.

Again she leapt and this time there was a bow in her hand and an arrow knocked; and with nothing to announce her presence. Her footsteps were completely silent, and the white shift she wore - the only color the gold around the breasts and hem - moved with the wind, not even flapping in the London air. For a second she seemed to hover in air, silhouetted against the brownstone wall behind her, and then she let the arrow fly. Even to those with enhanced senses, it would disappear from sight before suddenly slamming into the ground … underneath the engine of the trunk. It would happen in an instant; one second was the girl in the white dress and winged eyeliner was firing an arrow, the next the truck was nearly destroyed. Smoke poured from the engine and a hole the size of a fist led directly through it.

Anubis, meanwhile, had landed on her feet, not even letting out a plume of dirt as she hit the ground, her Gold Rings cushioning her landing. She ran as soon as her feet touched the ground, each footstep creating a golden circle that disappeared as soon as it left the ground. Without missing a beat she was up the side of the truck, an arrow knocked again. This close, it was obvious she was short; as in, absolutely tiny. Four foot nine and barely ninety pounds and obviously young. Nonetheless, the heavy make-up - with blue eye shadow and winged eyeliner - and her long black hair pulled into waves around her face was an effective enough mask; this was in addition to the absolutely bloodthirsty grin on her face.

”Well. Aren’t we pretty little guards?” Unhinged. That was the word that would best describe the worming, high-pitched tone of her voice. She was crazy. ”What are we doing here?” She glanced casually at the tablet, and a look of delight spread over her face. ”Oh. My. Gosh. You have powers. How good for you! Really must make your life super convenient!” She laughed, a sound that was more unhinged than her normal tone of voice. Despite her attention being aimed at the one with the tablet, she made sure to keep the arrowpoint trained firmly on her companion; she wasn’t stupid, after all. Threatening personal harm is no good, but these goody two shoes can’t handle someone else being harmed.

”Now, why don’t you be a good girl and give me the tablet, and I don’t put a hole in your pretty face?”

None of the shadows around the room jumped to pitch in and help Danny get the tablet to the vault- and neither did Tsukimi. If Danny needed a hand, the lanky Japanese woman would have moved over to help, but with Danny flexing her bracelet's capacity, just sitting on the sidelines waiting for everything to come together so Tsukimi would be completely free to go about her business at the gala. Music pumped through doors of the storeroom, bleeding in from the exhibit halls.

It was her placement along the sides to which she owed her initial vantage point of the intruder. "A condescending villain. Danny, we might be a little late to the party." Tsukimi watched as a weapon appeared within Katrina's hand, fixated on Tsukimi's position. "I might need a little help here."

The turquoise cart dropped, letting the crate drop. The tablet shifted inside, but the hay packing kept it safe and mostly sound. Danny stepped out, hand on her bracelet. "Alright, Shortstack, so you want something- but you can't have it." The arrow point drew Danny's eyes to the impending danger. If aimed at her, it would be easy enough to deflect, but creating a barrier at a distance would require some more time and thinking. Still, Danny knew she could block it. It would just make her offense a little more stifled.

Danny looked to the crate, then back to the woman currently pointing a weapon at her friend. Then, a sting of thought flossed between her ears. "Why don't you tell me what you want with the tablet. To be honest, I'm always interested in what people are wanting to heist it for. The "I want money" ones never give good stories, but every so often, we get a good-"

Tsukimi looked over with her hands in the air. "Danny, there's an arrow pointed at me."

"Fine." A turquoise barrier appeared in front of Tsukimi, keeping her safe from the initial contact, but no plan ever survived first contact.

Post by Katrina A. Russel May 21st 2018, 10:48 pm

The girl in white frowned, letting the tip of the bow fall slightly; was she insulting her height? Well that was rude. She didn’t call her- well, there were few things she could throw the way of the hero, she was beautiful. Still, it was very rude, and she wouldn’t let it stand! No, she wouldn’t. Casually, she brought the bow to full draw, aiming directly at the heart of the girl behind the turquoise barrier. It would be so easy to let the arrow fly, amplified by her Red Rings, well … it could pierce through a bank vault. She didn’t know whether this barrier could stop it, but that wouldn’t be the point. It would be to demonstrate her power, the sheer force behind even one of her arrows. And she had a whole quiver of them! Not that they were visible; the technology of the Silver Hand created collapsible arrows that don’t lose any of their strength. Which was, you know- really useful.

”Why do I want the tablet? What kind of stupid question is that?”

Anubis giggled. Well she certainly was a curious hero wasn’t she? That was unusual! Normally, they were all “Why are you here oh no what are you doing not my intestines!” But not this one. How interesting! A wide grin split her face. This could be fun. Very fun. In the instant the smile cracked across her pretty features, mystical Rings appeared on her. Glowing with crimson energy, they encircles her neck, wrists, and ankles. And as soon as her hand let go of the string of the bow, it appeared on the arrow as well. With the same force used to destroy the truck, the arrow cracked across the room, travelling the short distance between Anubis and the barrier in a fraction of a second. Whether the barrier could hold against the onslaught of an arrow fired with fifteen times normal force wasn’t the point; because the second the arrow left the bow, the red rings flicked to gold and then smoke filled the air, flung to the ground by the white girl.

Of course an attack was incoming; but she didn’t travel through the smoke, or around it. As a matter of fact, she was climbing on top of it, every step generating a Gold Ring which she stepped on, propelling her across the short distance almost as fast as her arrow. With a flip that nearly touched the ceiling of the warehouse, she landed silently behind Danny. The bow was nowhere to be seen, stashed in the utility belt around her waist, and instead in her hand were two swords and a grin on her face. Her two swords clinked together with a loud noise, louder than anything they should be capable of making. The Red Rings were back now, and every movement of her blades sent flurries of air kicking up dust from the ground. And that was just from her blades moving! A wide, almost psychotic grin spread across her features, warping them into something almost inhumane. The facade of humanity was fading now, and the bloodlust was returning; it would be sated soon, if she had anything to say about it.

”I want the tablet because it would look amazing with my other artefacts. Got a problem, sweetie?”

The first plan did not survive first contact with the enemy- but Tsukimi did. "What's plan B?" The red arrow shattered the barrier at the point of entrance, but lost enough momentum to keep Tsukimi unskewered. The best type of skewered. "Because this did not work out well. It could have been a lot worse, but this isn't so great right now."

"Suzy, can you grab a weapon or something?" The first barrier did a fine enough job, but Danny needed some more firepower in this match if she would do anything to- and she was gone. "We need the smoke gone! Now!" Opting away from the single barrier design, Danny decided to go for a new style of creating a box fort. Creating designs in her head made combat like a more deadly game of Terraria. A few three by three boxes began to spring up, fitting together to create walls. If an arrow pierced one, it would render a box useless, but another one would sit behind it. Danny stepped back and thought about how great of idea this was.

Then, she head the sound of two swords clanking behind her. "It's an impressive plan in the wrong direction. Quick question Thumbelina, are those cold steel?" Danny decided against summoning up two blades, going for a shield and a glaive instead. Seeing as the warehouse remained at a deficit on available weapons, Danny went for creating a turquoise blade for Tsukimi. She could handle the rest.

"Careful, Danny. Let's not rush into this." Tsukimi tried to shift her stance, accommodating her heels.

"That's what all villains want."
Danny rushed forward, hoping to put the offensive against Katrina. "Let's see how you deal with defense!"

Two enemies. Some kind of magic. Turquoise. Energy shield. Arrows have little effect. One victim, protected. The other, protected. Both with weapons. Smart. She’d have to be careful. She was insulting her height. Typical. The smirk only grew. They didn’t expect her to reverse the directions on them. Again, typical. Good guys see things in black and white. If an enemy is in front of them, they don’t expect tactics. Most bad guys are idiots anyway. But not her. She was smart. Like she knew that there was no way she could handle a purely physical fight against someone like that. It wasn’t her M.O. Nope. So as Danny rushed at her, she skittered backwards, clear out of the way of the glave (and kept backing away if Danny continued to approach, leading the girl in a circle if necessary) and flicked her wrist. The smaller blade, propelled by a Red Ring, roared through the air, almost disappearing from sight in the small distance it had to gather. Sure, it wasn’t built to be thrown, but if it found it’s mark (her heart, obviously) it would do the job just fine, especially with it’s power amplified as much as it was.

And this left her with only her tanto. The blade was high-tec, sure, made with Harbenite, reinforced with state of the art materials … but she knew it wouldn’t last against a magical blade. One or two hits, yes. But not in an extended battle. She wasn’t going to take the chance, thank you very much. So while the pretty girl might want a fight, Katrina had a different idea. In fact, hey, how about she doesn’t risk this. Mix it up a little. With a flourish, she sheathed the blade, and then in a reckless move that nonetheless she thought made her look cool, she tossed the sheathed sword to the side, far out of her reach. This was going to be fun, fighting with her hands, her knives, her smoke bombs- oh, of course, she wasn’t disarmed, but fighting a sword against a sword was boring! And it’s not like she was powerless. The red rings appeared again; this time though, two more appeared, circling around her clenched fists.

”Thumbelina? Oh, wow, am I short? I’ve never been called short before! I’m so insulted!” So sarcasm isn’t typically in her arsenal, but come on, that was ridiculous. She rolled her eyes like a teenager along with this statement- but in her defense she is only nineteen. ”Also, what the hell is cold iron? It’s actually Harbenite, you uneducated swine.” She sneered these last words, trying to barb her, find her weak points. Words could be just as deadly as blades you know. But here she stopped talking and suddenly she was rushing forward, her tiny frame covering what short distance there was. Sudden, yes, but what else do you expect from an assassin? The time between the words and her rushing was practically non-existent, the last of the syllables still echoing around the room when she first put her feet into gear.

And this is where her training comes in handy. As she came closer, the world seemed to become sharper, more clear, her senses focusing on the glaive, the shield. She needed to avoid the sword, slip in under her guard. It was time to test a theory. Using the full momentum of her slide, she punched the shield. And this wasn’t no ordinary punch. First, Katrina was a trained martial artist, possibly one of the most deadliest assassin’s in the world. Secondly, with her Red Ring’s active, the power of the already decent punch was multiplied massively, by fifteen times. And finally, the power of her run behind it, that would only add even more force. Now typically, a punch of that caliber would leave the combatant delivering the punch open for a counterattack. But this is where the second advantage of the Red Rings come in handy; all the force delivered was absorbed by the magic, leaving Katrina free to pivot away. And pivot she did, ducking, her instincts screaming for her to move. This is where being short was somewhat of an advantage; most people have no experience in fighting extremely tall or short people. This particular advantage wouldn’t last for long, but she’d be damned if she wasn’t going to take advantage of it while it lasted.

Her pivot brought her away from the shield, regardless if it was destroyed or not, but now she was left with another problem; she was well within the range of the glaive. Which isn’t a problem in itself, really; a quick switch to Gold Rings, the change as quick as thought, anchored her position on the floor. The problem here was how the pretty girl was going to respond. There were a multitude of different responses; attack, defense, creating barriers, even backing away. Katrina wasn’t going to press the assault. She just needed to know how durable the constructs were. Huh. So many different things to do with the constructs. IF only she could do that. Well, that was just irritating. Still ready to defend, still ready to respond, but Katrina couldn’t help but inquire at this seeming oversight.

”So, like. You can create anything you want, so you go with a sword and a shield? Are you an anime character or something? What’s wrong with you?”

"Oh, so you've heard Thumbelina before? Well, I've never heard of herbenite before, but that isn't going to stop me from being the anime protagonist of my own life." With each step, Danny grew closer to her foe- and the distance closed to what she hoped would be her advantage. Slanted barriers five feet in length would conjure up from behind Katarina, aiding in Danny's wishes to make Katarina believe Danny wanted to close her in. "You aren't going anywhere!"

As Danny moved closer to her foe, the barriers behind Katarina would begin to shift. Instead of walling the foe in, they actually served as future fodder for Danny. Slowly at first, but quickly picking up speed, the barriers moved towards Danny's glaive. Danny lifted the glaive in the air, keeping her shield up to defend herself. No way would she be able to lift the glaive with the amount of constructed barriers she was drawing, but once the weapon hung over her head, it would easy to throw it down in the direction she wanted it to go.

The glaive, now shifted into a hammer, came down towards Katarina with a thunderous resolution. A resolution that hoped to knock the girl clear into the side of the room- and into a more placated state of negotiations.

"Is that a little much?"
Tsukimi kept her sword close, but did not feel Danny's charge did all the right things.

"No such thing!" Danny still kept a hand on her hammer. "I know I didn't kill her if that's what you're asking!"

So she never managed to reach the shield. That was fine. It was fine. More than a little irritating, but fine. It was cool. Sh wasn’t planning on exacting horrifying, terrifying revenge, nope, no revenge plans here as she stared down the hero. There were these … shield … things? Some energy-like barriers surrounded her, which obviously means she was in danger; obviously, so she wasn’t going to press on with the attack. No, she had to get out right now. The anger was shoved down (not healthy, psychologically speaking, but she wasn’t exactly in the position to talk about her feelings) and she slid to a stop, aided by her magic, and then retracted. It only took a few short scrambles before she had climbed up and over one of the walls. And just in time too, it appeared, as she would have been completely squished by that level of attack!

”Okay, first of all dum-dum, it’s ‘Harbenite’ not ‘Herbinite’, and Harbenite is a porous lightweight metal typically found at the earth’s core.” She was breathing heavily; her entire life had just flashed before her eyes and she wasn’t too happy about the fact. That wasn’t going to happen again, no more frontal assaults, oh no. It was going to be all stealth and shadow and shit she threw away her swords. Ala’khir be damned that was a mistake, because this was going to be much more difficult than she had originally thought. Softly Anubis let herself drop to the floor, her bare foot making no noise as she fell from the ceiling.

”And second … think fast!”

With that she threw two smoke balls at her, their contents already spilling as they arched through the air. They weren't amplified in any way, oh no, that wasn’t her plan. With Danny distracted by the smoke, she made a bee line directly for her companion. Already the red rings were on her and as she reached the barrier, she slammed her first hard into it. At the very least it would crack, but she wouldn’t stay around to find out; no, she was off again, red rings turning to gold, and she was on the ceiling, hoping to the advantage of smoke to hide her advantage … she would wait, then. If she was attacked, well, she hoped she could dodge in time, and if she wasn’t found, she could at least come up with a plan dammit! But hopefully not too long, there might be spiders up here.

Anubis hated spiders.

Dance, Danny, Dance (Katrina) Empty Re: Dance, Danny, Dance (Katrina)

Danny did not kill anyone. Dodged a bullet on that one, but most likely Katrina would have walked away from it perfectly fine. Nonetheless, Danny needed to get back into her frame of mind to take down this lout. An all out attack did not work, and now Katrina retreated to- well, Danny could not make that out. "I'll call it whatever I want, Stewart Little! Now how about you come down and fight me like the brave little toaster you are!"

A burst of two sliding balls drew Danny's attention. Her shield went up. A bolt of turquoise energy shot out to greet the ordinance rolling towards her. Smoke filled the vicinity. Not the wisest of choices, but the shot hit straight to where it needed to go. If she remained in the smoke it would give Katrina every advantage over her, but those balls did not roll randomly, Katrina wanted to force Danny into a mistake.

A loud explosion of energy drew Danny's attention. Two rings of differing colors shifted from red to gold. "I don't know what that is, but I know it isn't good." Her barrier near Tsukimi shattered, but her partner was no idiot, she hightailed away. "Hold on." The same rings appeared on Tsukimi. Two barriers appeared to defend both her own back and the back of Tsukimi's.

"I don't like this." Tsukimi brushed at the ring.

"Don't worry." Danny pushed herself against the barrier behind Tsukimi. "We just need to keep our bases covered and shoot her the first time we see her."

"We sounds more like-" Before Tsukimi could finish, a turquoise turret showed up in front of her. "A good plan."

The shield shattered. That was good. Very good. If her bare fists could destroy these turquoise barriers, then that meant her weapons would have even more of an effect. That was great. A sliver of a smile spread across her pretty features. Still clinging to the ceiling like the worlds most terrifying arachnid, she slid two hands into the golden utility belt at her waist, pulling out two very sharp, very aerodynamic stars. Shuriken, they were called. A Japanese weapon. They weren’t, as commonly depicted, a killing weapon. They typically lacked the power behind them to do anything more than distract. But they were good at what they do. A sharp blade halfway between your ribs would do more than any amount of smoke and mirrors. Typically, ninja would them employ more deadly weapons - such as a sword or bow - to finish off the distracted samurai.

However, that was in a typical persons hand. Anubis was anything but typical. Crap, this was probably going to hurt. And then she fell, in a split second her rings shifting from gold to red and she flung the two stars, both flying with the force of a ballistic missile towards the energy chick- whatever her name was. Her aim was off, so while her head would be safe, it would still hurt significantly if it the brunt of her body where she was aiming. And in that split second, she hit the ground, landing with a roll … and wince. She had laned, thankfully, rolling in timed to avoid hurting herself so nothing was broken; still her ribs were probably bruised, but she couldn’t take the time to massage because by Ala’khir they had a turret. She couldn’t dodge bullets, there was no way, not from the few feet that she had.

”... oh, by Almawt.”

She took only the few precious seconds it took to say those three words, thankful for the lingering wisps of the smoke to somewhat hide her, and prayed to Ala’khir her companion was a lousy shot. Probably not, but regardless she couldn’t give her the chance. Two things slipped out of her belt that next second; another circular sphere, and then a knife. The smoke bomb was thrown on a lazy arch and then the knife, amplified by the red rings, slammed straight into it, exploding with it’s load of smoke a foot from the turret- if all things went well. It was Anubis’ only play- if she was hit by the bullets, she would likely by very injured and be forced to withdraw. Thankfully she could retreat into the PIt if she had to- but then Jack would say something smart and she’d have to try to stab him. Poor pumpkin head.

The smoke continued in a thick display of hued confusion. Vision would not win this fight. Another visceral sense would need to take over. A patter of feet. A sigh. A terrible smell. Anything would give Danny the edge she needed so badly. On her own, no way. But, with the help of her bracelet, she could get somewhere.

A vision of forests, lush trees and trodden paths- except they were not open paths. No. They only appeared that way in the eyes of a careful watcher. Everything slowed down to a moment in time. And, Danny opened her eyes.

Curving through the air, a shuriken lunged towards Danny. Enough samurai encompassed her brain to let her know to go ahead and take the shuriken. Would it be good for her health? No. Would it be better than what followed? Yes. And what followed gave her an opening.

Danny moved forward with turquoise shield in hand, with a turquoise crossbow on her arm. She first fired the bolt towards the opening of her opponent. The, she followed up with a thrusting strike of her shield into the smaller woman's face and chest.

As the shuriken dug in Danny's flesh, she could feel muscle begin to tear. It was not good. But, it was better.

Pain. By Ala’khir, there was so much pain. She had lunged out the way just in time to avoid the thrusting power of the shield; she had no doubt it would have shattered much of her face. But she couldn’t avoid the crossbow bolt. That little space between them she was lucky to avoid a killing blow. As it was, the bolt dug into her shoulder and instantly Katrina knew it hit something vital. Not dangerously so, but she needed medical attention, and quick. The dive turned into a clumsy roll, wincing in agony as she put weight on her shoulder. Blood trickled down her shoulder, staining a path down the white of her dress and plastering the thin material to her body. Her roll had carried her out of melee range and as the red rings returned to her body, she would be ready for another crossbow bolt, even if her dominant hand was useless.

The only saving grace she had was that her plan worked, at least a little bit. Her attack had cracked her barrier, at least a little. And more importantly, her shuriken had landed, biting into the side of the opposing woman. Typically, a shuriken wound would be light lacerations at most, but in the magically-enhanced hands of Anubis they became something much more dangerous. They had equivalent injuries, at least, and as Katrina stood facing down her opponent, pain crashing over her like tide against a beach, she realized she didn’t want to be here. This was dangerous, this was not the kind of fight she was adept in! And this girl with the bracelet and the constructs, she was powerful and far too versatile for her liking. Too much power to face her just yet.

But then, Anubis didn’t like just leaving the tablet where it was, in the hands of her opponent. She didn’t see how she’d have any other choice, of course, but it still sat ill with her … and in her condition it wouldn’t be the only thing that was ill. She clutched her injured arm, the light pressure put on it helping to ease the pain some, but she had to get to a doctor and get it fixed. The pain was probably injured … not that that would be a problem for Sakaya. She could heal the most grievous wounds inflicted by the oddest of places. So Katrina did the only option left to her; with the speed of a striking snake, she tossed the remainder of the smoke balls, coating the room in the smoke, and the at the same time a throwing knife flew from her hand, impacting the fire system in the middle of the ceiling. The force of the knife knocked a hole clean through the concrete, dumping hundreds of gallons of foul-smelling, ancient water onto the floor.

But by that point she was gone, running down - then up - the street, only a massive hole in the wall to signify she had been there at all. Though she was running, this fight wasn’t over; she left to lick her wounds, for sure, but she had not lost; there would be a reckoning for this, unholy retribution for this slight. No one - and she meant no one - stood in her way for long. They would feel the might of the Phoenix.
